When #AI started replacing entry-level jobs, the corporate world wasn't bothered. "Technology is supposed to automate repetitive tasks".
When AI started replacing customer services, they weren't bothered either. "They have more context than a single human can ever have, if they can sound human enough to a true human then nobody will mind"
When AI started replacing creative jobs, they weren't bothered either. "If patterns in music or visual arts are so predictable that a machine can easily learn them and reproduce them, then artists are redundant and art becomes just a service on-demand"
When AI started replacing engineers, they weren't bothered either. "Engineering costs are too high, and if an agent can do the job of a whole team without sleeping and without taking leaves then we should embrace the most optimal solution"
When AI started replacing mathematicians, they weren't bothered either. "If a pool of agents can solve in two days problems that humanity couldn't solve for two centuries, then we must just embrace the most optimal path towards knowledge"
Now that AI is starting to replace traditional software companies, and normal people are using AI to reverse engineer and vibe code Rust alternatives to commercial software like Adobe's and Microsoft's, suddenly those companies start to notice.
"Sue the vibe coder! Sue the agent! Sue the company that built the agent! Sue everyone! Respect intellectual property! Stop AI! It poses a threat to humanity!"

#GazaVerified campaigns tracker status
Most of the campaigns at https://gaza.onl/campaigns/accounts are unfortunately stuck at $0.
This is because of two distinct issues:
Chuffed: they have become more aggressive at allowing requests only from real browsers. For a while I could get around their limitations by using a pool of proxies for the scrapers' requests. Now they are simply issuing JS Cloudflare challenges to clients to prevent scraping. This is unfortunately quite tricky for me to solve without adding invasive solutions like FlareSolverr to resolve the Cloudflare challenges (and even in that case mileage may vary a lot). If anyone has contacts at Chuffed, the best thing to do is to forward them to me. I can explain what we're doing and why we need to do that, and hopefully they can whitelist the archive's IP.
GoFundMe: at least since today short-format GoFundMe URLs (https://gofund.me/{id}) are mostly broken - the gofund.me Web server is either timing out or returning HTTP 502. I have implemented a workaround on the archive (namely, it caches the resolved full URLs from GoFundMe so we won't have to hit that brittle URL-shortener again), but it will only work once gofund.me is operational again and the archive can start caching resolved URLs on the db.
Until these issues are fixed (and they're both addressed upstream, rather than with more hacks from my side), I'm afraid that most of the campaigns will remain at $0.

The boy in this picture is Lorenzo. He's a student at liceo Marconi, in Parma.
During the Teha Group festival in his city, #Leonardo, Italy's notorious military giant, was described as an example of industrial excellence and vision for the future.
Lorenzo asked a question that everyone should have asked.
Why a company that made billions by supplying weapons to the unnamed Zionist entity so it could perpetrate a genocide in #Gaza is supposed to be praised as an example of industrial excellence.
Why the industrial vision for the future must rely on military conglomerates that make billions thanks to genocides, while many startups founded by brilliant young people have to starve for funding.
Why teenagers like him are part of classes of 30 students forced to study in rooms designed for 15 students, and why Italians are supposed to silently accept continuous cuts to education and healthcare, in order to see their taxes diverted to genocide-makers depicted as industrial excellence.
The worst thing is that behind the "new military Renaissance" doctrine there are mostly people in their 70s and 80s.
A gerontocracy made of late-capitalist psychopaths who don't care about the future of their own grandsons, because they won't be alive when that future happens.
Why doesn't this intergenerational mass theft cause massive social unrest that leads to a true political revolution?

In today's session of #IMadeAThing: #Songhive
This is a project that has taken me quite some work in the past months and it's finally ready to be announced.
Imagine a fully federated (compatible with #ActivityPub and #Webmentions) social network built on top of your music collection.
Not something like #Funkwhale, which only allows individual tracks, albums or playlists to be federated, but a real social network where you have a real profile that can comment, like, boost and quote tracks and anything and follow anyone on any server.
Besides that:
paid mode for registration_mode. Admin can set how much they want to charge their users to upload content on their server and how often (weekly, monthly, yearly...)Links:

"Of course it's a #genocide. We would shoot at anyone, children and women too".
"Even if they didn't pose any danger?"
"Of course, none of them had any weapons! I think I saw an armed Palestinian only once, but we used to kill hundreds of them every day"
"We were fine. We were happy. It was fun. It was like a videogame"
"What do you mean? Killing was fun? Including children? Even if they weren't armed? Whole families?"
"There was a psychologist. We could talk to him if we needed. But we didn't need it because we were fine"
"Mine is an elite unity. We would identify the buildings to blow up while families were still in. We destroyed whole neighbourhoods. We destroyed the whole north of the Gaza strip because there should have been no houses to get back to. We set on fire memories, pictures, books, everything. We would fill up houses with gas and set them on fire, or we would gather all the pillows in the middle of the living room and set them on fire. Wool burns very well. In a minute the whole apartment was on fire. Mine was a unit made of left-wing youngsters. From Tel Aviv's higher classes. We don't hate the Arabs. We did it because it had to be done".
"The settlers, the crazy ones, those who believe in a crooked God and do strange things like not bathing or reproduce like rabbits: those perhaps hate the Arabs. But we progressive left-wing youngsters aren't like that: we only did what we were told to do and then we'd smoke a cigarette or come back to have an aperitif together"
"I asked my supervisor: 'What do you think of what we're doing here?' He told me: 'It's right. You must just trust the system'"
"We only do what the Israeli society tells us to do. If they tell us that Gaza must be wiped out, then we must wipe it out"
"I went to Poland to visit concentration camps. I keep believing that Nazis were Nazis. But I don't know what I am"

It's no longer a fun party when you keep inviting murderers to it.
The #Netherlands will boycott #Eurovision for the second year in a row.
Earlier this month, organisers announced they were excluding any country involved in an armed conflict from hosting the competition.
With the exception, of course, of #Israel.
Since repeatedly inviting baby killers from a terrorist political entity is the perfect way to ruin a party, the Netherlands will no longer join the party.

The recent words of #AOC calling "a crazy phase" the #woke movement embraced by the progressive left in the past few years triggered a deep reflection in me.
The "woke" term that many in the past years came to associate with academic progressive elites wasn't actually born in academic campuses, nor on TikTok.
It was already used in the first half of the 20th century by the Afro-American communities, as an invite to stay aware, avoid being cheated, and in particular it meant being aware of all the forms that systemic racism keeps manifesting in a society built on racist premises.
In the aftermath of phenomena like BLM, #MeToo and other social revolutions, the term expanded to include awareness about all forms of systemic discrimination against all minorities or disadvantaged classes.
It started entering the academic debate and dig on all the old rotten roots that caused many forms of systemic discrimination - colonialism, sexism, social privilege, power relationships, exploitation, and so on.
But it's around this time that the "woke" term started to morph.
From "keep your eyes open" it became to embrace an entire ideology that developed around it.
It became a badge to wear, a hashtag to share.
The corporate world reacted the only way it can react when a new social phenomenon emerges - by creating a new marketing segment.
It didn't really address the structural issues and barriers that eventually manifest as inequalities or discriminations.
It just created "woke capitalism" as a response to increased demand about symbols and slogans that could be easily associated to specific ideological traits.
The focus gradually shifted from "don't discriminate against your employees" to blurring the lines between political views and marketing campaigns.
From shooting movies or series that didn't deliberately exclude a category of people, to obsessing with "inclusive casts" at all costs.
From supporting the right for LGBTQ+ people to live their lives without facing discrimination, to organizing parades of corporate logos painted in rainbow colors for the pride month.
From actively fighting discrimination in all the forms it manifests, to creating a narrative where systemic discrimination can be entirely addressed through a continuous process of language polishing and policing.
The huge influence of the "woke movement" has come from acknowledging the Gramscian dimension required for societal change: culture in most of the cases changes before laws change.
If you change what the society sees as "normal", you change the society.
And of course when that happens there will always be conservative voices who oppose change - that's what conservatives are for anyway.
It was important for this battle to percolate from the Afro-American minorities into academic debate, and from there to be absorbed by the new generations of writers, movie producers, museum curators, marketing experts, teachers and managers.
Eventually, people start to see issues that they didn't see before. Even a Millennial consuming some material produced in the 1990s or early 2000s may start to find it awkwardly sexist or racist compared to how they perceived it when they were younger.
But, as if often happens in such cases, the cultural revolution is wrapped into a shiny paper of corporate marketing.
Punk wearables with leather and spikes, far from being forms of protest against capitalism and globalization, soon become commodities that can be imported from China through big ships, ready to be purchased by teenagers who want to feel rebel and different from others.
Che Guevara pins and T-shirts fabricated through exploited labor soon become cult items for a generation of young communists.
Similarly, pins with raised fists, BLM slogans or rainbow logos soon become basic commodities.
And, when a cultural revolution matures, it always brings the risk of turning ideological sensitivity into orthodoxy.
The risk of supporting an academic interpretation over another. Of focusing too much on language and too little on actions and a continuous process of analysis and adaptation to a changing reality. Of favoring a fight over another one, even if their ideological motivations are similar. Of interpreting all forms of dissent as heresies that are just as evil as the original evil that we all fought together.
The "call out culture" and the "cancel culture" start to take over.
Just like heretic movements were fiercely called out in the early age of Christian consolidation through the Roman Empire.
Just like the Period of Terror was the natural continuation of the French revolution - a historical moment when the initial civic fights were won and new relationships of power came to form around the new ideological framework, necessitating a new orthodoxy and a new cycle of purges.
Just like ideological orthodoxy and loyalty to the party took over when Leninism turned into an authoritarian regime.
The symbolic exile from the ideological community becomes a form of shame that ensures the survival for the orthodox ideology that we all fought for.
The woke movement itself at some point engaged with similar forms of speech suppression.
In particular, with the idea that if a person says the wrong word, supports a cause that diverges from the one we support, or they put in discussion an ideological premise that should be taken as granted, the issue is no longer with what they said, but with their legitimacy to speak.
When you no longer distinguish between the individual who happened to say something stupid, the individual who said something offensive, and the individual who actively incites hatred and discrimination, you end up establishing a permanent tribunal for linguistic polishing that shifts the focus away from any ongoing issues that your orthodox framework may miss.
If you call everyone a fascist, even your friend who embraces the same battles and ideological sensitivity as you, but who happens to have a different idea on a particular point embraced by your orthodoxy, then you end up forgetting that the real fascist you should beat up is somewhere else.
Progressive voters themselves at some point have realized that you can't build a political program that always speaks of culture and language and never about purchasing power.
They have realized that, even though many ideological foundations have been shaken in the past years, the economic and political framework that caused many of those structural inequalities and discriminations is still pretty much intact.
They have realized that the battles for affordable housing, for fair access to education, for fair access to the job market, for fair working conditions, for unions, or for the right to build a family, are no longer intrinsic to ethnic, gender, linguistic or religious groups previously identified as treated unfairly, but they are shared across entire generations - and that's where the focus should go.
It's an eternal cycle where "woke progressivism" is not actually being replaced by conservatism, but by a more "materialist progressism".
In the struggle between Marxist and Gramscian approaches to societal change, both the materialist and the ideological camp won.
The "woke" didn't lose. It became part of the ideological framework used by new Western generations to analyze society. Just like a push towards democratically organized societies became part of the ideological framework embraced by the young generations after the French revolution.
No matter how much Trump, Farage or Orban bark at it.
They're part of an old generation of conservatives that is doomed to be dragged throughout history against their will anyway. They're the voice of the old world that refuses to die.
The "woke failure" doesn't mean that we're back at 2010. Movies won't change, books won't change, diversity and inclusion programs in the workforce won't change, and younger generations will keep demanding to be included more.
But the original woke movement proved that ideological change quickly fizzles out when too many people don't see it reflect in societal change and actual lasting reforms that address the root causes of the issues.
The woke didn't die - it simply needs to evolve.
Awareness about systemic forms of discrimination continues, as well as the struggle to ensure that every person is given the same fair and equal opportunities for success in life. Regardless of the discriminated group, regardless of the root cause of the discrimination, and avoiding falling into orthodoxy or complacency.
"Israel should not be satisfied with killing just those in #Gaza who endanger us in that moment or pose an immediate threat. There are people there who aren't worthy of life; they shouldn't be alive; they aren't people at all"

Who would have expected that #ChatGPT at some point would have added ads to their product?
Who would have expected them to follow the profitability textbook applied by all tech companies - penetrate the market, lock in both users and businesses, and eventually start shoveling crap down the throats of both the groups?
And who would ever expect the next step to be sponsored content prioritized straight inside the bot's responses, for everyone, with no opt-out, so relevance is sacrificed in the name of profitability, just like it happened to commercial search engines?
The creed and ideological dogmas of #Zionism have become indistinguishable from those of fascism.
Zionist hate no longer targets only Muslims or obvious antisemitic targets, but also Jews themselves blamed of not being "Jewish enough" to support an uncompromisingly supportive stance towards the genocidal Zionist entity.
The trend of labelling liberal or left-wing Jewish as "not real Jews" is an act of pure fascist ideological hate - socialists in Italy were also described as "unpatriotic Italians" during Mussolini's regime.
Holocaust trauma is also doubted when Holocaust survivors don't openly support violence against Palestinians. If you were looking for Holocaust denial, look no further than the Zionist camp.
Zionists and fascists also started leveraging the exact same anti-Muslim rhetoric, describing Muslims as backwards rapists who come to the West to get white women pregnant.
They also share the same disdain as fascists towards any act of humanity towards anyone who doesn't look, think and talk like them, calling it "suicidal empathy".
Just like fascists, Zionists also started employing the same "great replacement" narrative, and started claiming that the only alternative to their abhorrent ideology is the destruction of the nation-state, the destruction of strong borders, of private property, gender boundaries and individual liberties.
Always remember that when an abhorrent ideology frames everything as a choice between them and the destruction of everything you know, you are witnessing fascism unfold in front of your eyes.
You are being forced to swallow something awful because the alternative would be even more awful.
The whole democratic process goes out of the window, and you're only given a choice between societal collapse and patriotic saviours of the nation-state.
Next time a Zionist tells you that #Israel must exist exactly in that corner of the world as a bulwark of Western democracy, remind them that the Zionist movement has turned into the exact antithesis of everything that Western liberal democratic values were supposed to mean - and that nobody ever asked for a corner of Western democracy outside of the West, because our model of democracy is not supposed to be a good to be exported through violence, apartheid, genocide and displacement.
Remind them that they talk like fascists, walk like fascists and hang out with fascists, and many of us raised with the values of antifascist resistence instinctively pick up the rifles as soon as we see a fascist in front of us.
If Israel wants to become an illiberal fascist regime in that corner of the world, we'll keep stating loudly that it has no right to exist.
There's an uncomfortable tension between my employer supporting human rights through the Pride parade, to the point of being the top sponsor of it, while staunchly refusing to stop doing business with the illegal genocidal settlers in the West Bank.
Perhaps doing the right thing in the West Bank doesn't come with the same branding visibility as putting your logo everywhere on the Pride parade.
Perhaps supporting LGBTQIA+ minorities in a liberal place like Amsterdam isn't as controversial as rejecting doing business with the Zionazi settlers, thus enraging Israeli investors.
This must stop now. Each single day that West Bank properties on stolen land are available on our website is another day of shame that we won't recover from.
Pressure on my employer must increase, and I will also support boycott acts.
A company that truly supports the oppressed and wants to lower entry barriers does so every day and in every occasion.

#Italy has a long-standing issue with private ownership of beaches.
In some locations, up to 80-90% of the beaches are privately owned.
If you want to go to the seaside, you pay a fee to the owner of the facility ("lido") and then you can access the beach.
When the phenomenon started, the Italian State used to assign licenses to develop seaside facilities to private owners, who were in turn allowed to charge people for the access to the sea in order to fund further development.
Slowly, the lack of regulation and the lobbying from a newly born wealthy class caused the situation to escalate.
Licenses turned into de facto lifetime concessions.
They could be sold by the owner to someone else, like a regular real estate asset, as if the owner had actually originally paid someone to own a public beach.
Predicably, "lido" owners soon started creating their own cartels and synchronized price hikes.
Lobbying slowly caused a large share of the Italian beaches to become private, with unaccountable owners who could extract as much revenue as they liked from anyone who just wanted to enjoy the sea on a warm day.
The issue is well-known and the national government has been trying to address it for years, failing every time because the interests of a tiny lobby (with some of them who also became MPs or government members in the meantime) apparently can win over the interests of millions.
Josi Della Ragione, the young mayor of #Bacoli, a seaside village near Naples where access to nearly 90% of the beaches is behind a fee, has taken the battle on a personal level, and soon most beach owners in the locality may see their licenses revoked and most of the beach become public again.
The clash between the mayor and the private owners has also highlighted the selfishness and detachment from the world of any class of "new riches".
Infamously, the owner of one of the largest "lido" remarked that the mayor "loves penniless people". Something that you could have imagined Marie Antoinette say before her head was chopped off.
As if the right for locals to access a public beach was to be awarded only to wealthy individuals happy to part with their money whenever they want to take their children to the sea, and everyone else could either go to overcrowded tiny beaches with free access, or stay at home.
Beaches, parks, water, railways, the IT infrastructure itself, are all crucial components of a healthy State, funded by taxpayers, and fair access to them should hence be granted to all of its citizens without barriers.
Private leasing can be temporarily granted through time-bound licenses, with clear expectations about how the beneficiary can enhance the public resource for the public good in a way that taxpayers alone can't do.
But those must be leasing licenses - not ownership licenses.
Their time and scope must be limited - at no point those licenses should result in most of the resources being privately owned and in new permanent access barriers being created for the majority of the citizens, who should not be asked to pay twice for the same thing.
And those licenses cannot be extended nor sold, for the same reason why sub-leasing publicly awarded licenses is usually illegal.
Without these constraints, capitalism always predictably degenerates towards the establishment of new unaccountable oligarchies.
Without these constraints, new unaccountable wealthy classes increasingly detached from reality will keep popping up.
Disrupting fascists with bad music.
Using noise to suppress noise.

The biggest issue with the current trend towards tech mass surveillance is that it doesn't necessarily have to be codified into law for it to be effective.
Even if the UK doesn't manage to pass a law that bans VPNs, even if Chat Control doesn't pass, even if the EU puts stringent regulation around user data collection, mass surveillance can still de facto be implemented above the law.
Sure, VPNs may not be illegal. But what if my website has a daily updated database of known VPN servers offered by the major providers (it's just a few thousands of servers, after all), and I prevent you from accessing it unless you turn off your VPN or Tor?
And what if many websites start sharing that approach?
And what if connections from IPs on those lists started being classified in Cloudflare's highest risk category, so you have to solve 5 CAPTCHAs to find cars and bikes before you can access the content?
Sure, the law may not require you to have a genuine Android or iOS device in order to verify your identity. But what if, when you access a website, Cloudflare puts under your nose a CAPTCHA with a QR code to be scanned from your mobile device, creating a link between you as a person and your visit to that website?
Sure, the EU may impose heavy fines over Google for its abuse of dominant position and unrestricted access to people's information. But what's the point when most of the apps start anyway using the new Google Integrity API to verify user access, and when the EU itself considers using that API for identity verification on its side?
Sure, Chat Control may not pass. But what if Facebook simply silently removes E2EE from its chat services, ending up with people's conversations stored overnight in clear text, ready to be handed out to the best buyer?
The tech industry has reached such a level of power concentration that laws don't matter anymore.
All it takes is Cloudflare to add a new challenge to their CAPTCHA, or Google to add a new control to their Integrity APIs, and thousands if not millions of websites and apps become suddenly inaccessible to those who want privacy.
Those tech companies and the decisions they take during their closed-doors meetings have become the law.

All the inhabitants of Deir al-Balah, a territory where about 350k people live, have received last-minute orders to evacuate while the IDF operates strikes over the whole territory.
Can you imagine a city almost a big as Tallinn being evacuated within a couple of hours, before a hostile army starts dropping bombs everywhere?

A T-shirt that says that dropping bombs on children is wrong is only stating the obvious.
If someone is so offended by it that it treats it as a piece of terrorist propaganda, then it's the individual who finds such statement offensive the one that should be removed - not only from a flight, but from civilized society as a whole.
This is the level of normalization of genocide the West has reached because of decades of aggressive Zionazi propaganda.

Built-in features on Meta's smart glasses are being put behind a paywall.
You'll now have to pay a $20/month subscription for features like conversation focus that were so far available out of the box.
Who would ever think that #Meta would provide features for free initially to gain market share, and put them behind a paywall once users were locked in?
And what kind of diabolical mind would think of beaming a paywall straight to your retina through a pair of smart glasses?
If there's a way to enshittify it, rest assured that they'll enshittify it.
Serj Tankian, lead singer of System of a Down, is furious at #Israel for using genocide recognition as a political weapon.
Israel has recently decided to recognize the 1915 Armenian genocide.
The very genocide that a few years later gave Hitler the idea that he could do the same against the Jews.
All of Serj's grandparents were genocide survivors. He was born in Beirut from refugee parents.
Yet, the criminal organization known as AIPAC has spent years lobbying US Congress not to recognize the Armenian genocide.
Because the methods used by the former Ottoman empire (ruthless violence against civilians, reckless destruction of property and land, arbitrary displacements that turned people into nomads, and obsessive focus on curbing the population and expelling it from its native lands) are awfully similar to those used by Israel itself in Palestine and Lebanon.
Earlier, Israel feared that a recognition of the Armenian genocide would have also led to the recognition of the Palestinian genocide.
Hence the lobbying against its recognition - even if that benefited the arguments of a political rival like Turkey.
However, the Zionist entity has now plans to extend its permanent state of war and destruction in the Middle East also to Turkey.
Which means that all the means, including the recognition of a genocide perpetrated by Turkey more than 100 years ago, are valid, if their purpose is to apply ideological pressure on a rival that they want to soon start a war with.
It doesn't matter in Israel's eyes that what they are doing in Gaza is even worse than what was done against the Armenians.
The Zionist entity gave up on coherence and intellectual honesty long ago already.
They feel like they're entitled to condemn the Armenian genocide while committing their own.
But if you condemn their own genocides, which follow pretty much the same blueprint as the Armenian genocide, they feel entitled to call you an antisemitic.
The 250th anniversary of the #US Declaration of Independence has been celebrated in many American embassies too.
Except that these were not Congress-approved events.
As it often happens in the #Trump administration, they were organized by a private company called Freedom 250.
A few days before the event, the American ambassador to Belgium threatened a Belgian citizen after they urged the American band Zac Brown Band not to perform at the event.
Two journalists from the European Correspondent invited to the event in Brussels tried to question the US ambassador about his threat towards a EU citizen and about the funding of the event.
20 minutes later, they were escorted out by 8 police officers who confiscated their IDs and questioned them about the political leaning of their news outlet.
https://europeancorrespondent.com/en/r/the-us-ambassador-had-belgian-police-stop-our-reporting
For context, Bill White, the US ambassador to Belgium, has already sparked controversy for insulting Belgian politicians and threatening a socialist MP with a travel ban to the US.
The reason for the threat was an investigation into three Orthodox Jewish men practicing circumcision without a valid medical license, and White accused those behind the investigation of being antisemitic.
During the Nazi era, these were some of the countries that shut down their German embassies:
When fascism takes over, it is a duty to contain it, isolate it and prevent it from seeping as an exported good into the fabric of a democracy - even through embassies.
Bill White is an ambassador of a fascist regime and he abides to the same principles (threats, insults, intimidation, plutocracy) espoused by all fascist regimes.
Therefore, he is not welcome in Europe, and it's time for European countries to start considering shutting down their American embassies.

As expected, #EU #ChatControl is back on the table.
Despite being rejected a few times by the Parliament already, despite the unanimous legitimate concerns of many groups of experts called to express an opinion on the matter, Chat Control 1.0 is going to be resurrected by the EU Parliament president Metsola, despite the opposition of her own political group.
I guess that whoever is lobbying to enforce mass surveillance on EU citizens must be paying very well.

Differential privacy is a cornerstone of modern-day #statistics.
It allows the generation of datasets that are statistically relevant for a researcher, but that leak as little as possible about the individuals in the dataset.
It works on several principles:
From 1990 to 2010, the US Census Bureau primarily relied on swapping for the decennial census. Then, they realized that this technique was actually very unsafe, and that it was pretty easy to reconstruct individual records using the published statistics.
They eventually adopted the full differential privacy framework in 2020.
But some people apparently got annoyed with that. And the main culprit was noise addition.
Adding a normal random distribution to the data made the numbers noisy, and some people who rely on the US Census expecting its numbers to be fully accurate were very annoyed.
Who are these people?
Well, one category is that of demographers and social scientists. Still, their mathematical models can be adapted to take into account that they're dealing with noisy data - especially if the noise gain of distribution is published upfront.
But the most annoyed ones are thos who used the Census data to reconstruct actual records of individuals.
Yes, you read it well. There are people who use public datasets that are supposed to be coarse, and leverage probabilistic models to reconstruct information about individuals.
One big use case in America is, of course, #gerrymandering.
Those nonsense spiky borders can be much more accurate when the Census data allows you exactly to identify who lives where and what's their ethnicity, so you can dilute the voting powers of some ethnic groups much more efficiently.
Apparently those groups have lobbied the Federal government so much that they got it to release an order that states the following:
Any use of noise infusion is inconsistent with the Department's policies
This is a serious attempt of a political body to interfere through legislation into technical decisions that should be uniquely delegated to technical specialists - and the academic consensus is currently that of a full differential privacy framework.
Noise infusion is the most effective pillar in the differential privacy framework to prevent identification of individuals in public datasets.
Weakening it is likely to make everyone's #privacy worse, and benefit only very few and their interests.

I'm curious to know to which authorities Yoti, an "age verification" company, is supposed to report #GrapheneOS users, and on which grounds.
There's something so disturbingly wrong with the implied syllogism here.

How about this?

Migration to the UK is down 48% from last year and 82% from 2021.
Small boat arrivals and the asylum backlog are also down, while 70,000 people were returned or deported.
Yet, anti-immigration rhetoric has only intensified.
Liberals cannot win the immigration battle. By courting the xenophobic votes they harm their own nation, alienate their own voters, and play a pointless game to win the worst slice of the population - the despicable "I'm not racist but..." uncle who would anyway always be unhappy with anyone who doesn't look and think like him/her, and for sure would never vote for a progressive party anyway.
Labour delivered what the public wanted: a huge fall in net migration to 171,000 in 2025 from 331,000 in 2024 โ the lowest in over a decade. Yet online reactions show that parts of the public and the political class are so radicalised that no reduction will ever suffice.
Pipers like Farage, Salvini, Wilders or Trump will always run political agendas rooted in fear and prejudice, even if there was only a single migrant left in the country.
And, even if there was no migrant left, they'd just leverage new fracture lines (North vs South, urban vs rural, cis vs LGBTQ...).
Because, without creating a permanent sense of emergency that constantly turns natural differences in a society into collective irrational fears, their whole political careers would be irrelevant.

The psychological pressure over Russian citizens matters just as much as the war on the frontlines.
Russians must know that their country is at war, that their president is the only one responsible for that war, and that when you attack someone without reason the other party has all the right to strike back.
Russians should be annoyed with the man who caused that war, to the point of feeling the urge of replacing him.
They shouldn't go through a business-as-usual scenario while their president drops bombs on civilians.
The black clouds over St. Petersburg while the city prepares to host the International Economic Forum, and 20,000 international representatives are there, are a well deserved humiliation against a declining and decadent regime.
A couple of years ago the supporters of the Czar were very loud in repeating how Ukraine couldn't win this war, how it was supposed to accept whatever deal imposed by the Russian invader, and how powerful Russia's military apparatus was.
Fast forward a couple of years, and Russia has lost a whole generation of men to this stupid war (either through casualties or emigration), its logistical supply lines are permanently disrupted by the Ukrainian drones, and it's forced to use Soviet-era weapons, trucks and tanks after the Ukrainian drones have destroyed everything they built in this century.
Russia was stuck in a 20th century idea of conflict, with frontlines to push, heavy artillery and traditional aviation to do most of the job, and vulnerable supply lines that stretch over hundreds of km of railway and roads.
#Ukraine has drones. And they didn't need much else.
While Ukraine destroys military planes, oil depots and railways without killing anyone. Russia can only react by dropping bombs on civilians in Kyiv.
Because that's what bullies do when they feel trapped and outsmarted - they resort to gratuitous violence.
"You're fucking crazy".
It's hard to believe that someone like #Trump calls someone else "crazy". And yet these are the words he used for #Netanyahu, terrorist and convicted war criminal.
"Everybody hates you. Everyone hates #Israel because of you".
Again, these words came from the president of the US. An ironclad Zionist who is craving to profit from his future resorts on the beach in #Gaza.
But when we repeated for so long that everyone hates Israel because of its crimes against humanity and its impunity, we were bashed as the antisemitic ones.
"I'm the one keeping your ass out of jail".
Indeed, Netanyahu belongs to a jail.
Either at home, because of the endless trials for corruption that he's been trying to escape for years, or in The Hague, for his ICC arrest warrant for crimes against humanity.
Trump, another thug who should be in jail, openly admitted that he's the one keeping him out of jail.
Just like two thugs with their hands bathed in blood reminding each other to be grateful to the other.
The existence of Israel in its current genocidal and hyper-colonialist form is a disgrace for humanity as a whole.
The fact that Netanyahu is not in jail yet is a disgrace for everything that justice is supposed to be.
The fact that Netanyahu has so much leverage over the West that it can drag the most powerful country in the world in all of its colonialist wars is outrageous, and historians will spend years to understand how this happened.
There's only a problem with the latest call between Trump and Netanyahu.
That those words should have come from us, as Europeans.
We should have told both Trump and Netanyahu that they are two fucking crazy fascist thugs, that the world hates them, that the world hates the US and Israel because of them, and that they both belong to a jail.
The fact that no head of State in Europe so far had enough courage to make such obvious statements speaks a lot of how ideologically, politically and morally irrelevant we have become.

She needs extra blood transfusions to keep her blood levels out of the danger zone, and the treatment should restart as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, the costs for blood bags (and lab tests) in #Gaza are currently high, given the scarcity of medical supplies, and patients who endure critical physical injuries are usually prioritized.

Al-Baqa Cafรฉ was one of the last places where the people of #Gaza could escape and get some relief from the genocide inflicted upon them.
It was a popular gathering place on the beach that attracted many artists, journalists and creators.
In June 2025, it was obliterated by an unprovoked airstrike carried out by the Zionist entity, leaving only a crater on the beach behind.
At least 41 civilians died.
The IDF did not issue any warnings or evacuation orders before conducting the strike.
According to the Zionist entity, the target of the strike was Hasham Mansour, the son of a Hamas military commander who was killed months prior.
A 500-pound Mark 82 bomb was dropped on a crowded beach cafรฉ in order to allegedly target one single person.
The others civilians were just collateral damage. They just happened to be in the way and deserved to be killed without being worth of a single mention. Or, who knows, perhaps they were just human shields used by Hamas to protect one of its members.
For context, about 90 civilians were killed in the terrorist attack to the Bataclan in Paris in 2015.
For months the whole world was understandably horrified. We all changed our profile pictures on Facebook to commemorate that awful tragedy.
Yet nobody changed their profile pictures to commemorate the terrorist attack against Al-Baqa Cafรฉ.
Or perhaps something can be defined a terrorist attack only when carried out by fanatics with guns, not when the fanatics ride expensive warplanes loaded with bombs.
One year after the strike, our anonymous blogger from Gaza tries to break that silence and share their unique personal perspective on those events.

And why is he requesting an urgent meeting with the Dutch PM?
Would his boss allow a Dutch company to take over a critical piece of the American federal digital infrastructure?

The IHRA's definition of #antisemitism is being brought to court in the UK for being incompatible with the grounds of free speech in a modern democracy.
You are welcome to send a donation on CrowdJustice to cover the legal costs of this trial.
The IHRA definition is, by its own admission, a non-legally binding working definition.
You can't detain people nor limit their freedom of expression on the grounds of a non-legally binding working definition.
It was first published in 2005 by the European Monitoring Centre of Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC), a EU agency, but the EUMC's successor, the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), removed if from its website in 2013, as it's basically a non-official document with no legal validity.
It is a definition strongly pushed by the same Israeli far-right groups that are perpetrating a genocide in Gaza right now, and by all the Zionist think-tanks that keep casting their lobbying shadows over European and American political institutions.
It is a very problematic definition because, out of the 11 illustrative examples of antisemitism attached to it, 7 related to criticism of Israel as a country rather than prejudice against Jews.
It is so controversial that it split Jewish academics along partisan lines. Many Jewish lawyers and academics have proposed the Jerusalem Definition of Antisemitism (JDA) in response to the IHRA. They want to keep the definition of antisemitism focused on prejudice and hatred towards Jews, rather than towards an allegedly democratic political entity that, as such, should be called accountable for its actions.
Take this example of antisemitism reported in the IHRA:
Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
Notice how it squarely focuses on the right for Jews to have their own State, but deliberately omits any reference to self-determination for the indigenous Arab populations, and it omits the fact that expelling people out of their lands on the basis of their ethnicity is, objectively, a racist endeavor.
Or:
Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation
Notice how it characterizes an act of political criticism towards a democratic country, no matter if legitimate or not, as an act of antisemitism.
Assume that I criticize the Italian government, and that perhaps I have expectations about its actions that are higher than those I'd expect from another democratic country. Does it mean that I'm a racist anti-Italian? Are Jewish academics who criticize the political acts of Israel and call what's happening in Gaza a genocide also antisemitic?
Or:
Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
Notice how this prevents any objective historical comparison. If you establish an apartheid State and perpetrate a genocide like a Nazi, we can't say that it's something that a Nazi would do too - because that definition prevents you from saying that even when it's objectively true.
In general, the IHRA definition suppresses political dissent by placing the onus on Israel's critics to demonstrate they are not antisemitic.
Antony Lerman, the former director of the Institute for Jewish Policy Research, went as far as saying that "the case against IHRA is so strong that the fundamental principle is that IHRA is so flawed it should be abandoned".
The list of academics who openly criticized the IHRA definition is so long to deserve 5 pages on Wikipedia.
We can't even say that the IHRA definition is bad because it doesn't have sufficient academic consensus. It's so bad that the academic consensus over it is actually very strong. Most of the actual academic experts in the matter consider it a piece of pseudo-legal garbage.
Yet, such a controversial, polarizing and non-legally binding definition is the one that the politicians of most of the countries in the EU and the US, often without going through a process of Parliament ratification, have formally or informally adopted.
Some of its corollaries can also be found here on the Fediverse, in the form of memes that anonymous Hasbara accounts and propaganda pages like the Movement Against Antizionism keep posting.
Those memes and those acts of harassment have a very precise political purpose.
To lobby or pressure instance admins into applying the IHRA definition in their moderation activities, hence suppressing any speech that is critical of Israel and about the most uncompromising Zionist policies.
To create a sense of de facto validity around a non-legally binding definition that academics consider a piece of extremist propaganda garbage.
Those arrested in the UK because of their pro-Palestine activism were arrested on the basis of a non-legally binding definition with no academic nor political consensus.
It is time to ditch the IHRA and call it for what it is - a sophisticated act of nationalist propaganda that actually does more harms than good to the Jews because it misses the point on actual antisemitism, while fostering grudge towards an illiberal political entity that claims to speak in their name, while conflating political criticism and objective reporting with racism and prejudice.
It is time to call the IHRA something worth of the propaganda body of a fascist regime and not of a democratic country.
It is time to acknowledge that the IHRA definition is incompatible with America's First Amendment and with the Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and it poses unacceptable dangers to the tenure of our democratic fabric, all while providing a blanket excuse for a genocidal regime to pursue their colonial activities with impunity.
It is time to start taking this definition to courts, and make sure that there's no space for this garbage in a civilized society.

As a non-Christian, my deepest respect goes to the intellectual honesty of Pope Leo XIV.
The Catholic Church had an important role in enabling the transatlantic trade of slaves.
It interpreted an atrocious process of colonization and human exploitation as an act of Christian duty towards infidels that were supposed to embrace Jesus.
Pope Nicholas V in 1452 allowed Christians to invade, conquer, fight, subjugate and seize all possessions of all enemies of Christ, as well as granting them the permission to reduce them into a state of perpetual slavery.
The following Popes (Callixtus III in 1456, Sixtus IV in 1481 and Leo X in 1514) also granted similar rights to Spanish and Portuguese kings.
The acknowledgement of the Church's role in enabling slavery and colonialism is long overdue but still welcome.

A great step has been taken by the Dutch government: all trade with the territories illegally occupied by the Zionist entity is suspended.
The Netherlands openly acknowledges the human right violations perpetrated by the illegal Kahanist regime, and it will work together with other EU countries to enforce the ban and push for a ban on #EU level.
My employer may finally be forced to also stop providing properties from the West Bank on our website. Illegal occupiers shouldn't be allowed to profit from tourism on land that they stole.
It's disappointing that our managers didn't move an inch for so long, despite years of protests and boycott actions against us as well as internal discontent, and they will only change their stance now that the Dutch government is forcing them too. Booking lost a great chance to sit on the right side of history before others.
The world is finally waking up and is standing up horrified against the abuses perpetrated by the illegal Zionist entity.
#Israel is losing friends and it's losing them fast. Their gaslighting aggressive propaganda is expired.
We won't stop until all trade agreements with the Zionists are suspended, diplomatic relationships are permanently frozen, not a single weapon is allowed to be exchanged with them, airspace is closed to all of their flights, all Western countries declare them a threat to their national security, and Netanyahu ends up rotting in a jail for the rest of his miserable life.
They are a rogue State and a persistent threat against the stability of the world, and they must be treated as such.

Zionists who cry Fediblock when someone tells them "go back to babka" have the same sympathy as Nazis who cry Fediblock when someone tells them "go back to poa.st".
Ensuring that hate ideologies are unwelcome in any network of humans is what a civilized society is supposed to do.
Ensuring that those who proudly profess those ideologies are confined to their own Nazi bar is a civic duty.
The parallels with "go back to Poland" are nonsense.
Jews in the 20th century were marginalized because of who they were. That's prejudice. That's always wrong.
Those who espouse violent ideologies, on the other hand, must be marginalized for what they think, say and do. For what they choose to be - not for what they intrinsically are. Otherwise there's a lack of societal pressures to change for the better.
Telling a recidive murderer "go back to prison" isn't prejudice towards whatever ethnic or religious group that person belongs to. It's a way for society to preserve its safety boundaries.
Behave like civilized human beings who condemn crimes against humanity, and people will be kind to you.
Otherwise, go back to babka.

A fascist Jew on April 25, 2026 shot against people peacefully marching at the ANPI anti-fascist rally, feeling himself a warrior for Israel.
I never imagined that we would have to experience this shame, such a reversal of history.
We feel infinite sadness. In our imagination, it's understandable that in Milan right-wing ringleaders in power justify a squadristic beating, because tearing down a poster commemorating the horrific killing of Sergio Ramelli, on the very anniversary, would mean asking for it.
But the Jew who takes aim and shoots at anti-fascists is not acceptable.
Because we cherish the memory of the anti-fascist Jewish martyrs of the first hour, from Carlo and Nello Rosselli to Leone Ginzburg, from Emanuele Artom to Eugenio Curiel.
And of protagonists of the Liberation such as Leo Valiani, Vittorio Foa, Umberto Terracini, Enzo and Emilio Sereni (brothers divided over Zionism, but united against the black tide suffocating Italy).
And let us place in the right dimension, after them, the contribution โ welcome and to be honorable โ of the Jewish Brigade that landed in Puglia in March 1945.
Resurrected by the UCEI (the Union of Italian Jewish Communities) more than sixty years after those events, with the aim of fomenting Jewish separatism during the April 25th celebrations that showed solidarity with the Palestinians in the territories occupied by Israel.
The importation of the Middle Eastern war into the Italian public debate was a reckless choice; it rubbed salt into the wounds. It has spread a sense of encirclement within Jewish communities that not even the privileged relations with the right-wing government have been able to circumscribe.
It is in this context that we have long denouncing a squad-like degeneration of elements whoโin the name of supposed "self-defense"โ threaten and attack in schools and on the streets those they identify as enemies of Israel.
It is the ideology liberally spread by the Israeli Kahanist far-right: "alone against all," an "eternal anti-Semitism" that is supposedly independent of the crimes perpetrated by Israelโand therefore adopts it as a model of necessary brutality.
Irresponsible leaders have pushed these young people to fanaticism. And in the face of the numerous episodes of violence in which they were the protagonists in Rome, a blanket of silence has been laid - unfortunately, also by the police.
They felt welcomed within the communities, even though most Italian Jews reject their extremism, and treated with indulgence by those who should have been keeping watch.
We Jews, dissidents from community leaders who wanted to become uncritical spokespeople for Israel's wars, are also subjected to threats, not just verbal ones.
After the publication of our appeal "No to ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank", I was surprised to receive a warning from the Interior that, given the climate, I would need protection. I refused. After receiving so many threats from fascists and some members of the Northern League, imagine if I would let myself be intimidated by them.
I quote the WhatsApp message I received Tuesday night, a few hours before the arrest of Eitan Bondรฌ: "Gad, are they paying you or do you use drugs? Were there any Arabs in the Jewish Brigade? Are you over the moon? You're inciting hatred against Jews with historical revisionism. The Palestinians were allies of Hitler".
I'll avoid writing the name of the person who sent it to me, as he is as much aggressive as he is ignorant.
Two years before the Jewish Brigade was formed in 1944 in North Africa, the Palestine Regiment, which comprised Arabs and Jews from the British Mandate had fought in North Africa against the Nazi-Fascist armies.
History is more complicated than its manipulations. Thus, the fact that a Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was an anti-Semitic, pro-Nazi certainly cannot justify, in the face of a world outraged by the persecution they suffer, equating Palestinians with Nazis. Nor it justifies systematic ethnic cleansing almost a century later.
It's not surprising, unfortunately, that anti-Jewish hatred is regenerating and finding fuel in the ongoing fascistization of Israel.
Even the isolated, obscene cries of "failed soap" that defiled April 25th in Milan urgently require a soul-searching among those who have so far chosen to let only their identities dictate their political stances.
Feeling ashamed can be healthy, Carlo Ginzburg reminds us. Faced with the gunfire in Rome, we hope that many will open their eyes.
Grazie, Gad Lerner

A quick heads up related to the #GazaVerified campaigns dashboard and API: the scrapers for Chuffed are currently broken and they have not sent updates in the past two days (thanks
for the heads up).
The reason is that Chuffed has recently pushed a large update where it both changed the campaigns page layout (hence the previous regexes to scrape the campaign ID no longer work), and it has replaced the previous ID format (integer-based) with a new one (UUID-based).
Unfortunately this is not a very trivial change, as it requires me to both change the scraper and reindex all the Chuffed campaigns on the database with the new IDs.
I should however be able to push a fix by tonight or tomorrow the latest.
Until then, Chuffed campaigns unfortunately will not report updates.

Thanks to the brave journalists from L'Espresso for publishing this picture.
What you see pictured is an Israeli settler armed with an automatic rifle mocking an unarmed Palestinian woman, as he settles her land and eradicates her family's olive trees.
This picture is so powerful that the Israeli ambassador immediately accused L'Espresso for publishing an AI fake.
When it turned out that it was authentic, he switched his line of attack to the much more predictable (and easy to neutralize) "it's antisemitic".
Pictures like these are worth a thousand words.
They are the embodiment of the banality of evil that permeates every single cell of the illegal Zionist entity.
We should all stop calling it "war". The word "war" involves a clash between armies. The one between Ukraine and Russia is a war.
This is not a war.
This is just barbaric eviction and genocide against unarmed civilians.
Show this picture to your digital Zionist neighbour next time he says that you're the one full of hate.

Bending Spoons is an often overlooked Italian tech giant that has proven again and again to have a very effective business model.
WeTransfer, Evernote, Meetup, now Vimeo, soon AOL: all these products have been acquired by Bending Spoons, most often through all-cash offers.
The articles that talk of Bending Spoons often describe its successful business model. How it can effectively identify products that are declining or stagnating, acquire them, reshape them inside out, push them through their very well oiled machinery and business templates (pricing model, UI templates, generic backends, marketing strategies, mobile app development...) and give them a second life.
What is often overlooked is however the most common word that occurs in all the articles that talk of Bending Spoons: LAYOFFS.
If your company is acquired by Bending Spoons there's a high chance that you'll lose your job.
Thats what hides behind terms like "greater efficiency", "greater profitability" and "streamedlined processes".

The day that #Hungary may finally get rid of #Orban is finally here.
It's not that the alternative is that palatable, but even a slice of bread with manure spread is more palatable than Orbรกn.
Of course Orbรกn is already blaming Soros, the EU, the media, international institutions, "foreign interference" and Mickey Mouse for his upcoming loss.
That's what all fascists do. That's what Trump and Bolsonaro did too. A fascist will never accept defeat through democratic means.
Proud of being part of what Orbรกn considers the "woke elites" that want his illiberal regime gone - for a better Hungary and for a better EU.
Hadeel's campaign manager has run away with the money.
This family in #Gaza is now urgently looking for a new (hopefully more reliable) campaign manager.

๐ซด Collective fundraiser request
is part of our big #GazaVerified family, and she has been documenting for months through her beautiful words the events occurring in #Gaza. Her blog
has touched many hearts and provided a uniquely human perspective on this war as it unfolded.
Following the success of the collective fundraiser model for other verified accounts from Gaza, we would like to experiment this model also with Aseel.
โก How it works
Collective fundraisers are a more sustainable and dignified way of supporting our Palestinian friends.
Rather than competing for donations on a daily or weekly basis, we are trying to form more stable support networks that can guarantee our friends a more stable income (call it UBI if you wish) as they try to rebuild their lives shattered by the Zionist genocide.
Volunteers can commit to support one or more families by transferring fixed funds on a monthly basis. Anyone who wants to join can either:
You can commit to donate any monthly amount you wish, but if you join please commit to transfer that amont regularly, as Aseel's family will rely on your commitment.
If at any point you wish to drop out of the donors pool please let me know with reasonable notice so I can find other volunteers.
๐ฏ Monthly goal
Aseel's goal is to raise $690
This will mainly cover the medical costs for her father - which include medications, vitamins, routine kidney and blood sugar tests, regular X-rays and ultrasound and access to bottled water.
Note that the fundraiser's main goal is to cover these medical costs. Aseel will keep running her Chuffed campaign and accept one-off donations there for all the other needs of her family (herself, her parents and 3 siblings).
I will update this post as new donors join until the goal is reached.
I will open with this collective fundraiser with my own commitment of $50/month.
Current state: $50 / $690

Zionism is the true #antisemitism.
The latest UK YouGov poll asked participants questions to test their take on Jewish and Israel, and it breaks down those results by political affiliation.
The further you move to the right, the more likely you are to find intolerance towards Jews - but support towards Israel.
95% of the Greens and Libs would be comfortable to have a Jewish friend vs. 81% of the Reform voters.
Only 7% of the Greens think that Jewish people chase money more than others, but almost a quarter of Reform voters believes this prejudice to be true.
Things change dramatically however when the focus shifts from Jews to Israel.
Those who support far right parties are those who are most comfortable to surround themselves with people who openly support Israel. 15% of the Greens responded yes to this question vs. 55% of Reform.
When it comes to an obvious question such as "Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is similar to how the Nazis treated the Jews", a whopping 71% of the Greens responded affirmatively, but only 19% of Reform supporters did so.
The takeaway is quite obvious.
Those on the right don't support Israel because they really care about the safety of the Jews. They do because they don't believe that Jews belong to their societies.
They are the same people who keep mentioning that Muslims or Afro-americans should "go back to their country" - whatever that country is.
They are so rooted in cancerous nationalistic identity politics that they see anyone who doesn't look or think like them as a threat to their own identity.
They see the world as a bunch of arbitrary fences with arbitrary borders that should be inhabited by people who all think and look alike.
Support for Israel, from this perspective, has nothing to do with supporting the safety of the Jews or their right to self-determination, and everything to do with expelling a foreign body from their societies (just like Hitler did), and dumping the problem on other people (the Arabs) that they also don't give a damn about.
That is the ultimate embodiment of antisemitism.
Those who condemn Israel or do not recognize its right to exist, at least not in that place and in that form, are often those who have absolutely no issues with Jews being part of their societies, and don't justify so much suffering being inflicted on the Arab populations in order to solve a problem that doesn't even exist for them.

Angham is a woman from #Gaza who is asking for a bit of support to stand back on her feet and restart her professional life.
Keep in mind that our friends from Gaza really don't enjoy to ask for your donations.
They just want a path back to dignity and self-subsistence and be listened by a world that has turned its back on them.
All she needs is a camera to pursue again her job in photography and provide support for her children without having to worry about Chuffed campaigns or Mastodon netiquette.
Because of the scarce supply of everything in the strip cameras (and many other technological items) are very expensive and out of reach for most of the population.
Do you think that we can give her a little boost to help her rebuild her life?

@nada has had quite some strokes of bad luck after joining Mastodon.
It's important for us that those who are already facing so much hardship, displacement and international isolation in their lives don't feel abandoned, insulted or constantly displaced here on the Internet too.
I have therefore decided to offer her a safe shelter on my personal instance.
I wouldn't normally allow other accounts to register to my personal instance, but this action is the reflection of exceptional circumstances - I can't let those circumstance further hurt, for no fault of theirs, someone who has already experience a lot of trauma.
She should be able to migrate her followers as soon as her previous account is temporarily unsuspended. In the meantime, if you were following her previous account, feel free to follow her here.

You say "death penalty sentences handed down by military courts, to defendants who are not entitled to a proper trial, and who will be held in separate facilities with no external visitors, and executed within 90 days".
I read "concentration camps".

There's a trio of sadistic regimes whose UN votes keep confirming their roles as enemies of humanity.
Those morally bankrupt countries are, to little surprise:
After voting against a UN resolution that condemns the use of torture, they are also united against a UN resolution that condemns slavery.

This is not your usual bot account, nor your usual troll or rage-baiter.
This is a genuine scumbag hiding behind an anonymous account who is sexually harassing women in #GazaVerified over private messages.
A message to this scumbag, as I'm pretty sure that he's reading me: please print this screenshot and show it to your children one day - assuming that such a miserable evolutionary failure as you has an even remote chance of reproducing successfully.
Tell them how proud you are of yourself, and tell them how much you consider your civilization superior to those of the Middle East when it comes to how we treat our women.

Game theory predicts that this is likely to be a long conflict.
#Trump is an actor who feels like having the upper hand in any negotiation and who always tries to maximize concessions given from the adversary over the shortest arc of time, leveraging the confusion and shock that his sudden actions have over his adversaries.
#Iran is an actor that, after many rounds of negotiations and unilateral withdrawals, is ready to play the long game - well aware that any rushed deal will end up with more concessions from their side.
Trump wants to withdraw as he realized that he has just been sleepwalked by Israel into a long conflict that is going to impact prices of oil and inflation on the long term on top of the midterms, for something that was really mostly just in Israel's interests - and in the meantime he's trying to frame this suicidal mission as a success for him. Another "war he ended" (after starting it himself) to add to his collection.
Iran no longer trusts its interlocutor and is afraid that any retreat may hide another trick - look no further than the Hamas negotiators bombed in Qatar while they were waiting for the Israeli delegation. And, now that they have realized the power that they hold over the straight of Homuz, they may just be driven to play the long game in order to maximize the concessions from the other side.
And any further hostile act by Iran is very unlikely to be ignored both by a vindicative man like Trump and by Israeli hawks who have interest in maximizing the duration of this war.
When will the US and Israel understand that they can't just solve all the problems in the Middle East by dropping a couple of bombs, slaughtering a political leader and then calling it a victory?

We've all heard the adage "data is the new oil, and your attention is the currency" at least once over the past years.
Yet I think that many of us ignored the deep consequences of that statement.
Countries go at war for oil. They don't care about fairness, lawfulness, or even about their own reputation when they do so.
If they feel that they need more oil to run their economies, then they'll just go and grab it if they are in a position to do so.
Similarly, tech companies today are waging a war against those who own the data (you and everyone else with a connection to the Internet).
They don't care about fairness, lawfulness, or even about their own reputation when they do so.
They need your data to run a profit, and they'll just grab it, no matter the costs.
So you end up with the average headline on the #NewYorkTimes, from Chrome and without an ad-blocker or a filter on the VPN, which performs 422 network requests and transfers 49 MB of data: https://thatshubham.com/blog/news-audit
On #PCGamer, we're in the order of the 37 MB: https://stuartbreckenridge.net/2026-03-19-pc-gamer-recommends-rss-readers-in-a-37mb-article/
Jokes on how many times we could have gone to the moon and back with the same computing power required to read a book or game review online in 2026 are welcome.
On one hand, it's amazing that hardware and software have progressed so much over the last 30 years that all this bloat can be absorbed - sure, it still takes even a powerful smartphone ~30 seconds to fully process that many requests and that much JavaScript, but think of how long it would have taken you 15 years ago to fully download and watch a video of the same size in your browser.
On the other hand, it's awful that all the technological progress has been used to just cram more crap inside of your browser or device, so the end-user doesn't really see any benefits of it.
And why does a Web page supposed to render a simple static article have to make that many requests and share so much data in the first place, you may ask?
Sure, there may be some paywall code, some Cloudflare bot checks, some Google Analytics, some cookie check to verify your authentication state...but 400-500 requests? 50 MB of data?
Well, what happens in these cases (and it's becoming increasingly common nowadays) is what I would call a "client-side data auction".
The page that you render tries to fingerprint you and grab as much data as it can about you, and send over that data to as many partners as possible.
Those partners can respond by deciding whether to display an ad or not on the page you're rendering, and whether you fit a segment that is worth the cost of repeatedly bidding to show you a certain ad.
Then there's basically a little auction going on as JavaScript code in your browser, where partners gather your data, analyze it, categorize it, evaluate how much it fits the ads that they have in their portfolio, and if the estimated click-through rate for that kind of ad for the segment you likely fit in justifies the investment of the auction, and within 30-60 seconds of your device getting hot to run a dynamic auction just to read the review of a book you eventually get your page rendered on your screen - with 60% of the screen estate littered in ads or affiliate links, and after clicking through a bunch more paywalls, newsletter subscription requests or invites to subscribe to get the full content.
Data is the new oil, and these folks don't care of wreacking havoc on your digital space in order to have it.
Then no wonder if people invest their time to use uBlock Origin on a Firefox fork, set up Pihole or use VPNs with content blocking.
The shittier you make your product, the more people you'll get that can't tolerate the stink.
And the more people start evading your shit, the more your business model will break, the shittier you'll have to make your product in order to squeeze profit.
And then even more people won't be able to stand the shit.
It's never too late to break this feedback loop.

Reasons
Conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism
Account specifically created a few days ago with the purpose of targeting/rage-bating me and
(like the other copycat accounts)
Exact same patterns as the other accounts (anonymous accounts, no interactions with the people in the thread, only sharing memes published by the same propaganda page, no activities on their profiles other than semi-automated replies against a few specific targets, preference for German instances)
The other copycat accounts have also been suspended by most of the instances on the Fediverse, but new accounts that exhibit the same behaviour keep popping up every couple of days
This post that targets us for anti-Zionism has been published under a Fediblock call by Aral against a literal antisemitic profile. Yet these profiles don't seem to show much interest towards truly racist and antisemitic content. They only harass those who support #Gaza.
The human cost of enshittification.
Over 60,000 cybertrucks sold in just two years, there have been at least 5 deadly incidents that the Guardian could track where the occupants of the car couldn't get to safety (both doors and and windows have only electronic controls).
A disproportionate statistic given the relatively low number of units sold.
The thickness, types and shape of the materials selected to build the car also make recovery and escape nearly impossible - the very features that make it "bullet-proof" also make it the perfect cremation oven.
In other times, the manufacturer would have been forced to recall the truck and class actions would have forced it to pay millions to the families of the victims.
Not in the times of enshittification.
#Tesla did not return multiple requests for comment. In court filings, it has denied any wrongdoing and said the Cybertruck is compliant with federal safety standards and the company has satisfied its duty to warn customers about the risks and dangers of using its product.
They warned ya.
If you get barbecued inside of it because there's no way out if the electronics fail, it's your own fault.
They are compliant with federal safety standards (the very standards that Musk lobbied to dilute), so they're fine.

I have actually found the perfect use-case for #Madblog and the new federated visibility features today.
I've got an upcoming gig with a friend who also happens to have a Mastodon handle.
Sharing setlists is a notorious nightmare across musicians. Sending Excel or Word documents back and forth over email or WhatsApp, and gradually lose track of the changes, is still the most common way.
Until recently I used to share spreadsheets on my Nextcloud instance instead, but that also proved to be cumbersome (creating a public shared URL, asking your friends to install the CollaboraOffice app on their phones because the default rendering of spreadsheets in the Webview is suboptimal, deal with friends who would accidentally wipe rows or cells without having a proper versioning system...).
Today I got a better idea: what if the setlist is just a Markdown post on my blog, set with visibility: direct, and where I tag my fellow musician(s) on the parts where I need their input?
It won't clutter my blog index because it's neither public nor unlisted.
My friends over Mastodon get a notification when I save the file where they're mentioned, and they can opt whether to see the setlist directly in their Mastodon client or on the Madblog URL.
If they have any comments, they just drop them as direct replies on their Mastodon thread, and they're also rendered as comments under the Madblog page.
The process is documented. Comments persisted. Changes versioned over git. The document can be shared as a simple URL. Songs have all the space that they want on a Markdown page (you can add chords, lyrics, notes, without cramming them into an Excel row). Everyone gets notified on their favourite app when there are some changes. And I get notified when they have comments.
I don't think I'm going back to spreadsheets.

#Kagi translate now also offers the ability to translate your text into "LinkedIn speech".
Been laid off because you were spending your time at work playing games and watching porn? Don't worry, you have a new best friend who will turn your story into a fluffy condensate of hollow nonsense ready to be posted on LinkedIn and attract a horde of recruiters to your profile.
#Android is fucking dead.
If you have an Android device, please wipe it and install #PostmarketOS today while you can still unlock the bootloader.
We all know that #Google wants to kill the "unverified/sideloaded" apps (names carefully selected by Google's professional gaslighters to give a negative connotation to "apps that are not distributed by Google's own store").
We all know that the new "verification process" amounts basically to a ransom where you need to give Google your keys and your money if you want to build apps for Android.
It involves developers handing their signing keys to Google (so they will sign your package for you and will also able to decrypt your secrets) and paying them a $25 fee for each app.
Even if you don't even use the Play Store to distribute your apps.
This is not a price to pay to get the app distributed through them, nor for using any of their services. It's a price to pay just because they want to control the whole ecosystem end-to-end, and they know that they can get away with that because you'll keep using their shitty OS even if you're outraged at them.
We all know that they got a lot of backlash. And after the backlash they reiterated that they "listened to the community" and would have made a process to still allow people to "sideload apps".
Well, today that process has been finally unveiled. And it sounds even shittier than I thought.
That's because Google is currently filled with the best professional enshittificators in the world: the job role of these people is not to build new things, nor to listen to customers and build what they want. No, their job is specifically to find the sweet spot where they can make things as shitty as possible, add as much friction and user frustration as possible to prevent them from doing a certain thing, while still being able to tell regulators "well, it's not that shitty, you see? We still give users an option - buried under 10 layers of dark patterns".
In order to install apps external to the Play Store you will have to:
Activate the developer settings (the usual "tap the build number 7 times to show the hidden menu" thing)
In the developer settings, enable "Allow Unverified Padckages"
Confirm that you are not being coerced (seriously, how much malware did they actually see installed by people being coerced or tricked to download and install random APK files?)
Restart your device
Wait 24 hours
Return to the unverified packages settings
Scroll past 3-4 additional warnings whose sole purpose is to scare you off
Select either "Allow temporarily" (7 days) or "Allow indefinitely" (and I've got a hunch that the Allow indefinitely option will probably be gradually phased out)
