Friends: love it 🥰

Artemis II: NASA's SLS rocket arrives at the firing range for a historic return to the Moon.

The Artemis II mission is becoming clearer: NASA has just sent its powerful Space Launch System (SLS) rocket to the 39B launch pad of the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

After a journey of almost 12 hours on the crawler-transporter (the legendary caterpillar vehicle capable of carrying millions of kilos at about 1.6 km/h), the SLS + Orion capsule set is now positioned at Launch Complex 39B. This transfer, made on January 17-18, 2026, marks a crucial step towards the first manned flight of the Artemis program.

This is a major step: the giant rocket (with the Orion capsule on it) is now positioned for the final tests, including at least one dress rehearsal with full loading of cryogenic propels, simulation of the countdown and emptying.

If all these tests take place without a hitch, the first launch slot is set for February 6, 2026 (window opening from February 5-6 according to orbital and technical conditions).

Artemis II will then send four astronauts – Reid Wiseman (commander), Victor Glover (pilot), Christina Koch (mission specialist, NASA) and Jeremy Hansen (mission specialist, Canadian Space Agency) – for a historic lunar overflight. It will be the first time since Apollo 17 in December 1972 that humans will venture so far from Earth, during a journey of about 10 days without landing, but with a passage near the hidden side of the Moon.

This unprecedented mission will validate vital systems for future stages of the Artemis program, including the return of astronauts to the lunar surface with Artemis III.

We’re fine in 2525 but I haven’t looked from like now until then 😂😂😂

🪐 Dangerous Asteroids Near Earth — Summary & Analysis (Updated 2025-10-11)

================================================== ⚠️ WHAT MAKES AN ASTEROID "DANGEROUS"

A Near-Earth Asteroid (NEA) becomes "potentially hazardous" if it: • Passes within 0.05 AU (~7.5 million km) of Earth. • Is larger than ~140 meters in diameter. • Has uncertain orbits that could shift due to gravitational effects.

Even smaller objects can cause airbursts (like the 2013 Chelyabinsk event).

================================================== 🧮 SIZE AND IMPACT ANALYSIS

================================================== 🌍 CONTEXT — MOST ARE SAFE

NASA’s Sentry and ESA’s NEODyS systems constantly track over 30,000 NEAs. None of these listed are projected to hit Earth in the next century. Most of them make routine flybys — often within a few lunar distances, but safely.

================================================== 💡 INTERPRETING SIZE AND ENERGY

Impact energy roughly scales as: E = 1/2 × mass × velocity²

An asteroid: • 10 m across burns in the atmosphere.
• 50–100 m can devastate a city.
• 500 m–1 km affects continents.
• >1 km causes global climate impact.

================================================== 🛰️ PLANETARY DEFENSE PROGRAMS

• NASA’s Planetary Defense Coordination Office (PDCO) monitors these daily.
• NEOWISE and ATLAS telescopes scan the sky for new NEAs.
• DART Mission (2022) proved we can alter an asteroid’s orbit through kinetic impact.

================================================== 📜 TAKEAWAY

These asteroids are part of a living catalog — most pose no threat, but they remind us of Earth’s vulnerability and the need for continued space observation and defense funding.

Whoops 😬 maybe we don’t mess with someone who used to work for #NASA Cause I’ll use it 😂😂😂
