30 pages in and this is already everything I love about smart, honest characters in a genre setting. 🤩

If you haven’t read The Old Man’s War by John Scalzi and you like sci-fi, I highly recommend it. 🚀

R.I.P. Gil Gerard. 🥺

On special nights when I was growing up, we could watch TV as a family while having dinner. My sister wanted to watch Little House on the Prairie. I wanted to watch Buck Rogers.

Dad wanted to watch Buck Rogers, so I won. 😬🚀

If you’re interested in science fiction and fantasy art by Michael Whalen, his website shop has his first art book, Wonderworks, available as a PDF for $10 ($15 after January 1st).

120 pages. Introductions to 6 genres by writers such as Poul Anderson, Michael Moorcock, C.J. Cherryh, Anne McCaffrey, Gerald Page, and Alan Dean Foster. Tons of cover art and concept sketches.

This was originally published in 1979, so it’s Michael’s early works.

I keep watching the Murderbot trailer. Not the voice I expected, takes some getting used to, but I think I’m going to love it. 🦾

10 eps which cover the first novella, All Systems Red by Martha Wells.

Mom and I tried the first of the Jack Hunter films …. and didn’t need to watch any further. Kinda of a C-grade Indiana Jones. Which lead us to talking about … Indiana Jones.

So we watched the good (odd-numbered) ones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, IJ and the Last Crusade, and IJ and the Dial of Destiny.

I told her we could skip IJ and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull … which reminded her of one of her favorite Stargate SG-1 eps.

So now we’re watching SG1. Starting at the beginning of Season 3 because that season has her ep.

Watched the movie Creator last night. The special effects are well integrated and the environments look great in the letterboxed format. The story didn’t do anything for me. I really enjoyed John David Washington in Tenet, but I think he had far less to work with in Creator. Recommended if you like environmental sci-fi design.
