Bitcoin Was Never Supposed to Be an Investment.
Every well-meaning "how to invest in Bitcoin" post shares the same broken framing. The correction to bad Bitcoin advice is always better Bitcoin investment advice. That is the entire problem.
Fiat is a ruler that will not sit still. The entire investment industry exists because of that one design choice. If the ruler sat still, none of it would need to exist.
Bitcoin is a ruler that sits still.
The essay makes the full argument: what money is supposed to do, the pathology of fiat, why Satoshi priced Bitcoin in dollars anyway as a bridge for human psychology, the current Wall Street absorption threat, and why artists specifically are the corrective.
The ruler stopped moving. Look at the world through it. Everything else follows.

Cats: The Jellicle Ball won three Tony Awards, made history with the first openly trans woman to win a Tony for costume design, and was grossing close to a million dollars a week. It still couldn’t survive.
Andrew Lloyd Webber says the American theater is in “dire danger.” He’s right — but the reason isn’t what most people think.
This isn’t really a story about taste, diversity, or streaming. It’s a story about money. When production costs triple (or more) while the dollar quietly loses value every year, even successful new work gets crushed by the math.
Broadway had its biggest year ever in ticket sales. At the same time, most new musicals are closing inside four or five months.
The same pattern is showing up across the arts — ballet companies cutting roles, orchestras struggling, regional theaters shrinking. Different cities, different disciplines, same underlying pressure.

In 2025 he moved to Costa Rica to build life closer to a Bitcoin standard. He's using Bull Bitcoin and Simpay to pay daily expenses in sats; he's plugged into the Bitcoin Jungle community in Uvita; he's pivoting toward fine art, sculpture, and finishing a book of musings 15 years in the making.
The story I can't get out of my head: he and his collaborator Matt sourced 250-year-old French oak from a regional Victoria lumber yard — wood cut from the heart of Paris 25 years before they found it through a 10-year-old YouTube clip. They built a four-and-a-half-meter restaurant table for an Adelaide Hills chef. Materiality as a time chain.

Is War Good for Bitcoin?
Throughout history, wars have been funded by printing money — inflating the currency and quietly stealing value from everyone holding it. Artists and regular people bear the heaviest cost. Bitcoin was built as the opposite: a fixed supply that cannot be inflated to pay for war or political priorities.
This raises a deeper question: In a world of sound money, does war become harder to sustain — both financially and morally?

NEW EPISODE: Share Your Bitcoin Journey — Episode 4
spent 17 seasons as a Soloist of The Royal Ballet in London. He's had roles by Crystal Pite, Wayne McGregor, and Hofesh Shechter. He retired in December 2025 after a career that started with a stress fracture and two titanium pins — and almost ended before it began.
He found Bitcoin during COVID while serving as a union deputy, negotiating dancer contracts and watching Robert Breedlove and Michael Saylor blow the lid off everything he thought he knew about money. The deeper he went, the more the veil was lifted. Then Bitcoin led him to faith. Proverbs 11:1 — "The Lord detests dishonest weights and scales." He saw money printing for what it is. Dishonest scales. And he saw Bitcoin as even weights and scales. Moral money.
This conversation is one I never thought I'd have. Two professional dancers — one from Alvin Ailey, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and The Lion King, one from The Royal Ballet — both union reps who saw the broken economics from the inside. Both Bitcoiners.
We talked about:
- Arts Council funding for The Royal Ballet dropping from 50%+ to 19% and still falling
- Being at the apex of your career but not at the apex of living
- How his parents ran their own ballet school with zero government grants — "we'd rather it be harder but have freedom"
- First buying Bitcoin in 2015 for 50 pounds and not understanding it
- COVID, money printing, The Bitcoin Standard, and the moment everything clicked
- The tension of being a union deputy with growing libertarian leanings
- Christopher Wheeldon's new production company and where Bitcoin fits in dance
- His vision for a choreography studio in London running on a Bitcoin standard
- Trying to orange-pill The Royal Ballet (twice) — and the low time preference path forward
- Building a Bitcoin treasury for his church
- His advice to young dancers: "Don't ignore Bitcoin at your own peril" "We're at the apex of our career but we're not at the apex of living. That's exactly why Bitcoin For The Arts exists."

During Melbourne's brutal 2020-2021 lockdowns — the longest in the world — Matt picked up his instruments and refused to stay silent. He lost friends, employment, and was censored across every major platform. He doubled down, releasing raw dissident music for free on a value-for-value model.
When he discovered Nostr and the ValueVerse, everything changed. A censorship-resistant home where he could finally connect directly with listeners.
"I am happily returning the value I have received for my music back into the ValueVerse where I gain much value."
