It’s a cloudy day. I stand on the edge of the field and notice the calm. Disc golf goals have been put down for the winter. I finally have the freedom to roam the field wherever and in peace. With offerings ready to feed small souls in my bag, I first walk to the watery bridge area. On the way I stop at an old birch tree, giving it a pat. The gesture makes me smile briefly.

A quick splash and a rustle at the waters, perhaps it was a lil frog? Sitting down I observe silly little dress up bugs in water with their varied looks. What’s in fashion today? Continuing my walk along the water, hoping to see a muskrat, in the murky water I see a… towel? I look for a stick, pick up the towel and lay it flat on grass. It’s a Snufkin towel, how appropriate I thought with a smiling sigh. I wasn’t sure whether to thank for the gift or not. Left the towel on ground so any souls that took shelter in it can leave.

Approaching more old birch trees, looking for spots to leave offerings, I touch and pat another tree. I notice the brief calm and serenity in my mind… I stand in silence, hand touching the old bark. Like meeting an old friendly soul, briefly comforting my harrowing loneliness. I pat another tree with an open wound. It particularly made me feel sadness.

I come across a mighty white willow, with unfortunately broken branch. Been wanting to do some wood carving, so I take out my pocket tool and saw off a piece from the fallen branch. I bow and thank the tree for its sacrifice. I notice another dirty towel hanging from branches, so I also pick it off and stuff it into a bag with the branch piece.

I return for Snufkin towel, with all the bugs gone I place another towel in my bag. I look and find another tree to place my offerings, some dried worms this time. I also throw some for nearby crows, hoping they will find them later. On the way home I discover piece of... homework? It has map of Canada and cities. I ponder for a moment what this could mean for me, but I’m uncertain… sadly I’m too poor to travel anyway. #lifeoffiestabun #soulofbun
