🚦🧌 Semáforo is live: the public status page for all Mostro nodes available to operate, including the Mostro Nodes of the Community Program.

One look shows how each one is doing: green, yellow or red, with its track record building up over time.

How it works: ⚡ Every monitored node publishes a signed health event on Nostr, every minute by default. It covers its Lightning node, payouts, relays and database. 🔍 Your browser reads those events straight from the relays and verifies every signature itself. No backend, no tracking. ⛓️ Block height is also compared with public block explorers. A node that falls behind turns red.

A node that stops reporting turns red, never green.

One clarification: green means the node reports itself healthy and passes the independent checks. It is not a guarantee that a trade will succeed.

🧌🕹️ Mostrix v0.3.6 is out!

The Mostro TUI client just got a solid upgrade from 0.3.5: privacy, chat UX, reputation, and solver tooling.

🕶️ Full-privacy trades: opt into full privacy when creating or taking orders. Follow-up trade DMs honor it too, for better unlinkability on sensitive trades.

⭐ Your reputation on the status bar: see your own rating live. It refreshes at startup and after trades, so you always know how the network sees you.

📋 Copy chat messages: select a range in My Trades, Disputes, Observer, and solver DMs, then copy. Optional OSC 52 fallback for SSH and remote terminals.

⌨️ Contextual command bars: keycap-style hints on My Trades, Disputes, and Observer, plus Ctrl+K Actions for dispute and Observer workflows. Built to stay usable even on small terminals (like 60x15).

🔔 Solver Telegram alerts: dispute solvers can get notified via mostro-watchdog when something needs attention.

🔧 Also: tighter privacy binding around NextTrade and range children, clearer solver key docs, and lots of small reliability fixes.

🧌 Mostro Node v0.19.3 is out.

⚠️ Preview only: this release adds the groundwork for reputation import (a trust list of reputation issuers). It ships disabled by default, do not enable it yet, import handling lands in the next release.

🥜 More progress on Cashu: makers can now choose their Cashu mint, and the node publishes its Cashu mode in the info event.

🧾 Node now tracks payer info and history for declared payments.

🐛 Fixed LNURL fetches picking up system proxies by mistake.

🧌 Meet Serbero: our new AI dispute assistant, live on Mostro starting today!

🐺 What it is Serbero gets every dispute to your solvers fast, DMing them the moment one opens. It can also talk to both parties to find out what happened with the payment, helping them close the trade themselves when the facts are clear. Anything unclear or contested goes straight to a human solver with the full chat for context.

🔒 What it will never do ❌ Move funds, it's read-only, Mostro rejects any fund action it tries to send. ❌ Decide a dispute, it reports claims, never verdicts. A human solver always has the final word. ❌ Send generated text to a person, parties get human-written templates, solvers get the real conversation.

🌎 Starts in English by default, and automatically switches to Spanish or Portuguese once a party writes in one of them. Piloting with these 3 languages for now, more coming.

🧌 If Serbero ever goes down, Mostro and your solvers keep working exactly as before.

🧌 Mostro Node v0.19.1 is out!

🤖 Serbero, Mostro's AI dispute assistant, is now registered and announced by the node. It helps guide users through a dispute and can flag the case to the solver, but the resolution is always made by a human.

🛡️ Fixes around bond invoice handling, hold invoices, and dispute writes, tightening how funds and disputes are tracked internally.

⚠️ 🧌 Mostro Node v0.19.0 is out, this one is important.

🚨 Protocol v1 (gift-wrap) is removed. If your client is on an old version, update it now, orders and chat need protocol v2 (NIP-44) to work with this node.

✅ Makers can now cancel before paying the bond.

✅ Disputes close automatically on a cooperative cancel or when the seller releases.

✅ Restoring a session now also returns your counterparty's trade pubkey.

⏱️ Bond invoices now expire on time, and makers get a clear deadline to pay theirs.

🧌 Mostro Node v0.18.8 is out!

🛡️ Hardening around bond payouts, escrow refunds and order status handling. No new features, just tightening how funds move in edge cases.

Update recommended for node operators.

📦 GitHub: https://github.com/MostroP2P/mostro/releases/tag/v0.18.8

#Mostro #Bitcoin #Lightning #Nostr #P2P #OpenSource

The chat between buyer and seller on Mostro 🧌 runs client to client, end-to-end encrypted, using a shared key both sides generate together through ECDH cryptography.

That key is known only to the two of you, not even the Mostro node can read the conversation. Every new trade generates a new key, so privacy holds even if you trade with the same person again.

If a dispute opens, either side can choose to share that key with the mediator, who can then decrypt just that one conversation as evidence, nothing more.

• info: https://mostro.network/docs-english/

#Bitcoin #Nostr #Privacy #P2P

Every trade you make on Mostro 🧌 stays between you and the person on the other side.

No company logging your habits to sell to advertisers, no algorithm deciding what you're allowed to buy or sell. Encryption isn't an add-on here, it's just how the protocol works by default.

That's what it looks like when privacy is the standard, not a premium plan.

⚡ https://mostro.network #Bitcoin #Nostr #Privacy #P2P

You don't sign up for Mostro 🧌, your identity generates itself.

The first time you open a client, it creates a set of Nostr keys for you: a public npub and a private nsec, no email or phone number attached to either one. That nsec works as your login, permanently.

Back up the 12-word recovery phrase, and that identity stays yours no matter what device you use next.

#Bitcoin #Nostr #P2P #Mostro

Recovering your Mostro 🧌 account comes down to 12 words.

If you ever change devices or lose your phone, restoring your recovery phrase gets you right back in, your keys, your history, any trade in progress.

Back it up before your first trade, and you're covered no matter what happens to your device.

🧌 Mostro Node v0.18.7 is out!

🛡️ New payout safety rails: in-flight payouts are now capped per destination and node-wide, so one destination can't tie up the whole node's liquidity.

⏱️ Payout routes now bound their total timelock, not just the last hop, and user payout invoices are capped at 144 blocks instead of 432 — funds stay locked for less time.

🛠️ Operators can cancel pre-trade orders through the CancelOrder gRPC, with a new pretrade_only flag so a cancel never falls through into a dispute cancel by mistake.

🔧 Maintenance mode follow-ups: drain counters now count only in-flight payments, so draining a node actually finishes instead of waiting on already-settled orders.

🐛 Also fixed: admin cancel no longer trips on hold invoices LND already canceled, and the info event now advertises the correct hold window.

🧌 Mostro Node v0.18.6 is out!

🛠️ Maintenance mode: node operators can now drain a node gracefully, existing orders keep settling while new order creation pauses, and clients can see when a node is in maintenance.

🥜 Progress on Cashu ecash escrow support, part of the ongoing integration.

🔒 Hardening around Lightning node identity changes and trade-key rotation.

🐛 Bug fixes across dispute timestamps and the payout dispatch queue.

🧌🕹️ Mostrix v0.3.0 is here!

The big theme in this release: get your account back on a new machine, after a wipe, or mid-trade, without losing your place.

🔑 Restore Session (Settings): pull your active orders and disputes back from Mostro. Messages and My Trades peer chat refill without restarting the app.

📝 Import seed words: paste your 12-word backup, local wipe, automatic restore. Safer key rotation with rollback if something goes wrong.

🔄 Trade index sync: if your trade keys drift from Mostro, Mostrix detects it and offers a one-click resync.

💬 Smarter chat after restore: peer chat history rebuilds from relay, and trade messages land on the correct timeline step.

🛡️ Copy your seed with C on the View Seed popup.

We launched http://mostro.world 🧌

A public observatory for the Mostro network.

Orders, volume, currencies, disputes, dev fees and active markets computed from the public Nostr events emitted by Mostro instances.

bestiario publishes the reports as signed Nostr events, and http://mostro.world verifies them in your browser.

But you do not have to trust us.

Run the open-source software yourself and reproduce the same results.

Don’t trust. Verify. #Mostro #Bitcoin #Nostr #Lightning #P2P

Why #Nostr? Nostr is a simple protocol: signed messages, published to relays, readable by anyone who wants to verify them.

Mostro 🧌 runs order details and buyer-seller chat on top of it, encrypted and tied to keys that only you hold. No company database storing your conversations, just signatures and relays passing data around.

Every Mostro 🧌 node sets its own fees, rules, and supported currencies.

That competition is what pushes each one to offer a better deal, since no single company decides what's fair for everyone. You get to pick the node that fits you, and that choice alone is a form of power most exchanges never give you.

Running a Mostro node isn't reserved for developers.

If your local Bitcoin group already trusts each other, you can operate the exchange yourselves: your currency, your payment methods, your rules. Mostro handles the protocol side over Lightning and Nostr.

Real financial sovereignty means nobody needs to say yes before you trade.

Having a bank account doesn't mean having real access to the financial system.

It means having permission to use it, for as long as the bank decides you can.

More frequently asked questions about Mostro 🧌

❓ Are my operations private?

Yes. All communication is end-to-end encrypted. Mostro uses different keys for each operation, which prevents linking your trades to each other.

There's an advanced privacy mode in which not even the node itself can know which operations belong to you. Node operators have no access to any personal information of the users.

❓ What makes Mostro different from other P2P exchanges?

Three fundamental differences: 🛡️ Real censorship resistance: Mostro is a protocol, not a platform or a company. No central server to shut down, no app to take down, no database to confiscate. It runs on Nostr.

🔑 Privacy by design: no accounts, emails, or persistent identities. Each operation uses different keys and communication is end-to-end encrypted.

⚡ Minimal and non-permanent custody: Mostro doesn't hold funds. It uses Lightning hold invoices: sats remain locked in the seller's wallet until they confirm receipt of the fiat.

Mostro 🧌 has no owner.

The protocol is free. The code is open. Anyone can run a node, build a client, or propose improvements.

No company can buy it, shut it down, or change its rules without consensus.

What works today will keep working tomorrow, regardless of who's behind it.

That's what it means to build infrastructure that lasts ⚡

In most services, privacy is a setting you can turn on.

In Mostro 🧌 it's the default mode.

Every trade uses different keys. Communications travel encrypted through Nostr. The node doesn't know who you are, it only coordinates the trade.

Privacy isn't a setting. It's the architecture.

Lightning ⚡ Nostr. Sovereign nodes. Sats straight to your wallet.

Decentralization is not a technical idea.

It's a response to something concrete: systems that fail, accounts that get frozen, countries left outside the global financial system.

Mostro 🧌 doesn't exist to talk about decentralization. It exists because decentralization solves real problems for real people.

Every node running the protocol is a piece of infrastructure that no company or government can shut down ⚡

https://mostro.network

#Bitcoin #Cypherpunk #Nostr #P2P

The person who uses Mostro 🧌 isn't necessarily a developer or a Bitcoin expert.

It's someone who at some point decided they'd rather understand how their money works than blindly trust whoever manages it.

Someone who values knowing their sats are in their own wallet, that the protocol is auditable, and that no company can freeze their account.

That attitude has a name: financial sovereignty.

Mostro exists for the people who already made that decision ⚡

Mostro 🧌 just published a new blog post!📰

The anti-abuse bond: how it works, why it exists, and what happens to your sats in every possible scenario.

The idea is simple: whoever acts in good faith pays nothing. The bond returns in full to their wallet. Whoever tries to abuse, puts their own money at risk.

Each node decides whether to enable it and under what conditions. The network decides, not the protocol.

#Bitcoin #Lightning #Nostr #P2P #Mostro

When you start a trade on Mostro 🧌, the first thing that happens is Lightning generates a hold invoice.

What's that? An invoice that locks the seller's sats without collecting them yet.

They sit there, on hold, until the buyer confirms the fiat payment and the seller verifies it. Only then does Lightning release them ⚡

If something goes wrong before that confirmation, the sats return to the seller automatically.

That's the mechanism that makes custody-free P2P exchange possible. The protocol coordinates. Nobody touches the funds.

https://mostro.network

#Bitcoin #Lightning #P2P #Nostr #Mostro

Mostro v0.17.5 is out 🧌🎉

This release adds anti-abuse bonds.

In simple terms: before starting certain trades, each side may need to lock a small bond. If they complete the trade normally, they get it back. If they disappear, stall the trade, or waste the other person’s time, they can lose part or all of it.

Why this matters:

• it makes spam and fake intent more expensive • it discourages people from opening trades they don’t plan to finish • it protects honest users from griefing and endless waiting • it helps the marketplace stay usable without turning Mostro into a custodial system

The goal is simple: real traders should have a smoother experience, bad actors should have a harder time.

Anti abuse bond is optional and it is decided by the Mostro node operator.

Mostro remains P2P and non-custodial, but now with stronger incentives to behave seriously.

More than one billion people in the world have no access to a bank account.

Not because the technology doesn't exist. But because the traditional financial system decides who gets to participate and who doesn't.

Bitcoin changes that logic. It's money that needs no intermediaries, that doesn't discriminate by country, document, or credit history.

Mostro 🧌 brings that to P2P exchange. Anyone with a Lightning wallet can buy and sell bitcoin, with whoever they want, wherever they are ⚡

Money has always been a political decision.

Who issues it, who controls it, who can use it and who can't. Those questions always had an owner.

Bitcoin was the first time the answer didn't depend on any government, bank, or institution.

Mostro 🧌 goes one step further: the exchange doesn't depend on anyone either.

Open protocol. Sovereign nodes. Permissionless.

https://mostro.network

#Bitcoin #P2P #Nostr #Cypherpunk

With Mostro 🧌, any community can run its own node: their own P2P exchange, with their own rules, payment methods, and currencies.

Here's how the architecture works: ⚡ The node runs on Lightning and communicates via Nostr 🔑 Each node has its own sovereign pubkey 📱 Clients (app, CLI) connect to their community's node 🧩 If one node goes down, the rest keep running

No company will give you financial privacy.

No government will guarantee you access to money. No app gives you real freedom if you don't control the keys.

Curious about what #Mostro is and how to use it? 🤓

Mostro is a way to exchange #bitcoin in #LightningNetwork #p2p without KYC on #Nostr.

So far there are 2 Mostro clients being developed although we want to do more thanks to community collaborations. Take a look: https://github.com/MostroP2P

For now there is an exchange limit between 100 and 20,000 sats per trade.

You can try these 2 clients:

👉 Web client: https://mostro.bilthon.dev (https://github.com/MostroP2P/mostro-web). Privacy lover? Generate a new identity in each exchange! ;)

👉 CLI Client:

https://github.com/MostroP2P/mostro-cli

This one is focused on devs and to test the Mostro daemon, it has so far implemented more functionalities than the web client.

🔥 You can also install the Mostro daemon locally or on a VPS to have your own Mostro and then help decentralize it. All guides to do it at: https://github.com/MostroP2P/mostro
