Woke up to some easy sats this morning! ☕️⚡️

Spent less than 30 minutes total across a few apps, walking to the gym and back, and stacked:

• Speed Wallet: 130 sats (quick game)
• Satsman: 21 sats
• ZBD: 5 sats (daily poll)
• sMiles: 5 sats (1 sat per 1,000 steps—taking out the trash & walking to the gym/back)

Total: 161 sats.

Now, here’s the reality check. As a consultant, my hourly fee is at a level where 30 minutes of work is worth exponentially more than these fractions of a cent. From a "time is money" perspective, this doesn't make any sense at all. 📈📉

On the other hand, the walk was for my health, and apps like Satsman are actually educational—so they serve a purpose beyond the payout. It’s about the habit and the "Nuts and Bolts" of testing the plumbing of the future.

But they should be—and can be—even better.

Reflecting on one year of using Nostr... ⚡️

I first created my profile back in February 2025, but after a long hiatus, I’ve only recently dove back in. Now that I’m active again, one thing is crystal clear: Technically, Nostr is superior to any other social media platform out there.

However, we have a hurdle to clear. 🚧

Right now, most posts are still too technical for the average person. I truly believe we’ll only get the best out of this protocol when it becomes the go-to place for real life—sharing holidays, day-to-day experiences, family photos, and great articles. We need to use it with the same ease we use Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn. 📸🌍

My big hope for 2026? That businesses finally wake up to Nostr. It is, hands down, the best way to create authentic brand awareness without the "middleman" algorithms.

Let's keep building the "Social Layer" by just being ourselves. 🧱🍊

I’ve been digging back into an interesting project from 2023: the Catawba Indian Nation in the Carolinas and their bid to create a Bitcoin-friendly "Digital Economic Zone" (CDEZ).

Their goal was ambitious—to build a jurisdiction tailored for FinTech banks, DAOs, and digital assets, effectively creating a "Ditch Delaware" alternative right on sovereign tribal land. Looking at their current site, they are still offering LLC and DAO incorporations with a regulatory framework designed to move at the "speed of innovation".

Question for the #Nostr community: Does anyone have boots-on-the-ground info or recent experience with the CDEZ? Is it gaining traction among Bitcoin companies, or is it still in the "early pioneer" phase?

My Take for the #PlebChain: We have to stop looking at these "crypto-powered" apps as the end goal. Polymarket is an application, but Bitcoin is a protocol. * Lightning is Bitcoin: As I noted in a recent thread, Lightning isn't just a payment tech; it is Bitcoin settled off-chain.

We are already seeing stablecoins like USDT and USDC minted via the Taproot Asset protocol. This means we can have the utility of stable settlement while keeping Bitcoin as the final, immutable settlement layer.

Nostr and Chaumian e-cash (Cashu/Fedimint) are following this same path. They aren't "alternative blockchains"—they are sovereign layers built on the only rock-solid foundation we have.

The ban on Polymarket shows the fragility of applications that rely on centralized legacy permissions. True adoption won't come from "legalized gambling" in crypto clothing; it will come from the unshakeable infrastructure of Bitcoin-native protocols that don't ask for permission to exist. 🛡️🔓

I’ve just reviewed the position paper released by the VBNL regarding the new Dutch tax proposal for crypto assets. The Tweede Kamer’s decision to tax unrealized gains (vermogensaanwas) instead of realized profits is a massive blow to the Dutch Bitcoin ecosystem.

The Core Issues:

• Liquidity Crisis: Taxing price spikes before you sell could force Dutch holders to liquidate their positions just to pay the tax man.
• Unfair Treatment: Why are real estate and startups exempt from taxing unrealized gains, while Bitcoin is not?.
• Operational Burden: For platforms like those I advise, the reporting requirements for every single satoshi, reward, and airdrop will be staggering.
• The VBNL is rightly calling for a "realization principle" (belasting bij verkoop) to protect the Dutch investment climate. If we want to foster innovation, we cannot tax people on "paper gains" that could evaporate the following year.
