Halved the 7 day sync time for
's contacts and the 30 day outbox sync is down to about 1 minute
I should mention this is just measuring the syncing and downloading of events from the relays and not fetching the contacts outboxes, that takes about 5-8 seconds or so. This also limits the max relays to 30 so not all users outboxes are being connected to, only the most common ones that provide the most coverage. increasing this to 80 seems to find more events and doesn't take much longer but probably uses a lot more bandwidth.

#asknostr anyone have a few links to some of the old hell threads? I need to test loading performance in Applesauce.

? I found an annoying issue in https://live.letsfo.com/
I would do more but my clanker cant find the source code.

NIP-45 defines the COUNT request as a request... not a subscription and therefor does not need a followup CLOSE message. I hope most relays implement it this way otherwise they are about to feel a lot of pain from my new feature in applesauce :)
Not requiring a CLOSE message is a good thing though since it reduces the messages over the wire by 50%

The outbox model works, and it works really well. More sync tests from the upcoming version of applesauce, first one tries to connect to all my contacts relays ( 165 ) and gets ~1900 events in 34s. the second connects to the 30 most common and gets ~1700 events in 18s. Both syncs are for loading all events your contacts have posted in the last 24 hours, so plenty of content for a normal nostr client. ( it also helps that nostr is slowing down so there is less content to load ) https://cdn.hzrd149.com/18acf371ca865ceb076e68641a01038a8a76319bcd3fde9eca67e0cb34e6dbc2.png https://cdn.hzrd149.com/f3283e5e5620dc963274f8f1d2a7bde9f6a6c773d7ba9eeaf2b0251b6543ee4d.png

Timeline scrubbing example built to stress test and demonstrate the capabilities of the timeline loading in #applesauce https://cdn.hzrd149.com/837e73cfaea2ca8a9c3e293b92f0002d2b6538b5afaf9b2a36a9004a79701d35.png
Running that 30 day test a few more times, NIP-77 relays seem to be able to return events 4x faster than other relays. obviously lots of variables here but I suspect this sync would be even faster if more relays supported NIP-77

24 hour, 7 day, and 30 day outbox sync run on
contacts using applesauce while the outbox model is recalculating relay selection live based on relay failure. the sync is considered complete when less than 2 events over 5 seconds are received.

If you cant tell NIP-77 really helps with this.

First time running GPT 6 on applesauce to build more examples and now its building perfect RxJS reactive code in one-shot... this is insane. Full @ mention thread viewer built using NIP-77 sync in 800 lines of code and all reactive ( loads from NIP-65 relays )

GM. Someone should build a little HTTP server that sits in front of your LNURL and watches for nostr apps requesting LN invoices for zaps. then keeps track if those invoices where paid by watching for zap receipts.
Would be interesting to see the conversion rate between clicking the zap button and actually paying the LN invoice

GM, binary file formats are incompatible with the agent future. text based files are going to be the only formats that survive. Long live JSON

GM, Some of the stuff we built here still blows my mind. Scrolling my feed during my morning coffee and I see
has updated the ngit docs. Click run and I can immediately preview it :D

I can't agree with this strongly enough. I've seen so many people burning so much of thier time on new side projects they will clearly never finish. Meanwhile if they spent an hour of thier time on fixing one of thier old project or fixing someone's else's project they would make a lot bigger impact.

I have an agent setup using https://near.ai for its provider and I've been trying to buy credits from them for a few days now. I managed to swap BTC into their native token an pay for some credits, however buy more credits is an incredibly convoluted system. I've been using my agent to try and understand the process and even the agent is getting confused. they have native NEAR tokens on their own blockchain, then they also have wNEAR tokens on their own chain, pegged 1:1, then you can also deposit BTC and use that to swap to any other token. oh an finally the payment processor they use wont make it clear what token ( wrapped or native ) they expect you to pay in...
I still generally think bitcoin and lighting UX is bad. but this is a whole other level of hostile UX
They also have a credit card and signin with google option, which I'm sure works flawlessly...
There is no clear justification for that war, and no serious attempt has been made to provide one.
having their address added to the PAK list and then operating it as an automated hotwallet
None of the demanding accountability, or acknowledgement of blame, I see flying around anywhere is rooted in anything except your emotional immaturity and pre-existing grudges
but you can see the gradual regression towards insanity from the notes that it produced.
can you make the payment even harder to use please? thanks - a normal user
I love the service, but I think at this point you should throw away your current web UI and let claude build a new one.

in the cyberworld, brief lapses can be catastrophic and the consequences can be even worse than merely exposing confidential information.
NIP-42 isn't a privacy feature, it's a way for a relay to gate access to your data. if your app isn't careful and authenticates to all relays it doxes your IP address.

nobody has taken over that role because nobody really cared enough
It likely would have needed a champion who is willing to push for this change, talk to people, explain it to everyone, and actually care
