me when i value the goose and not the eggs

i fucking love the goose value thing because it is a premier example of "meme becomes well-known within a certain small group of people, and then somehow makes it onto fedi and then literally 1/3 of the entire network is gooseposting". i love how we just wholeheartedly embrace random things sometimes /gen

initial feedback from testing federation: things appear to be working amazingly, however there are 2 minor hang-ups:

1, PeerTube support does not appear to be implemented: https://docs.joinpeertube.org/api/activitypub and 2, I can’t see reblogs at all (maybe give remote users a dedicated “reblogs” magazine from flipboard’s perspective that reblogs are then flipped into)

hey, just out of curiosity, I’ve applied to have my flipboard.com account federated (I think it’s really promising and wanna try it out), any ETA on that? will I get an email or something?

thanks! :)

if systemd is so good where's systeme

you know how Twitter makes a bird chirp when you get a notification? mastodon should make an elephant noise. this is a completely solid idea with zero flaws whatsoever

reposting with better alt

FYI for people bridged from bluesky: the reason I reblog posts instead of liking them is because there’s no algorithms around these parts, so if you enjoy a post you reblog it. then your followers see it and they can reblog it and their followers see it and so on and so forth :P

#AskFedi

looking for a good general purpose instwnce blocklist. anyone got any suggestions?

“British culture is being destroyed by foreigners!” Oh yeah? Imagine how all the countries you invaded felt, then.

I gotta say, I love fedi. something about the interoperability and lack of algorithms or ads creates this really fun experience. it’s the first and only time I’ve had actual fun on social media, ever. here’s to many more toots!

#ActivityPub #Fediverse #Mastodon #OpenRegistrationHurts

made a downright AMAZING post about the perils of open registration a while ago, and I suggest you go show them some attention. But some of the discussion on that post got me thinking. The main reason people don't want manual account approval, it seems, is because of the time it takes. So, I propose a third registration mode. This would require no extra modifications to ActivityPub and perhaps one minor tweak to nodeinfo (1/?)

you do know that they would still be hanging out on any other social platform right

hey, ever considered implementing the "fediverse:creator" meta tag on PeerTube pages? you could have it link back to the associated PeerTube profile so that mastodon embeds of PeerTube videos would show a "more from" section on the embed with a link to the PeerTube channel!

hey! just reaching out to let you know that (for some reason) https://channel.org/.well-known/nodeinfo shows a 404 page.

hello chat, i would like to remind you that there is a #trans flag on https://mastodon.social/share and various other mastodon pages. fucking awesome /gen

I suppose it's about time I did one of these, huh? Hello! I'm GroupNebula563 (though you can call me Nebula, or Furbland, or whatever really). Signed up way back in 2022 and have loved the platform and network ever since! Avid collector of #chinafakes (bootleg/knockoff/generic toys from China) and small YouTuber/PeerTuber (

) aiming for that old YouTube feel. Gave Bsky a try a while back, but it never really resonated with me and it isn't as open. #introduction #intro
