Tomorrow at 13:00 UTC I'll be performing from my shed a collection of funny noises, produced and dubbed up live as part of the NHAM Indie Web Music Fest.

I'll be showcasing some new works with visuals along with fresh takes on older bits. There's a chat room and should be good vibes!

I'll mirror via ShoSho but the chat will likely all be on my self-hosted Owncast server.

This Thursday I'm most happy to say I'm taking part in the glorious NHAM FEST 26 with some new music and fresh versions, dubbed up live using a bunch of gismos.

Date 27/08/26 - Start time 13:00 UTC

Expect seagulls, drones, electronica, breaks, dubbing and funny noises organised in a manner my ear finds pleasing and, providing I can fit my TV in here, will have cool new visuals!

Also, be sure to check the schedule for other wicked Fedi noise botherers!

Last week I was on the Fireside Fedi talking about my love for indie web stuff, music and The Kalimera Show and how it all came about.

I also got the chance to dress like a dev for the evening. I'm sure you shadowy super coders will appreciate the look.

Artwork needed...

Howdy folks, I'm looking for some artwork to promote my indie-web music programme The Kalimera Show in my local community with stickers and fliers to put in local record shows/give hand to hand etc. I'd love to get some Outside The Computer people interested and even better if they're folks unaware that a real internet exists outside of Facebacon, LinkedInPark and eX etc.

The mains things I want to include is my cat George, who is big feature of the daily weather report (also my parent domain is https://inpc.cat/) and some basic text that communicates as snappily as possible.

It's 100% Indie Web broadcast from my shed, a home-spun affair of me (a sound engineer by trade) playing vinyl records and that rejects mainstream walled garden of shiternet. Obviously needs to be a bit savvy text wise as to not over complicate things and work for both sticker and A6 formats.

What I definitely don't want is AI art, aesthetically I think it's shit and doesn't suit the vibe of what I'm doing here. Listening to the show is probably the best way to get a feel of it, I play a wide range of music from Jazz to Funk to Prog to Hip hop to Dub to TechnoHonk etc.

I have a small budget of £100 (in sats) and this isn't a full on commercial operation, just so that's clear from the start but still want to respect peoples' time best I can.

If you're interested drop me a DM and respond here as DMs probably won't work anyway. Cheers! :)

Tonight - My first ever solo performance live stream to bless up the new ep Comic Capers.

30 mins of noises live mixed in my shed using a bunch of gizmos. Stream begins 19:00 UTC

For those unfamiliar with my music, it's electro/dub/breakbeats/funny noises put together in a way that makes sense to me. The release is not on any mainstream streaming platforms. Daniel Elk is not a real elk. However, there are cool ways you can get the music still. Easiest to check my site and choose the option best works for you (RSS/Faircamp/Bandcamp etc) name your price/ v4v options.

Had a blast at last night's gig... Music and visuals worked well and I loved hearing my work on a system with proper sub bass. It translated really well. However, the big thing, and this is where it becomes interesting as an indie web enthusiast... There was hardly anyone there.

The only people who came were friends I texted and a feel bad for the guy putting on the night (who is also a friend). The feedback was great re the music/visuals but I REALLY need to sort my shit out letting people know about what I'm doing. One friend, who's pretty good at marketing, has been texting me all morning lol.

I haven't had any mainstream social media since 2019 and I don't want to go back to it... ever. The only real power any of us have against these digital vampires is to remove ourselves from their platforms but clearly, they dominate on a local level.

However, it's pretty tragic if you're trying to get people to a music event in a small town. I appreciate the shares, I love the indie web and my friends here, however it's hard for people from say the EU or wherever to make a gig. The bus service between here and Berlin is pretty poor lol.

I need to find a way to promote myself locally. I get anyway with being a recluse because I'm usually doing sound for people with management etc. who handle the promo and I've never really promoted myself.

There's defo things like getting an email list and doing more than just texting my friends, back in the day we'd go out fly posting and that was part of the fun but are there any other things people who live there digital lives on the more obscure areas of the internet AND gig to audiences still? Seems a weird thing to ask given I've been working in music so long but I'm living in my own little bubble most the time.

On the one hand, I could get an Instantgran account and play that game but it would feel like a defeat of all the work I've done to self host stuff and contribute in my tiny way to making the internet cool again.

I want to bring people to the indie web, not create revenue for Zuckerberg, he's a cunt and fuck that guy.

Indie musicians here, are you still keeping mainstream apps or are you doing something cooler to promo your work?

A lot of shows online constantly ask you to "like and subscribe" and say shit like "The best way to support the show is to leave a review on Apple/Spotify".

However, as a self hosting, indie-web entity with no adverts or spyware the best way to support The Kalimera Show is to knit a scarf that says 'The Kalimera Show', then attend local music events/football matches/supermarkets and chant "Kalimera!" in between songs/goals/vegetable isles.

There's been a lot of science in recent years and I'm pretty sure some of it confirms this.

There is no like button, smashing anything will result in damage to your computer and not impact the transmission in any significant way.

And remember, Daniel Elk isn't a real elk.

Ps. New EP incoming for show supporters, cheers! (if that's you and I haven't got in touch somehow, drop me a message and let me know the best way to get music to you, I'm slowly DMing folks but on my phone and Nostr DMs remain pot luck)

Ok this is actually today's show! Now on demand and very soon on all good Podcast apps.

"But I can't find it on Spotify"

Yeah I said all GOOD podcast apps, not all good podcast apps plus some shitty walled garden run by a bunch of cunts plus Daniel Elk isn't a real elk.

All good podcast apps, including Podcasting 2.0 (I hope).
