Just saw one of these in the backyard! 🦋

Didn’t get a good photo since it was dang fast and extremely fluttery, but wanted to show you how big these guys are. The blue spots are bright on their own and a beautiful shimmer in the sunlight.

Turns out there won’t be a service appointment today, so instead of “we got up early for nothing,” Boyfriend and I walked 5k steps /2.2 miles all in one shot at a local park along the waterway.

Right foot started hurting so took a few days off from #31days - back at it today, outside, and was given the opportunity to take an awesome bird photo.

Hazy morning by the lake. A lot of wildfires burning to the east. Fortunately it doesn’t smell like smoke, unlike last year.

I think this is a barn swallow. Really like the painterly look the water has at full zoom. No filters used.

Travelled to visit an art gallery that had a collection of Canadian wildlife artist Robert Bateman’s work. Early (age 14) stuff up through recent years. He’s 94 and still painting.

The gallery was mostly empty on a Friday morning. The curator of the exhibit was there and asked if I wanted a tour - hell yes! So awesome to see not only the paintings but to also hear the thoughts and process that went into how they were displayed - order, groups, position within the exhibit…. if you stood in a specific spot, you could see 4 paintings that featured trees that spanned across decades of Bateman’s life, all slightly different, but similar in theme and colors.

Here’s a page from Bateman’s website where he talks about his inspiration and techniques: http://robertbateman.ca/art/rbop/rbatemanonpainting.html

Misty mountain morning.

Slowly increasing my range. Today took a trail much higher than the road I usually walk. See the little white sign lower left? If you zoom in, there’s a bench to the left and a bit up from the sign, at the bend of the road. That’s as far as I made it a week ago when I first arrived here. Go Me! 😁

Man set up a small water pool in a Netherland forest and shared videos of the birds and animals that come to visit. I like that he doesn’t use music and has the original audio at the time of recording.

This is a compilation that includes some nighttime footage at the end.
