In 100% agreement especially with her concluding statement at the end of the interview.

For better or worse, it seems increasingly likely that the US as the dominant power on the planet is coming to a close. I'm not sure what to say about China being that new power but the US has been blocking climate progress for decades and under the current regime it's clear US policy is now a double down in the wrong direction.

Between increasing climate related disruption and geopolitics and economics, just, shit. This just looks like an intensifying disaster for the planet.

"Paris Marx is joined by Thea Riofrancos to discuss the global struggle to move away from fossil fuels and the future of the green transition, including the limitations of existing supply chains, geopolitical tensions, and the tech industry's role in the growth of extractive industries."

Yes, but, also, anything for profit, anything for the stock price. Also, It's not corporate betrayal, it's #capitalism. Corporations do capitalism and that's what we see here.

Corporations do no care for humanity, if it seems to you that they do, that's marketing. Apple marketing has created story about a company that cares about #privacy, creativity and helping humans be better. #Apple marketing has convinced people it is the caring rebel.

It's not betrayal because it was never for you.

YES. Read Warner's post. This is something I've also been writing about for a very long time. Until we fully reckon with the historical foundations of the United States we will not be free. Our nation is still bound to #genocide, land theft, #settlercolonialism, slavery and violent international interventions. We cannot pretend otherwise. We cannot ignore the fundamental truths of this nation.

If we want #freedom and #justice, we must start with the #truth. #democracy #classwar #capitalism

2025 End of year personal computing check-in

I've written quite a bit over the past 11 months about flipping the table on my personal computing. All very unexpected but what a relief to have done it. And also very satisfying to know that my computing now fits my personal ethics in a way that it did not before.

You're opposed to #fascism, okay, but what are you FOR?

How do you feel about #capitalism? #Racism? Global #inequality and the #ClimateEmergency? #Genocide? #NeoLiberalism?

We're at a pivotal moment in the US where we have to fight back fascism. Let's do that but what kind of world do we really want? This fight is now inevitable, do we want the end point to be a return to the "normal" of recent decades? I don't.

Let's fight for something better.

A few thoughts on consumer ethics and the new trade war

For most of my adult life I've made it a point to actively boycott companies that seemed to have shitty ethics. It's difficult because capitalism is shitty at it's root so I don't think that ethical consumerism within capitalism is a solution to the problem. I don't want to be stuck in the lesser evil. But the problem is systemic. And so I've tried to just limit consumption generally... #capitalism #democracy

Exposing the Imperial Class | Planet: Critical

"What is the United States for? Journalist Matt Kennard would argue the most powerful nation in the world exists to undermine democracy, deny national sovereignty, and funnel wealth to the financial elite. His book, The Racket, exposed the true nature of the American Empire, a nature the mainstream on both the Left and Right refuse to acknowledge."
