Bitfest

London has more than one Bitcoin room. 🍊

Bitcoin London. Battersea Bitcoiners. London BitDevs. Faith and Bitcoin. City & Financial Bitcoiners. Antidote. 2140Art. 2140.wtf

Different audiences. Same network.

Which one have you actually turned up to?

#OrangeOctoberBTC

No sponsor challenge. No fixed product category.

Build what matters.

The Bitfest Hackathon is open format: your project can take different forms, but it should meaningfully use Bitcoin and/or Nostr.

Bring the problem you actually want to solve.

20–21 Nov · Manchester

https://bitfest.uk/hackathon/

Bitcoin has a huge online network.

But sometimes you need a table, a pub, a café and a few actual humans.

Local communities are where people ask questions, find collaborators, demo things, learn and occasionally discover that the weird internet person they’ve been talking to for three years is actually quite normal.

Who’s doing Bitcoin IRL near you?

Tag your local meetup.

Ireland / Northern Ireland check-in. 🍊

Belfast Bitcoin Meetup. Galway Bitcoin Meetup. Limerick Bitcoin. Bitcoin Wexford. Bitcoin Network Ireland. Bitcoin Ireland Conference.

Bitcoin IRL crosses borders rather well.

Who are we missing?

Bitfest shouldn’t just be a list of people with microphones.

What would you actually bring into the room?

A workshop. A demo. A problem worth discussing. A project people can try. Something you’ve learned the hard way.

If you’ve got something useful to contribute, tell us.

https://bitfest.uk/

South Coast check-in. 🍊

Brighton Bitcoin. Bitcoin Beach Bournemouth. Portsmouth Bitcoin. Southampton Satoshi Society. Purbeck Bitcoin.

Five active communities on the current list.

Who are we missing?

Point us at the people actually turning up and doing the work.

Cloudflare down.

Nostr up. 😏🟣

What if investing in a project didn’t mean handing over your Bitcoin and simply hoping for the best? 🍊

At Bitfest 2025, Dan Gershony introduced Angor, a decentralised crowdfunding protocol built around Bitcoin and Nostr.

Using staged timelocks, Angor is designed to keep investors in greater control of unspent funds while creating stronger accountability for founders.

Dan walks through the thinking behind the protocol, the problems it aims to solve and where Angor v2 is heading.

“Nobody’s using Bitcoin.”

“There’s no Bitcoin scene here.”

So we looked.

At least 84 active communities, projects, organisations, networks, events and proof-of-work initiatives across the UK & Ireland.

The scene is already here.

Orange October is about showing the people, places and proof of work behind it.

Who should we be pointing people towards?

🎤 Andy Princz live at Bitfest 2025.

As part of the New Music Economy Concert at Factory251, Andy brought together hip-hop, live instrumentation and independent artist energy in a performance that perfectly captured what this side of Bitfest is about.

The New Music Economy is about more than putting music on a Bitcoin event.

It’s about artists experimenting with new tools, new models and new ways to build direct relationships with their audience.

Who would you bring to Bitfest who isn’t a Bitcoiner yet?

A developer? An artist? A student? A small-business owner? A privacy nerd? A sceptical friend?

And what would the event need to give them for the trip to be worthwhile?

What could you teach somebody in 30 minutes that would make them more capable afterwards?

Set up a tool? Understand a protocol? Improve their privacy? Run something themselves? Build a small project?

Bitfest needs practical contributors as much as speakers.

Bitfest shouldn’t just be people talking about Bitcoin.

What can people actually try? What can they build with? What can somebody teach in a room that leaves people more capable afterwards?

If you’re working on something practical and want to bring it to Manchester, reply or get in touch.

About 24 hours left on the Bitfest Early Bird.

£99 for the full festival now. £149 after Sunday.

That ticket includes Freedom Fest on Saturday too.

If you’re coming to Manchester, this is the last cheap window.

A good Bitcoin event should send you home with something to do.

Run a node. Join a meetup. Try a wallet. Contribute to a project. Build something. Teach somebody else.

What’s the best thing an event has made you actually do afterwards?

There is a clear relay/cache issue happening with our website link preview showing as 2025, even with the very old placeholder logo.

The issue only occurs in Nostr, as everywhere else links are fine.

Who can assist us in a resolution?

Bitcoin doesn’t exist in isolation.

Privacy, open protocols, censorship-resistant communications, permissionless payments and tools that give people more control over their digital lives all belong in the wider conversation.

That’s part of what we want Bitfest to make room for: not just talking about freedom technology, but seeing what people are actually building and using.

The programme is still evolving.

https://bitfest.uk

Friday is basically the most Nostr-shaped day of the whole Bitfest weekend.

Nostrshire by day. nPub Dub by night.

If you’re coming to Manchester in November, this is where a lot of the online world becomes IRL.

he new Bitfest 2026 site is live. ⚡

4 days. 7 events. 9 zones across Manchester.

The first speaker wave is up too — builders, creators, artists, educators and Bitcoiners, with plenty more still to come.

This year stretches from Bitflix and Nostrshire through nPub Dub, Bitfest, Pepe.X, New Music Economy and Sunday Socials.

Talks. Workshops. Art. Gaming. Music. Builders. Businesses. Family activities. And plenty of Bitcoin IRL.

Have a scroll:

https://bitfest.uk

And because this is Nostr…

Who, or what, do you want to see at Bitfest this year?

Tag them. Tell us what you'd like to see built, discussed, hacked on or argued about.

First wave. Definitely not the final line-up. 😏

Friday at Bitfest isn’t just another conference day.

takes over the daytime programme at Pendulum with talks, workshops, exhibition and the Hack Zone.

Then the conversation carries on at NPub Dub at Joshua Brooks.

That’s much closer to how Bitcoin and Nostr communities actually work: people build, argue, teach, experiment, then carry the conversation into the night.
