“What institutions really care about is certainty — certainty of execution, certainty of settlement.”

That line from Nick Ducoff, Head of Institutional Growth at the Solana Foundation summed up the stablecoin conversation at Breakpoint 2025.

The point wasn’t about speed. It was about trust at scale. Stablecoins only work for institutions when networks behave predictably—fees don’t spike, uptime holds, and settlement is boring.

What stood out: ✅ Performance alone isn’t enough ✅ Predictable fees matter more than peak speed ✅ Reliability is a prerequisite for scale ✅ Stablecoins are becoming the main institutional use case

It felt like a shift from “how fast can this go?” to “can this run every day without surprises?”

“Stablecoins are a beautiful instrument.” That line from Sergio Mello, Head of Stablecoins at Anchorage Digital, framed the conversation at Solana Breakpoint 2025.

What he was really pointing to is how much stablecoins have changed. They’re no longer just crypto liquidity tools. They’re starting to look like infrastructure that banks, businesses, and payment systems can actually build on.

What stood out: ✅ Stablecoins combine payments, settlement, and treasury ✅ Regulation is becoming a feature, not a constraint ✅ Institutional issuers are entering with real balance sheets ✅ On-chain rails are starting to compete with legacy systems

It felt less like a crypto narrative and more like a monetary one. When deposits move on-chain, the conversation shifts fast.

“It was important for us that xStocks will not be just one exchange or one wallet product, but an ecosystem play.” That line from Adam Levi Ph.D., Co-founder of Backed Finance AG stood out at Solana Breakpoint 2025.

His point wasn’t about tokenization as a feature. It was about distribution. xStocks weren’t built to live in one app or for one type of user—they were designed to move across venues, wallets, and audiences.

What stood out: ✅ Adoption came from ecosystem reach, not vertical integration ✅ xStocks reached real scale quickly ✅ Distribution spanned crypto natives, Telegram users, and institutions ✅ Institutions entered through in-kind issuance, not just trading

It felt like a reminder that financial products scale when they fit into many workflows, not when they’re perfectly designed for one.

“Sixty percent of all transaction fees come from transactions that include a DEX swap.” That stat from Daniel Smith, Head of Data at Blockworks, jumped out at me during Solana Breakpoint 2025.

It wasn’t just about growth—it was about what’s actually paying the bills. Solana’s revenue is no longer riding on one-off cycles or incentives. It’s being pulled by trading demand.

What stood out: ✅ Solana leads all chains in revenue-generating apps ✅ Trading drives both app fees and base-layer fees ✅ Prop AMMs now route most spot volume ✅ Revenue follows market activity, not narratives

It felt like a confirmation that Solana’s economics are now tied to how much people actually trade, not how much they’re incentivized to show up.

“Returns are the truth.” is the line from Ben Nadareski, Co-Founder & CEO of Solstice.Finance, stuck with me from Solana Breakpoint 2025.

What he was really pointing to is a change in behavior. Solana doesn’t need to pay people to participate anymore. Capital shows up when returns stand on their own.

What stood out: ✅ Yield is no longer propped up by emissions ✅ Trading volume and funding rates are doing real work ✅ Stablecoins and RWAs are becoming return layers ✅ On-chain returns are starting to resemble familiar financial products

It felt like a shift from experimentation to consequence. When returns are earned, the system starts telling you what actually works.

“The age of proof of concepts is over and the time to build properly has come.”

That line set the tone for Theo Golden, CFA from Baillie Gifford at Solana Breakpoint 2025.

Coming from a ~$300B asset manager, this wasn’t a crypto-native rallying cry. It was a statement about readiness. Theo’s point was that on-chain finance won’t scale through pilots or observation—it scales when institutions actively use these systems and improve them in production.

What stood out: ✅ Proofs of concept are no longer sufficient ✅ Operational risk is the real gating factor ✅ Tokenization needs a native, no-mirror standard ✅ TradFi and crypto have to collaborate, not compete It felt like a clear signal that institutional adoption won’t be driven by curiosity. It will be driven by economics and practicality, becoming self-evident.

“The core metric that we care about… is cost,” he said. The most convincing metric wasn’t TPS. It was cost.

Watching Eugene Chen, CEO from Ellipsis Labs at Solana Breakpoint 2025, he walked through how Solana trading moved from passive AMMs to active market making—and why that matters.

What stood out: • $1M trades that once moved price ~30 bps now clear around 5 bps • Prop AMMs dominate major pairs • Execution quality saves real money at scale • That same approach is now extending to on-chain perps

It felt like a quiet but important shift: on-chain trading starting to compete on the same terms as centralized venues.

“Millions of assets are launching on chain every day and we think these should be accessible to all of our users,” he said.

What stood out wasn’t the number of assets — it was where they showed up.

Watching Andrew Allen from Coinbase at Solana Breakpoint 2025, the message was clear: on-chain distribution doesn’t require new apps. It requires familiar ones to go deeper.

What stuck with me: -Solana DEX trading lives inside the Coinbase app -Users trade unlisted assets without new workflows -Issuers reach millions without listings -Coinbase becomes a distribution layer, not a gatekeeper

It felt like a shift from deciding what gets listed to deciding what gets surfaced. I think that distinction matters.

“The whole trading experience is identical to the standard CEX trading experience,” he said.

The most interesting part of this demo wasn’t that it was on-chain. It was that nothing felt on-chain.

Watching Sabs S. / Sabs Sachdeva from Coinbase at Solana Breakpoint 2025, he walked through Solana Labs DEX trades executed directly inside the Coinbase app. Same UI. Same funding rails. Same portfolio view.

What stood out: • Users trade with USD, USDC, or bank accounts • Slippage and routing happen invisibly • DEX and CEX assets live side by side • No new workflows to learn

It reinforced a pattern I keep seeing: adoption accelerates when crypto disappears into familiar interfaces.

“One of the things that gets us really excited is keeping those big economic event days super boring,” he said. A few speakers talked about speed. Brennan talked about boring.

Watching Brennan Watt, VP of Core Engineering from Anza at Solana Breakpoint 2025, the goal was clear: when the stakes are highest, nothing should feel exciting.

What stood out: • Nearly 200B transactions already processed • Throughput gains without breaking stability • Constant stress testing behind the scenes • Market-structure upgrades to keep trading fair

It felt like the most institutional mindset of the week. Real maturity shows up when the biggest moments pass without incident.

If you’re building for scale, this version of “success” feels hard to argue with.

“$9.9 billion was stolen from users because they willingly or unwillingly shared their seed phrases,” he said. The number that stuck with me was $9.9 billion.

Watching Filip Dragoslavic, Co-CEO from Solflare at Solana Breakpoint 2025, the point wasn’t that users are careless. It was that the tools are asking too much.

He broke it down simply: • Seed phrases are still the weakest link • Complexity creates failure, not safety • Hardware wallets overcorrected and priced people out • Security works better when it does one thing well

Solflare’s approach—offline signing only, no screens or cables—felt less like innovation and more like restraint. Strip it down until the control actually works.

If you’re thinking about custody, this felt like a very grounded reset.

“The primary moat that any exchange has is liquidity,” he said. What stood out wasn’t that prediction markets are growing—it’s how they’re growing.

Watching John Wang from Kalshi at Solana Breakpoint 2025, the message was clear: scale comes from aggregation, not fragmentation.

What stuck with me: • Volume is now around $6B per month • Liquidity is the real moat for any exchange • Regulation isn’t a blocker—it’s an enabler • On-chain rails are used for distribution, not ideology

It felt like a very pragmatic take: prediction markets don’t win by being novel, they win by being accessible, regulated, and liquid in one place.

If you’re building or watching prediction markets, this convergence feels like the inflection point.

“They look like just another AMM from the user’s perspective, but they behave more like on-chain market makers,” he said. One of the most useful clarifications I heard was that a lot of AMMs…aren’t really AMMs anymore.

That was Chris C., CEO & Co-Founder from Ghost, speaking at Solana Breakpoint 2025.

He explained that most swap volume now flows through what he called “prop AMMs.” They look familiar on the surface, but under the hood they behave like proprietary trading firms.

What stood out: • Active quoting replaces passive curves • Inventory is actively managed • Pricing changes based on transaction structure • Execution depends on who’s trading and how

It made a lot of confusing execution outcomes suddenly make sense.

If you’re trading or building on-chain, this shift feels important to understand.
