New version of
out today!
If you want a freedom appstore you can get it https://zapstore.dev/apps/co.openvine.app and also it's out on the big corporate appstores too.
We did a ton of work on the camera and making the app feel amazing.
Put a clip anywhere. Lift it out of the timeline and place it over another clip. Move, resize, rotate, or make it see-through. Change its backdrop, use a color mask, or put it back in the timeline.
Freeze the good bit. Hold a frame for part of your loop, then let the action continue. Music and voice-over keep going while the clip’s own sound pauses.
Mix stop motion and camera clips in the same loop.
Try 21 visual effects: glitch, block glitch, RGB split, VHS, static, old film, film grain, interference, CRT, pixelate, pixel pulse, shake, zoom pulse, mirror, kaleidoscope, split screen, wave, glow, vignette, strobe, and negative flash. Adjust their strength and choose when they appear.
Flashing effects add a Flashing Lights warning when you post.
Color mask gets more flexible. The tool formerly called Green screen can work with an evenly lit white wall, too. On supported devices, the new recording mode lets you see the replacement background while you shoot.
More fonts, less fiddling. The font picker now has 128 fonts grouped by style. Resize text with a pinch, let it wrap at the video’s edges, and add outlines or shadows to text and captions.
Make captions move with your words. Word-by-word highlighting joins the caption styles.
Keep a look you love. Save title styling and animations, or caption styles, to reuse in another video.
Choose where a slide starts. Tap a point on the video to set the starting position of a slide animation.
Find the right speed faster. One-tap speed presets sit alongside the slider. Scrub past either end of the timeline to check the loop restart, and find editing actions by their labels.
Sound like yourself. Or a robot.
Bring your own sounds. Add AAC, M4A, MP3, or WAV files to My Sounds.
Imported files stay on the device where you added them.
Share a sound without posting a video first. Publish reusable audio with credit attached, and remove it from Divine’s sound listings when you choose.
Find the sound you meant. Search community sounds by tags and credited creators, and search saved sounds by their private names and tags.
See a sound’s travels. Reuse counts appear in the sound picker and creator analytics.
Give any sound track a different voice. Try high pitch, low pitch, robot, or echo, and reduce background noise. For a clip’s own sound, extract its audio to a track first. You can change or remove the effect later.
Give quiet audio a lift. Turn clips and sound tracks up to 300%, and fade individual tracks in or out.
Record voice-over with the picture in view. The muted video plays behind you as you record.
Reuse classic Vine audio again, while respecting creators who have turned reuse off.
Catch the moment
Hold the camera button to start recording. A regular tap still opens the camera.
A brighter front-camera flash. The area around the preview lights up to help illuminate your shot.
Capture comes first in the recorder’s mode picker.
Better recording recovery. We fixed interrupted recordings, missing audio at the start of iOS clips, audio drifting out of sync, and stop-motion shots not joining the right clip after a trip to the editor.
For Mac creators: improved camera support, including external USB webcams and Continuity Camera.
Make it now. Share it when you’re ready.
Schedule new posts. Choose Tonight, Tomorrow morning, or a date and time. Find scheduled posts above Drafts. For posts scheduled on this device, you can change their time, post now, cancel, or retry when needed. Posts scheduled on another device can be cancelled here.
Tag the right person. Pick an account as you type an @ mention, even when people share a display name.
Credit more than one inspiration. Add multiple creators to Inspired By.
Find crossposting more easily. Connection and reconnection prompts are easier to reach from Settings and your video’s share menu.
Know where a shared video went. Sharing feedback tells you which recipients succeeded and which didn’t.
A profile that feels like yours
Pin up to six videos at the top of your profile, and remove unavailable pins to make room.
Find bookmarks in their own profile tab.
Get a clearer picture of your audience. Open creator analytics from your profile’s Loops stat, see unique viewers per video, and see how often your sounds are reused.
Give classic loops their due. Archived Vine loops count toward a creator’s total, and live Divine loops are kept distinct from the archive count.
Open shared public people lists and browse their members, with a refreshed list view and fixes that help list videos load from the right creators.
Keep your profile information intact. Saving in Divine preserves details added through other compatible apps.
Watch your way
Hold a video to pause it while you’re pressing.
Pinch to hide the feed controls and give the video more space.
Choose which numbers you see. Viewer settings let you control the profile and video stats shown to you.
A cleaner feed layout puts more focus on the creator.
Smoother loops on iOS and Android. Fixes tackle pauses, clicks, silent starts, and freezes at the loop boundary.
Less stuttering and waiting. Scrolling does less repeated work, cached videos stay available when you switch feeds, and Android avoids downloading the same looping clip twice.
Keep your place. Full-screen feeds behave better when you open another screen or a profile updates. Editing a video no longer moves it to the front of New.
Find the right content. Changing your content language refreshes For You and Popular. Video and profile links work more reliably, and large liked-by lists keep loading.
Captions behave more consistently. Turning them off sticks across videos, classic captions don’t appear twice, and subtitle downloads preserve non-English characters.
Messages that keep up
Send encrypted videos in one-to-one chats. Open them full-screen and save received videos to your device.
Better message recovery. We fixed cases where messages or group conversations went missing, older history stopped loading, and retrying a send gave confusing results.
More honest delivery feedback. A failed send, reaction, or delete-for-everyone request is easier to spot and retry.
Better conversations with other Nostr apps. Fixes help messages and reactions reach the recipient’s chosen inbox.
Less inbox clutter and confusion. Group names, account names, message-request counts, and closed conversations are handled more consistently. We removed a mute-conversation switch that didn’t actually mute anything.
More control. Clearer answers.
Settings are organized around what you want to do, with better contrast and hierarchy in light mode.
Choose whether to share usage analytics. Marketing messages also have an explicit opt-in.
Support Divine in the app. Monthly and annual supporter plans are available in App Store and Google Play builds, with optional public profile badges. Renewal terms, purchase restoration, and checkout feedback are clearer. Membership and identity verification are separate things.
Divine now speaks Telugu, alongside translation fixes for settings, recovery messages, and sponsorship disclosures.
See what’s taking up space. Storage settings show more of the app’s disk use and let you clear leftover files. Available app updates are easier to find, too.
More accessible controls. Larger tap targets and clearer screen-reader labels make key feed and profile actions easier to use.
Clearer support choices. Public support submissions explain what will be published. Appeals open private support, and Support Center lets you clear diagnostic logs.
Report now, send when connected. Reports are saved while offline, and photos attached to bug reports have embedded metadata removed.
Safety controls that follow through. Report and Block remain available on other people’s profiles, unblocking updates hidden-account lists consistently, and safety-label changes arrive without restarting. We also tightened protection around key export and diagnostic data.
A simpler start. Invite-code onboarding has been removed.
Less sign-in friction. Fixes cover email verification, password-reset keyboards, rate-limit messages, and opening a restored session while offline.
Better account recovery and deletion handling. Interrupted operations have clearer recovery paths, and normal deletion processing is less likely to send you to support unnecessarily.
The fixes you should notice less
Drafts no longer grow with every edit, and failed or cancelled renders clean up their temporary files.
Export progress is more useful. Stuck renders can recover, cancellation stops work, and storage errors get clearer explanations.
A failed sound download no longer quietly turns your finished video into a silent one.
Cropped and rotated clips keep their proportions. Text stays in place on square exports with mixed-size clips. Android transitions between camera and library clips work more reliably.
Timeline dragging, very short clips, opacity controls, and repeated trimming behave more predictably. An accidental back swipe no longer closes the editor.
Newly published videos stay in your profile and can play while additional versions are still being prepared.
Deleted comments stay deleted, duplicate likes are reduced, and exact account matches rise to the top of search.
Better memory use, cache cleanup, startup recovery, and crash handling help keep the app moving.
The web app loads only the interface language you use, and removing unused components makes Android and Mac downloads smaller.
Thanks to everyone who kept testing, reporting, and making things while we worked through this. Divine gets better because we build it together.
Own what you make. Choose what you see.

A year ago when we started And Other Stuff,
asked me how to take Nostr mainstream, how do we get normies on here, an open protocol. Today I'm really excited to announce that
has a brand partnership with npub1e025j750al9jxy2agnmp337vy6nn9frfc2jgd79zvt9v0wm4h2pshdmxz4
They're posting on Nostr, videos, and they're sending out 40 million invite codes to the divine app, plus running tv and streaming ads for the app when we drop invite codes on the 20th. Divine is part of Nostr and you've always been able to do use the app and our relays with any Nostr nsec and app, but we're building something which makes it accessible to people who never have heard of the idea of open source or protocols.

I keep hitting subscription limits on Codex and Claude, so I'm going to try adding GLM 5.2 (z.ai) to the rotation. Cheapest approach I've found: one Max plan on each, then rotate through them as their 5-hour, daily, and weekly usage windows reset. Going per-token instead is hundreds of times more expensive.
Curious what others are doing to manage cost with heavy agentic coding. Rotating plans? Cheaper models for the routine work? Something smarter?

Interesting there’s a programming language for composable zero knowledge proofs.
I'm at the LocalFirst Conference in Berlin this week after having attended the DWeb camp over the weekend. One thing i think is interesting is there were more Nostr folks, including a number of folks i didn't know well at dweb, but at dweb there was mostly conversations of some new protocols like willow/p2panda/others plus activitypub and atprotocol. A few nostr talks too. Lots of diversity, it was good.
But at LocalFirst i'm mostly hearing folks talk about and excited about ATprotocol, which is interesting because of all the decentralized social protocols, ATprotocol is less local first than the rest. It's a bit disappointing because i think Nostr is a better protocol for what they want to do than ATprotocol, but we've not been reaching out to different communities enough.
There's a kind of interesting collaboration tool for dev in the atrpoto ecosystem: https://tangled.org/
Kind of reminds me of github.com/block/buzz but a different take. It'd be cool if we had a tangled but for nostr. ;-D

Video manifesto! Why I built divine.video

It rains a lot in New Zealand, but i'm not sure folks really understand how much.
739mm of rain just fell on the Tasman region in a weekend.
London gets ~600mm in an entire YEAR.
That's London's whole annual rainfall — plus an extra 140mm — dropped on one NZ hillside in about two days.
Needless to say, there was flooding. New Zealand's main changes it'll see due to climate change is even more rain. So this is just a start.

Divine 1.0.14 is live on iOS.
Three weeks of work since 1.0.12 — more control, cleaner loops, fewer weird edges. This one’s for the people who notice the details.
Creator tools got a serious upgrade. The editor now has clip speed controls, timeline volume editing, local audio imports, audio extraction from your own clips, sharper exported layers, better split/edit state handling, and fewer ways to lose your publish flow when bouncing between recorder and editor. Clip trash also gives you a 30-day safety net before deleted clips are really gone.
Feeds should feel more alive and less haunted. For You routes through recommendations, Popular has better source and time controls, Explore does a better job surfacing fresh diVines, and counts for likes, loops, views, reposts, and reused videos stay steadier. Playback got smoother too — better first-frame behavior, cleaner overlays, stronger cache handling, and more graceful recovery when a video gets fussy.
DMs got a little more human. Emoji reactions landed, markdown-style formatting works, the composer grows as you write, the full emoji picker is wired up, send buttons are more accessible, and message recovery is tougher when delivery only half-succeeds.
Notifications got a big cleanup pass. Taps now land in the right place more often, comment replies are classified more clearly, foreground and local notifications behave more consistently, unread badges stop getting wiped just because you left the page, and iOS alert pushes should no longer double-buzz you. Less noise. More signal.
Profiles, search, and safety got sharper. Profile text and lists linkify better, profile reporting is easier to find, banner/avatar flows are smoother, verified account chips are clearer, search sorting is stronger, blocked users stay out of category feeds, adult-content settings behave more consistently after verification, and our “do not train” C2PA assertion is now always included.
There’s a lot under the hood too: stronger account recovery, safer session refresh, better invite and collaborator recovery, sturdier upload retries, more reliable view tracking, cleaner notification settings, improved reset-password flow, and a bunch of crash and race-condition fixes that should make the app feel calmer even when the network is not.
Short version: better making, better messaging, better feeds, better notifications, and fewer tiny betrayals from your phone.
Welcome Home.

Somebody put my email address in to their tiktok shop account, so i'm now getting order confirmation and shipping updates for the random things they're buying and sending to some farm house in western Kentucky. I'm not sure what or anything i should do about it, but i do find it amusing.
Languages are interesting... I just did an interview for a Miami tv station talking about
. It was fun, but because it's Miami we did it once in English and once in Spanish. I know that language shapes so much more than the words. Because this interview was parallel, we basically did two versions of it. In theory, same people, same interview, the questions would be the same. But in reality the whole flow and narrative was different.
In English it was more the story of the startup, vine, what happened to it, how divine keeps out ai slop. But in Spanish it followed different cultural narratives for the same interview. It was a story of people, nostalgia, what it means to go back to older social media, etc... Neither way of story telling is wrong, just different. And both felt so natural in the language they used.
There are so many vine compilations from the old classics. Now there are compilations of all the new divines!

Hey android users, can you write reviews? also point out how you just need to use Nostr to get around the invite codes? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.openvine.app
You win some, you lose some.
Hey Nostiches please go and review divine in the AppStore and play store and of course zapstore too! These reviews really help. #grownostr

This morning i woke up to see that npub1xffrd6randt5escsvhfk7pm937dsjvgwcg4pa97rjx3rvdh8llkqgqjl6m (Gary Vaynerchuk) is now on Nostr via
. We've got a personal site for him hosted https://garyvee.divine.video/ and a nip05 of [email protected]
For folks who don't know, he's probably the leading expert in social media and branding / marketing. I remember Gary back in the early days of web 2.0, when he got a start promoting his dad's wine shop.
He's somebody who just focuses on working on the apps that work for him and not somebody who fights against the platforms. He's not here because of the protocol, or the freedom, he's here because he thinks divine is a potential important social platform and it happens to use Nostr. Come for the silly videos and stay for the freedom. #growNostr

Something fundamentally has changed again recently. Prompts for agentic coding is moving form telling the agents what to build, to a process of telling the agents a story about why we're building, the intention and meaning of the project. This is a massive step forward we're just take.

Orban has lost and will no longer lead Hungary. This is huge as Orban and his Fidesz party represented the most anti-democratic forces in the EU, and a major force driving politics around the world to the right. The Fidesz movement endangered the EU project, and provided the model for Trump's second term in power and project 2025.
What's most surprising to me is how Orban was defeated. The Hungarian opposition tried everything from going to the left, the right, center, coalitions, protest movements, civil resistance, and tons of other things. And it didn't work. Orban consolidated control over the media, shutdown any opposition organization or educational institutions, used the tax code to strip organizations of their funding and legal status, blacklisted opposition leaders.
And yet Orban would win super majorities over and over again. What's finally worked was a scandal of corruption from within Fidesz and their governing coalition which exposed the contradictions of Orban's strongman anticorruption message with the reality of how authoritarians keep power.
Authoritarians have a carrot and stick model of power, if you comply you get benefits, sometimes those happen illegally, construction contracts, get out of jail despite your crimes, etc... or a stick, where they attack the opposition the way progressive politicians where attacked and NGO's were shutdown.
With all of the opposition destroyed in Hungary what happened was the corruption got worse and eventually became a scandal that was too big to contain. Loyal members of Fidesz split and created their own party, because that's the only political force left in the country. And people voted for the new faction, not because they wanted radical change, but because they got fed up with Orban's lies. Will the new leadership of Hungary, Péter Magyar’s Tisza, be any better? Honestly i have no idea. But the downfall of one wanna be dictator is a good thing.
To Orban's credit, he's admitting he lost and not trying to pull a January 6th! Perhaps because his replacement come from a group of ex-loyalists, and his right wing project may continue. I'm not sure.
Mets losing the social media cases in New Mexico and California is bad. We’re losing the right to an open internet as people react to the bad behavior of a single company. The laws won’t care that Nostr had no company behind it or that it’s an open source permissionless protocol.

I'm listening to the ATmosphere conference and just came across panproto: https://panproto.dev/
On the surface it’s a project about schema version control and migrations across systems like atproto, sql, protobuf, graphql, json schema, etc. which sounds a little dry until you think about what that actually means for open protocols.
One of the recurring problems in protocol ecosystems is that we treat compatibility and migration as if they’re just social coordination problems right up until they become infrastructure problems. then every client, relay, indexer, bridge, and app ends up carrying around its own private pile of assumptions.
Nostr has a lot of strengths because it evolves loosely and permissionlessly. that flexibility matters. but it also means a lot of the real schema evolution in nostr happens informally: new kinds, new tag meanings, app-specific conventions, and changing assumptions spread unevenly through the ecosystem.
Feels especially relevant for long-lived clients, relays, indexers, and definitely for anything trying to bridge nostr with atproto or other networks.
anyway, interesting project. protocol people might want to take a look
