, Over the last few years its been great seeing your work on Nostr and I have been trying new techniques inspired by your work, its been like going to art school again. I have almost always worked in pen or pencil and have drawn realistic subjects, and have been fascinated by impressionist painting styles, but never had any instruction on how to paint in that way. My father was an accomplished watercolor artist. He passed away in 2015 and left an incredible amount of work, much of it untitled.

Some of it is professionally matted and framed, some isn’t.

Good morning everyone! I took a bit of time off of nostr and came back to find a new trend of people talking about how not a lot of people are using nostr.

A year ago, there weren’t many people using nostr. The difference was that most people were excited that this was a new option for interacting with others and were proud of its community.

There was a ton of ridiculous bitcoin-themed AI-generated pictures. People were staring little businesses, like a craft fair that cost nothing to sign up for.

I found Nostr a little overwhelming to navigate at first, because it was so different from what i expected.

But reaching out to #asknostr for technical questions and getting immediate answers was the thing that really blew my mind. People here had a tangible sense of community and were happy to help each other out.

I tried my hand at selling handmade things like roll-up holders for pens and gadgets, which i posted on #penroll I posted stuff on #artstr .

I bought some pecan butter/bars from

. I went to a Nostr Valley event and met some of you in person and had a great time.

It really seemed like the folks here were happy about NOT having a bazillion people and bots swarming about and ranting uselessly.

Now here we are a year later, I took a little break and came back to Nostr and it seems like folks are bummed out that there aren’t tons of users and bots. I assure you, there are plenty of bots.

But the excitement of having a different type of option for interacting has deflated, even though a ton of exciting development is still going on.

There aren’t a billion people here and there never will be. Thats a good thing.

The majority of people will not come here. The reason is that a majority of people aren’t on here already. That’s just how the world works.

8.5x8.5x1” bloodwood display table, 1 inch legs with felt feet for safe use on any surface. Sealed with beeswax, so its not waterproof but it brings out the color and grain of the wood and it would be ridiculous to put any weird chemicals onto wood this amazing.

I’m not a dev, but this is my version of building something unexpected and cool.

Started with a Casio Duro.

Removed the dial so all branding is gone.

Added a 33mm blank dial from another skeletonized watch since it had a large center opening (originally to see an automatic movement) that would work to expose the entire date wheel and tiny holes that line up with 1,2,4,5,7,8,10,11.

The current date is whatever is at 3 o’clock.

Replaced the hands.

Replaced the chapter ring. I like having it ever-so-slightly off center.

Put the caseback back on.

Voila. Now i have the quartz equivalent of a skeletonized watch. No branding, no apps, no connectivity, no wifi, just the time and date.

Screwdown crown, 200m water resistant, unidirectional 120-click bezel, stainless steel case, 22mm lugs.

The engraver I was using sold his business and I wanted to reach out to the Nostr community to see if I can get this done and pay with sats.

I’m looking to have a couple blank circles cut out to be used for watch dials that I can engrave by hand.

The material has to be extremely thin, .5mm or less, and I have used .2mm thick aluminum previously. The aluminum usually comes in small sheets and is anodized or treated somehow with different colors.

The details: 33mm outside diameter circle 2.2mm diameter hole in center for the watch hands. That’s it, couldn’t be easier.
