Today, 7 new mining companies joined the Stratum V2 working group.

The Working Group is a technical coordination forum focused on advancing adoption through specification alignment, interoperability testing, and real-world implementation feedback.

Many of the participating companies are already working on Stratum V2 integrations.

Importantly, this is not mining activity coordination. It is coordination of the technical standard so miners, pools, manufacturers, and software developers can build on a common, open protocol.

Finally hopped on a pod after a while, with one and only

to discuss Open Source funding, and why companies should look at it as a strategic move and not philanthropy.

Got tired of this narrative that funding open-source is philanthropy.

There's that angle but it's dumb and likely harmful.

More independent, economically rational sources of support, and more participants acting in their own self interest fixes it.

Running Stratum V2

One of the hardest parts of FOSS is understanding users and communicating technical jargon clearly.

In mining, that’s harder than usual: there’s a big knowledge, language and cultural gap. On top of that, miners are busy ensuring uptime and chasing cheap energy, not reading protocol jargon.

We did our best to close that gap with the new StratumV2 website update.

I hope it makes the case that software upgrades can meaningfully improve mining operations, and explains how on a single page.

If we missed the mark, throw tomatoes and tell us what to improve!

SRI launched major version with tons of improvements and native Bitcoin Core v30 support

DMND POOL opened the first ever SV2 Pool with miner selected templates to the public.

Probably nothing.

Would love feedback from devs and anyone comfortable with CLI. Anything unclear? What sucks, what can be better? https://blossom.primal.net/9aeb347f387b461a7bbf816a99ea5f5f8dbc9a01a915f973c028f411eee9bf65.mov

Today, we released a new version of SV2 Reference Implementation (SRI).

Starting today miners no longer need a custom BTC Core fork to build block templates with SV2. The bitcoin_core_sv2 crate is integrated into JDC and Pool, enabling direct communication with Bitcoin Core v30. This improves the UX and keeps SRI implementation-agnostic going forward.

With this release, we’re rolling out Docker support for SV2 Apps, making cross-platform deployments easier and shipping binaries for all major platforms. This is the first step toward a smoother UX. In the next release, we plan to ship UI for our miner-side apps: JDC and tProxy.

We’ve split the project into two repositories: /stratum containing low-level protocol crates and /Sv2-Apps for end-user applications. This makes the ecosystem easier to understand, contribute, and build on.

Want to test all the new improvements yourself?

Use our Web Deployment Wizard to spin up the full SV2 stack (Including your own pool) and share your feedback with the community.

I urge FOSS maintainers and entities giving grants to do better due diligence when onboarding brand new devs and giving grants. People are faking GitHub activity, portfolios, and entire projects. It's still easy to spot if you take the time instead of just throwing money.

FOSS is easier target than a company, because in a desperation to have contributors, barriers of entry are lower, but it has long-term consequences to the project, so be aware!

Why Stratum V2?
