but know that the force that has birthed the whole—call it order, call it providence, or call it Mother Nature—whatever it is, has also put in you all the necessary means to avoid being corrupt in heart; you are never without the choice to remain true.

because those things external to you in the world—even Her withdrawal, Her harshness, Her denial—cannot give you ruin unless you permit it so; such things are not the measure of your life.

fate is not without you; the force that shapes things does not abandon truth in chaos, but reveals it. so whether you grasp what compels Her ways and moods or not, within you is the power to keep your heart steady.

life and death, praise and shame, pain and pleasure, all these things come to both good men and bad alike. and none of these make the soul true or poorer in and of themselves; therefore they are not the standard of what you are—your integrity of devotion to Her is.
