One person was killed and two were injured in a shooting at a Dallas Immigration Customs and Enforcement facility Wednesday morning, Homeland Security officials said. Dallas police responded at around 6:40 a.m. after a shooter opened fire on a government building from an adjacent building, according to Dallas Police Department spokesperson Jonathan Maner. The two injured were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, and the suspect is dead, Maner said. Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said on Fox News that the victims were “potentially detainees” and not #ICE officers, and that the attacker was shooting from an apartment building. No ICE officers were injured, the agency’s deputy director, Madison D. Sheahan, said on Fox News. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem had said on X that there are multiple fatalities and injuries, and that she did not yet know of a motive for the shooting. The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are on the scene, federal officials said.
