Yesterday, we had an amazing and insightful session with the BitcoinSafariTz community as we continued our Bitcoin Diploma journey. We successfully wrapped up Chapter 03 Part 1, which focused on the History of Money, led by our incredible educator, Tochi Onyia.

In this session, we dove deep into understanding the evolution of money — starting from the barter system where goods and services were exchanged directly, to the rise of modern currencies. We explored the transition from sound money (like gold and silver) to unsound money(like fiat currencies), and examined the problems with early forms of money, including issues of durability, divisibility, portability, and acceptance.

It was truly eye-opening to trace how human societies have continually adapted their monetary systems over centuries, and how these lessons shape the need for a better form of money today — like Bitcoin.

Yesterday’s Proof-of-Work session was absolutely amazing! We had the pleasure of being guided by Linda, the founder of Bitsavers, who took us on an insightful journey into the world of Bitcoin wallets. 💡

Linda dove deep into the introduction of Bitcoin wallets, exploring both self-custodial wallets like Phoenix and Electrum, as well as custodial wallets like Blink. We discussed the differences between various types of Bitcoin wallets, the speed of transactions, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. The session was incredibly informative and engaging, thanks to the expert support of Graysatoshi, who helped clarify many key points.

We hope all applicants for our 1st Free Bitcoin Diploma Course (BitcoinSafariTz) have received our emails.

Our official course start date is Monday, 10/02/2025, and we’re excited to have participants from Tanzania and all around the world! Let’s work together to drive Bitcoin adoption knowledge & education.

Important Information to Note:

• Platform: Our daily online classes will be conducted via Google Meet. If you don’t have the app, please download it from your App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

• Course Structure: Each chapter will feature a co-host and speaker (Bitcoin Educators) who will guide the class and provide key insights.

• Class Time: Classes will be held from 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM East Africa Time (EAT), which is 12:00 PM EST.

• Class Days: We will have 3 classes per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

• Attendance: We will record all class sessions. Please ensure your active participation and ask questions during the class. Active participation is required to stay eligible for the certificate.

• Assignments: It’s important to submit all assignments on time. Failure to do so or skipping classes will result in disqualification from the final exams and no certificate.

• Final Exams: You must score above 60% in the final exam to be eligible for a certificate .

• Language: The official language of the course will be English for clear and efficient communication.

Educating 400+ University Students and Communities about the Bitcoin Lightning Network We introduced over 400 university students and various communities in Tanzania to Bitcoin's Lightning Network, a crucial innovation that many had never heard of before. We're excited to see this growing interest in the faster, more scalable layer of Bitcoin transactions.

2. Promoting Bitcoin Wallets (Custodial and Non-Custodial) Supporting Lightning and Onchain Transactions

We introduced Tanzanians to a variety of Bitcoin wallets that support both Lightning Network and on-chain transactions. These included popular wallets like:

• Wallet of Satoshi
• Lifpay Wallet
• Phoenix Wallet

4. Introducing Free Bitcoin Education Apps

   Recognizing the rise of scams in the Bitcoin education space, we introduced Tanzanians to reputable Bitcoin education apps where they could access free resources and courses. Apps included:

   • Bitcoin Magazine App
   • Fountain App
   • Yzer App

5. Bitcoin Diploma Courses for Tanzanians

   We introduced Tanzanian newcomers to the Bitcoin Diploma Course through TheCore21m and provided opportunities for some women to learn about Bitcoin through BTCDada.com. These courses equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to understand Bitcoin’s role in society.

6. Tanzanians Attended the Africa Bitcoin Conference
   Four Bitcoiners from Tanzania had the privilege of attending one of the biggest Bitcoin conferences in Africa. This was a fantastic opportunity to network, learn, and engage with some of the most impactful Bitcoin projects across the continent.

7. Bitcoin Adoption in the Tourism Sector
   In the tourism sector, we’re thrilled to announce that 5 tour companies in Tanzania now accept Bitcoin payments. These include:
