Use it as your heart desires, because you have proven yourself through your actions throughout your time in this community. It’s not just this one person, but many others in the Bitcoin Thailand community who support what I am doing. It’s not just about money; sometimes it’s the questions, the concern, or even asking how things are going today. These small gestures reflect the care everyone has for those working in this space, even if they themselves are not physically here. Benefits are something no one talks about, and judgment is meaningless. What you’ve encountered or experienced in life is almost irrelevant. Love you all #siamstr

“No need,” I said. “Just download an app, start using it, and transfer some money to me so you can try paying for coffee right away.”

He’s contemplating finding a new buddy because Puma (pictured), who’s already 10 years old, might be better suited to just guarding the house as usual.

While searching, he came across a page that facilitates the adoption of dogs who didn’t make the cut at military dog training centers. From inquiries, he learned that the dogs are quite aggressive (which is the main reason why they’re not often bid on), but this comes with the advantage of not needing to train them himself. Additionally, these are specific breeds. The “dowry” for each dog is 13,000 baht, with an extra 200 baht per day if they’re kept at the training center.

He has a lot to consider, including the fact that once the dog is brought home, there won’t be anyone to take care of it if he needs to go elsewhere. There’s also the risk of unforeseen incidents. Even if he decides to adopt, he would still need to meet the dog first to see if they “spark joy” together. The distance from Kalasin to Pak Chong is quite a journey in itself.

A generous elder, the owner of a cassava yard in Pattaya, told me, “Mick, if you go to adopt the dog, I’ll cover half the cost.” Let me think about it first, brother, whether it really has to be one of these two dogs.

However, since they invited me to the meeting, I wanted to hear what they were discussing. There is ambiguity, a lack of transparency, incidents of theft late at night, and yes, during the local government’s operations, I volunteered to act as a security guard from 9 PM to midnight. How the market’s executive committee manages things, who oversees what, I have no idea. Then there’s the matter of leasing market stalls, which adds to the vendors’ costs. This is an issue that needs continued monitoring. If they had ensured transparency from the beginning, this wouldn’t be a problem. But they didn’t. P.S. There’s a new mayor. Perhaps they’ll need to announce a call for volunteers from the community and find suitable incentives for those willing to help.

Here’s the translation of your conversation into English:

When I posted a clip summarizing how to make Huai Phueng District accept Bitcoin payments:

“This is a good idea, but I still think using cryptocurrency for payments requires building a specific community for transactions and exchanges. If we still need to reference another currency, like the Thai Baht, for calculations, the high volatility might make it unsuitable and lead to profit or loss issues. This doesn’t even mention the need for education, understanding, and confidence in such currency. Also, the post references Bitcoin with a value of 1 to 2,300,000 Baht, which might feel too distant for residents here. Perhaps we should focus on something more tangible and feasible without wasting time. Personally, I’m still ‘holding’ Bitkub at around 200 Baht.”

Response: “There is now a second layer of Bitcoin, allowing us to use smaller units. One Baht can get you 40 Satoshi (1 Bitcoin = 100,000,000 Satoshi). Wallet apps let you specify amounts directly in Baht.

My suggestion doesn’t even cover the acceptance channels yet, as that’s a minor point in introducing this idea. What I’m addressing are the risks, understanding, and purpose of implementing this change. Cryptocurrency undeniably involves investment. If there’s no intent to buy for profit, the need to exchange Baht for Bitcoin is practically zero. If the target audience we aim to educate becomes interested but lacks knowledge and has unchecked greed, they might face unnecessary losses. As for referencing 1 Bitcoin at 2,300,000 Baht, it was to highlight the vast difference in value. Recommending this to those without thorough knowledge could be highly risky, as it could wipe them out overnight. While I support this idea within the crypto community, it’s a difficult, high-risk concept for the general public here. This point might not be worth it.”

Response: “I understand your concerns. I can’t educate everyone if they aren’t genuinely interested. Even if they were interested in speculation, I wouldn’t teach it because Bitcoin was designed as hard money. I’d only recommend saving gradually, like putting away 10 or 20 Baht after essential expenses.

What Huai Phueng intends is for businesses to receive Bitcoin from goods and services rather than investing. Just open up to receive payments; that’s it.”

Response: “I disagree with the notion of Bitcoin’s stability. A couple of years ago, its value dropped from over 2 million Baht to around 900,000 Baht. If you think of it as saving in a piggy bank in Baht, the 10 Baht you put away might drop to 5 Baht overnight in crypto. And the idea of ‘no investment’ is incorrect since exchanging Baht for a highly volatile cryptocurrency is speculative investment. If you buy Bitcoin with 10 Baht and its value drops to 8 Baht, you wouldn’t be able to buy a snack worth 10 Baht. In the end, why would local businesses adopt such a risky currency over the more stable Baht?”

Response: “Because other currencies can’t maintain value; even if they’re more stable, they suffer from inflation. Take the US Dollar, for instance; its value has fallen by 99% since the US government abandoned the gold standard. When money can’t retain its purchasing power, prices go up, and savers can never rest.”

Response: “This reason doesn’t seem relevant to our current debate. In our country, goods are valued in Baht based on the dollar as an intermediary. We can’t separate Baht’s value from the economic system. That’s all I’ll argue on this.”

Response: “I’d actually like to continue this discussion. Although there are risks in accepting Bitcoin, it doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Those ready to exchange Bitcoin for Baht for foreigners can charge reasonable transaction fees with a high level of privacy. Feel free to drop by the shop and chat. Thank you!”

The challenge of doing something you’ve never done before is simply taking that first step. Usually, it takes at least 30 minutes to an hour to explain “money,” the current financial system, and how it affects people, to build understanding and implement peer-to-peer solutions. I can’t imagine the impact we could make if we had a team working on-site.

To the people of Huay Phueng, or anyone around the world with the heart and time to help, you’re welcome to join us. We have coffee, a place to sleep (above the shop), and if we have a larger group, we’ll ask the temple for food support.

Yesterday, a young woman dropped by for coffee and shared some gossip about the market vendors after I had visited the market. She asked me for more information about Bitcoin, so I asked her to help manage the vendors’ payments for now—she could collect the payments, and if she wanted to convert them to Thai baht, she could come to me. What made me laugh was when she said, “I don’t want Thai baht. I want Bitcoin!”

Orange pill in 5 minute.

My coffee shop serves as a pick-up and drop-off point for bus passengers. I heard this young woman saying goodbye to someone who had come to see her off. When she walked in, she asked, “Can I wait for the bus here?” I smiled and nodded, then asked her, “Where are you headed?”

After chatting for a while, I learned that she’s a first-year medical technology student in Chiang Mai. While I was updating the map on BTC Map, I stepped outside to check on her. She was wearing a shirt that covered her entire face, as shown in the picture. So, I asked, “Aren’t you hot?” She replied that she was worried about getting tanned, afraid of the sun. I joined her, sitting in the sunlight, and we started talking about the sun and eventually about metabolic balance.

After a bit, I told her, “If you graduate, Huai Phueng might look different from today.” She then mentioned that she likes economics. So, I asked, “Do you know about inflation?” She said she did. I asked her, “Why does inflation happen?” She replied, “To help the economy grow.” I then explained more about money to her. Finally, she opened her Lightning wallet, and I gave her a small gift of 1,000 satoshis.

If you want to use a rental car service, they will take you to a coffee shop first to negotiate the price and make the payment with Bitcoin. This is just an initial convenience, and further development will continue.
