Bitcoin Africa Story

Susan Githaiga is making her mark in open-source Bitcoin development! 🚀

Her contribution to Mujina, an open-source Bitcoin mining firmware project, is a powerful reminder that even small code contributions can make a meaningful difference in global technology.

By simplifying part of the project's codebase and reducing an external software dependency, Susan demonstrated the value of practical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration in open-source development.

But there's a bigger story here... 👇

➣ African developers are contributing to global Bitcoin infrastructure.

➣ Women are building their place in the open-source ecosystem.

➣ With the right training and opportunities, African talent can make a global impact.

Susan's milestone also highlights the importance of initiative like DADA DEVS and

in helping African women develop practical Bitcoin and Lightning skills.

The future of Bitcoin is open-source, collaborative, and African developers are part of that future. 🌍

BITCOIN IS FAMILY🧡

May 22, 2010. Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. The world laughed. "Idiots paying millions for pizza!"

They missed the point entirely. For the first time in history, someone bought a real-world good with money that NO government issued, NO bank approved, and NO intermediary touched.

As Laszlo himself said: "It wasn't about the pizza. It was about proving it works." Today's payment processors still take 3% and 3 days to settle. That pizza transaction settled in less 10 minutes. In 2010. On a laptop.

Bitcoin is for everyone → even students are proving it.

In our recent program, we brought Bitcoin to a summer school program, and it was worth it.

🎥 Student Reflections from our recent Program: Money, Savings & Bitcoin for Students 🎥

🗣️ “I learned the importance of money, savings, and Bitcoin.”

🗣️ “I learned that Bitcoin goes up and down — that is volatility.”

🗣️ “Nobody can cheat us of our money because of what we’ve been taught today.”

This is why grassroots Bitcoin education matters: students are building financial literacy and learning to see money differently. 🌍⚡

We keep building.

We successfully hosted our first pilot program for students: “Money, Saving & Bitcoin.”

From learning about saving, inflation, and the value of money to discovering Bitcoin as digital money for the future, the kids stayed fully engaged as the session was broken down for everyone’s understanding.

Through storytelling, interactive games, and relatable examples like Gala prices, WhatsApp messages, piggybanks, and more. Students discovered new practical financial literacy skills & knowledge.

This is not just a program — it’s a step towards preparing the next generation for a financially smarter future.

Financial Literacy for Students 🌍

This Wednesday, September 3rd, Bitcoin Africa Story will host a pilot program at His Touch School this summer — introducing participating students to the basics of money and Bitcoin as a digital innovation.

Why it Matters: ➣ Understanding how money works. ➣ Exploring digital innovations such as Bitcoin. ➣ Building financial literacy for informed choices.

This pilot program is the first step in expanding financial literacy programs to more schools.

And yes — it’s FREE 🚀 Because knowledge is the best investment students can make in themselves.

🚨Disclaimer: This program is for educational purposes only.
