📜⚡ TODAY IN BITCOIN HISTORY August 7, 2010
Bitcoin was barely a toddler.
BTC was trading around six cents. ₿
And Satoshi Nakamoto was on BitcoinTalk answering questions about what this strange little internet money could become. StatMuse
⚡ ENERGY
People were already arguing that Bitcoin mining wasted electricity.
Satoshi compared Bitcoin mining to gold mining and argued that the important question wasn’t whether energy was consumed.
It was whether the utility created was worth the energy used.
The conclusion:
“Therefore, not having Bitcoin would be the net waste.”

🔐 ESCROW
Only a few hours later, Satoshi started another thread explaining how Bitcoin could enable escrow without simply trusting someone to hold the money.
Buyer. Seller. Cryptography. Rules enforced by software.
They were already thinking beyond “digital coins” toward programmable transactions and ways to remove the financial incentive to cheat.

And here’s the part worth remembering:
Bitcoin wasn’t born finished.
People questioned it.
They found problems.
They argued.
They proposed solutions.
They tested assumptions.
They built.
That is the lesson.
Open-source systems get stronger when humans keep questioning them.
🧠 Don’t worship builders. 🔎 Study what they built. 🐛 Find the weaknesses. 🛠️ Fix what can be fixed. 📚 Remember what was learned.
August 7, 2010: Bitcoin ≈ $0.06.
Satoshi was discussing energy, incentives, escrow and trust.
Sixteen years later, we’re still arguing about the same damn things. 😂
