This is a great summary of what’s been happening across the Bitcoin ecosystem. I appreciate that he acknowledged Zcash as the canary in the coal mine for how AI is exposing software and security vulnerabilities across the industry.
I also respect that he, along with other Bitcoiners, is beginning to take accountability and embrace red-teaming to strengthen the ecosystem.
My frustration is with those who spent weeks attacking Zcash while the broader software industry was racing to identify and address vulnerabilities using AI. That time and energy could have been spent proactively identifying weaknesses and potentially preventing some of the exploits we’ve since seen.
I consider him a good-faith actor, but Bitcoin still has a cultural problem with toxic maximalism. That mindset needs to evolve. We should be encouraging collaboration, constructive criticism, and proactive security research rather than dismissing innovation elsewhere.
Ultimately, the goal should be to make Bitcoin stronger, more secure, and more resilient.
