“It’s this really difficult thing to describe or fully grasp until you start playing around with it… There’s a lot to feel pessimistic about in the world right now. But at the same time, things like Nostr, Lightning, and Bitcoin feel like green shoots of hope coming through.”

Tom on why these tools feel like real sources of hope — not theory, but something you start to feel once you actually use them.

What’s giving you real hope right now in Bitcoin or Nostr?

“I try my best to be efficient with words… I’ve reached the best version of the song when there’s nothing left to take away — not when there’s nothing more to add.”

Joe on the craft of songwriting: stripping away the excess until only what’s essential remains, with the goal of telling a three-hour movie in three minutes.

It’s a beautiful reminder that great art often comes from subtraction, not addition.

“You don’t own your content. You are the product.”

on why she gets suppressed and shadowbanned on TikTok — and why she now builds on Nostr.

On centralized platforms your work can be taken down, demonetized, or hidden at any moment.

On Nostr 💜 🧡 💜 → You own your content → You can stay anonymous → No one can change the rules on you overnight

This is the difference that actually matters for artists and creators. ⚡

🧡 Artists getting zapped live while performing is next level.

In our latest Share Your Bitcoin Journey episode,

shares what it felt like to be paid in real-time Bitcoin zaps while performing live using Nostr +

.

She got zapped from both the people in the room and the audience watching online — all while creating on stage.

This is what value-for-value looks like in action.

The technology doesn’t replace the live experience — it enhances it. You keep the energy in the room while opening it up to anyone, anywhere.

What do you think — is live zapping during performances the future?

Art isn’t a luxury. It’s health infrastructure.

Peer-reviewed research (Fancourt, Steptoe, WHO, epigenetic studies) shows arts engagement is linked to: • slower biological aging • lower mortality risk • reduced depression & anxiety • better cognition • stronger social connection

Yet we keep funding culture like it’s disposable — on fragile, inflationary fiat rails that break every cycle.

Bitcoin For The Arts is building a different model: direct Bitcoin grants, long-term reserves, and sound money rails worthy of real cultural health infrastructure.

🧡 Bitcoin For The Arts — Issue #7 just dropped

The Dispatch: Portland, the ARPA Cliff, and our new Research Portal.

Key highlights: • Sponsoring Bitcoin Is For Everyone in Portland (May 22–23) with artist Beth Alta Fletcher (Lady Nakamoto) on the ground • 21% subscriber discount — code: BITCOINFORTHEARTS • Deep dive on the accelerating ARPA Cliff — arts funding collapsing in the US and globally • Launching our Research Portal — bringing real data and rigor to sound money patronage • Camp Nakamoto updates + Pubkey DC in September

Sound money for sovereign artists is not optional — it’s necessary.

The entire National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) annual budget is roughly $207 million.

At today’s price, that’s only ~2,559 Bitcoin. Let that sink in.

One federal agency — full of politics, gatekeeping, and yearly uncertainty — operates on what the Bitcoin community could comfortably rally together.

Now imagine what we could actually build with sound money: • A sovereign global artist endowment that grows in value over decades • Direct Bitcoin micro-grants to creators (no middlemen, no revocation) • Residencies, studios, performances, exhibitions, and on-chain patronage • Real freedom for artists to create without begging bureaucrats

Fiat funding is fragile and temporary. Sound money can create a true cultural renaissance that lasts.

Who’s ready to stack sats for sovereign art?

Bitcoin For The Arts is already building it.

The ARPA Cliff is here.

Boston just proposed a 27% cut to its Office of Arts and Culture as the federal pandemic sugar high finally ends. $26M+ in temporary fiat injections drying up. Small orgs and independent artists getting wrecked first — as usual.

This isn’t a local story. It’s nationwide. Fiat arts funding was always fragile: one-time stimulus, political whims, inflating dollars, and budgets that treat culture as a luxury item to cut when reality hits.

We’re building the alternative at Bitcoin For The Arts.

• Direct BTC micro-grants to artists’ wallets (no middlemen, no revocation) • Radical transparency + 55/30/10/5 model • A growing HODL Vault endowment that actually appreciates over time Sound money for sovereign creators. Low time preference culture.

What a showcase. So many talented artists performing live, and the energy was electric. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to capture footage of every artist.

Biggest highlight — watching the production team make sure every artist got paid directly in Lightning zaps in real time. That’s exactly the kind of value-for-value future we’re trying to build at BFTA.

Shoutout to

and the entire Tunestr crew for pulling this off.

We are cultivating the world. So it makes sense to me that if the artists are cultivating the world and are the change agents that are creating the world that we want to live in, then it makes sense that artists should lead the sound money journey to allow people to see the type of world that we can create when we have a better system.

We just published a new artist story on Bitcoin For The Arts:

— Dissident Beats from the World's Longest Lockdown

During Melbourne's brutal 2020-2021 lockdowns — the longest in the world — Matt picked up his instruments and refused to stay silent. He lost friends, employment, and was censored across every major platform. He doubled down, releasing raw dissident music for free on a value-for-value model.

When he discovered Nostr and the ValueVerse, everything changed. A censorship-resistant home where he could finally connect directly with listeners.

"I am happily returning the value I have received for my music back into the ValueVerse where I gain much value."

He's already onboarded two other musicians to V4V and Nostr. His advice to fellow creators: "Be brave. Risk being cancelled to express yourself. Embrace censorship-resistant protocols and turn your back on the platforms."

From Poland, this hand-embroidery master (22+ years tailoring) weaves Bitcoin sovereignty into every stitch—staying HUMAN in a tech world. She discovered BTC in 2016 via her husband, turned skepticism into breakthroughs (first BTC art sale = game-changer), survived hard times with community support (

-funded sewing machines!), and now runs https://buybitart.com + open-source BitcoinArt project for uncensorable artist sites.

Favorites: "Eyes of Bitcoin" (her companion through tough days), "Bitcoin Footprint" (soul's unique imprint of freedom), "The Girl with the Bitcoin Eye" (strength & vision for Bitcoin women).

Bitcoin = phoenix, nature's force, direct payments via BTCPay, no gatekeepers.
