Another smoke-filled day, but Mom’s roses (second bloom this year) DGAF.

#blooming #flowerstr

Second round of Mom’s roses. Really glad they came back, as they didn’t get any water while we were away for Mom’s hip replacement trip.

GA! Little town flower basket Appreciation Note.

Back in BC. Mom’s doing well after her hip replacement surgery and relieved to be home. Two more weeks of easy movements then the physio starts. 🦾

Back home after 2 months in Canada helping my mom jump administrative hoops to get hip replacement surgery.

Home for 3 weeks before going back up to help with travel to the surgery center in a different province, post-op, travel home, and a few months of rehab. I’m so grateful I’m retired and have the time to be able to do this for her.

All the flower photos I’ve been posting were from her garden. She’s very much looking forward to getting back out there once this process is done.

This hibiscus (whose flower was larger than my hand) was at a shopping center Boyfriend and I visited yesterday for ice cream and a bookstore.

Refresh of the Mother’s Day bouquet. Removed the wilted flowers and added an iris and columbines from Mom’s garden.

Sometimes, if you walk slowly and keep the silence created by birdsong and insect wing, out of the corner of your eye, you may see the face of a fairy gnome watching from a flower.

#blooming #story #flowerstr

My sister sent my mom a bouquet from a local nursery for Mother’s Day. It’s an amazing mix of what you’d expect with wildflowers and things I didn’t know existed. Really special arrangement that my mom enjoyed tremendously. 💐

The magnolia tree flowers are gone, but the lilacs and dogwoods are filling the space with color and scent.

Proof of Rain: Lilies

My mom planted these around 20 years ago in my backyard. No matter what happens to them: mowing, covered with dirt from plumbing excavation, so many days without rain the earth cracks…. a few days after a heavy rain, they rise again.

Iris in da house!

Fresh out of my mom’s garden. Hers took longer to bloom than the houses down the street.

Less than a week left in BC. I’m scaling back my daily walks on the mountain to just the first bench so I don’t wear out my right foot before the 3 miles needed to walk through through the airports.

Still stopping to take photos along the way. It’s fun to see how things have changed over the 5 weeks I’ve been here.

Less than 2 weeks left if you want to participate in the

April art challenge celebrating cycles.

If you want to participate in the June art challenge, here’s a hint for the upcoming theme. 💐 I’ll have a daily prompt list and a color palette ready for you on June 1st.

Whether you make art 1 day or everyday, if participating in these monthly art challenges helps you make more art than you would have otherwise, you win. 🏆 And so do the folks who get to see what you create. 🫂💜

Mom has this amazing, single stalk sunflower growing on the side of her house. So many heads branching out near the top that it looks like an orrery (model of the solar system).

It’s actually as tall as I am - I raised my phone over my head, tapped the capture button a bunch of times, then picked the best one to share with you. 🌻

Ever take a photo as a memory trigger for the photo you didn’t get? This is one of those.

While walking the mountain this morning, Mom and I saw 2 hummingbirds- quite a sight as we’re in the middle of a forest, high above the town. Beautiful iridescent green with silver throats. Even as I pulled out my phone, they were gone.

So here’s a photo of the alfalfa flower the hummingbirds liked instead of the actual hummingbirds.

Last flower sketch. Starting a new theme tomorrow for my little pen drawings in a 4” x 4” sketchbook.

There’s a corner of Mom’s house that gets a lot of sun so it needs a hearty plant. We went to the nursery to pick up a plant for a friend and Mom got this one to try out in that sunny corner.
