In the case of rape, abortion is self defense.
The idea that rape is very unlikely to result in a pregnancy is utterly without evidence. Rape carries the same risk of pregnancy as a consensual sexual encounter.
A national study found about 5% of rapes of reproductive-age women result in pregnancy, roughly 32,000 a year in the U.S., which is the same as the odds from a single act of consensual unprotected sex, and there's no known physiological mechanism by which rape prevents conception. "Most rapes don't cause pregnancy" is just the normal base rate of conception, not something special about rape.
Most men are amazing. And I'm a huge fan 🫶

I still haven't found quite the right word. Help me out here!

I reached a big milestone yesterday, I had a dream where I was speaking in Spanish!
Now it's because in the dream I was visiting a Spanish speaking place and the dream was partially about my anxiety over communicating well with the locals. But still, it counts!

Rape is intentional intimate torture. Perhaps the most evil thing you can do to another.
Should that intentional intimate torture result in a woman’s body being taken over by the DNA of her torturer, attempting to prevent her from remedying the situation is to intentionally perpetuate a woman’s torture for the sake of a clump of cells that are not yet capable of experiencing pain.
It is an evil act.

I try to be considerate and balanced, but on this one I can't.
Attempting to force a woman to carry her rapists baby is one of the clearest examples of an evil act. If you should do this, you are guilty of evil.
It is what it is. I will not debate.

Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas all have abortion bans that do not have exceptions for rape.
Married gentlemen in these states, you do realize that this means it’s possible for another man to break into your house, rape your wife, impregnate her, and then you’d be legally required to just help her though the pregnancy and delivery of that rapists baby… You get that, right?

The States were founded on some pretty great principals ...and a lot of appalling crime. The story of the Native Americans is horrific. But one thing I admire about the US is that we just love a comeback story. We root for the underdog.
Deb Haaland, a Native American woman, is the governor elect of New Mexico. This is both an American horror story and the American dream.
We get better.

Some facts...
The United States was founded as a secular nation.
The constitution, written in 1787, contains no mention of Christianity or any specific religion and does not establish a national church.
Article VI of the constitution prohibits religious tests for public office, “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
The first amendment states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”
The first US coinage minted in 1792 contained no religious wording.
The 1796 Treaty of Tripoli signed by President John Adams states “The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.”
The re-branding of the US as a Christian nation happened a lot later.
1864 - “In God We Trust” was added to the currency. 1954 - “Under God” was added to the pledge of allegiance.

What happens in voting booths is a measure of what’s happening in our culture 👀 I often shit on voting as I detest our two party model. The perpetual lesser of two evils is a grotesque system. Sometimes I’ve skipped voting, some times I write in Batman, and often I vote straight third party. But, the measure we took of our culture yesterday was encouraging.
For years now it’s been terrifying to watch American culture slide toward authoritarianism. And not just that, but white Christian nationalism. Women losing rights, rampant Islamophobia. It becoming cool again to use ‘gay’ as a pejorative. And the rampant trans hate. I’ve seen people I know IRL call for rounding them all up and putting them in camps. Wow. There have been a lot of pretty fucked up social trends.
But yesterday… Our humanity returned at least a bit. And to be clear, I don’t give a shit about red vs blue, I care about authoritarianism vs humanity. So here are some inspiring wins on that front…
• 3 openly gay men got elected to congress from the states of New Hampshire, Indiana, and Michigan.
• Nevada and Virginia amended their state constitution to give women bodily autonomy.
• Missouri rejected an attempt to repeal women’s bodily autonomy.
• Virginia solidified it’s gay marriage support deciding that marriage is between any two consenting adults.
• Michigan elected the first Muslim U.S. senator.
• Minnesota elected the first Native American woman U.S. senator.
• Georgia elected the first Black woman governor in U.S. history.
• Texas elected a Latina governor.
• Nevada, Florida, and Wisconsin elected their first black governors.
And there is some reason to interpret this ‘blue wave’ as a rejection of recent war mongering 🫶 However, the problem remains that probably half of these people are part of the Epstein class. But what is encouraging to me is to see American citizens reject the white Christian authoritarian image of our country’s future that has been pushed on them so intensely these past few years.
That is such an epic relief. A tiny bit of my faith in humanity was restored ❤️

Elon has gotten a lot of undeserved hate over the years, but lately, he seems determined to earn that hate.
For years I’ve seen people hate on Elon for contrived reasons, and I’ve defended him. And the man has been behind a lot of very interesting businesses. I’ve bought his products. It’s fair to admire his work. Credit where credit is due.
But geez, at this point, having admiration for him as a human being is just a grotesque look.

Being autistic is not an excuse for being a shitty person.
Being autistic is not an excuse for repeatedly acting like a middle school asshat.
It’s very frustrating when people excuse shitty behavior because of someone’s autism.
Autism does often make people direct, and others may experience them as rude, or tactless, but that is not the same thing as being a middle school asshat. Please stop it with this association.

I did like Elon... for like 5 mins, about 5 years ago.
He has been behind a lot of cool businesses. Starlink is my favorite. It's totally fair to praise him for his part in that.
But the man is just a shit human being on so many fonts. An absentee father who abandons his LGBT kids. A guy who, intentionally or not did throw a nazi salute on stage and then instead of apologizing just spent the whole next day making nazi jokes on Twitter. A guy who supports politicians and tries to buy votes. A guy who hangs out with the red pill crew. On and on.
Praising him as a human being is a grotesque look.
The danger of getting close to authoritarians…
If they would diminish the freedom of their loved ones for their own sense of superiority, how stupid would we be to think they won't do the same to us?
Your rawness dissolves my masks.
Thank you.

Ahh the stupidity of patriarchy...

Here is the big problem with authoritarianism in Bitcoin:
Someone who wants those closest to them, the people they claim to love and care for most in life, to "submit" to them clearly doesn't understand, or hold sacred, the sovereign soul.
Those who proudly declare things like “Jesus is king!” reveal that they revere authority and domination.
If they value sovereignty for themselves but not their loved ones, if they value peace and love but wish damnation for those outside their community, why should we think they will be consistent in applying their values in Bitcoin?
Humans are complex. These people are likely not simple liars, but this hypocrisy is very concerning, and it matters a lot.
If enough personal “freedom” were on offer, what might they demand others submit to in exchange?

Halloween is my favorite. Yesterday I had two costumes! A simple and classic costume - Carmen Sandiego. Great for taking the kids out.
And then a more elaborate costume, a Druid! I took some artistic liberties here and went with a moss green robe, and the face paint is really more Nordic than Celtic, but it’s Halloween, the drama is fun! https://blossom.primal.net/e40803ba10eccab14fe0b54763026f9c9d3a8dfb027f20fada2cb2f48b9da37a.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/d74119785388f560ce19e70a9f9eaebf566fda953432f8aae61da0a601aef264.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/09bbe6a203d9096e5fa6dceb2d831d4919dc46ecec8acb84f4eaafe318d2c1a5.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/371e677b63ebf59fa2c3be742e75088f0a68e97bb8de64deca22a728393496b2.jpg

Well yesterday whilst meandering around town I wound up at a really big bar where nearly everyone was in costume. Now of course Warp Core Cafe is Sci-Fi and people at the bar were Sci-Fi, anime, fantasy, pop-culture, etc, etc. But for a few mins there it really felt like walking through Warp Core Cafe and it was fabulous!

Authoritarianism – why are there so many Bitcoiners that are so weary of authority and yet proudly proclaim their personal authoritarian ideals?
I was recently having a chat w/ a person from the crypto world and was trying to explain why things are done differently here. “No, we don’t have foundations, we don’t trust them”. “No we don’t do that as that would be a concentration of power”. Etc. etc. And I love that about Bitcoin! A desire to remove the concentration of power in the world that comes from fiat money is what brought me to the Bitcoin world.
And so I am perpetually stumped by this strange dichotomy of so many seemingly anti-authoritarian Bitcoiners who also embrace patriarchy and Christianity. [Jesus was often anti-authoritarian, but unfortunately most modern American Christianity does not follow the teachings of Jesus and is intensely authoritarian]
So how can these things co-exist in the same people? How can a person be such a fan of personal autonomy, free markets, free choice, freedom of speech, self reliance, not trusting others, etc. … and yet want their partner in life to submit to them, and think that others must conform to their way of life or justly suffer eternal damnation?
Please do tell me, how the fuck can that co-exist in the same person???

“Positive regard”. It means understanding someone’s inherent worth and assuming a core of goodness in them. It does not mean agreeing with them or condoning any of their actions.
Positive regard is necessary for having productive conversations on a difficult topic. If you want to discuss a difficult societal issue you’ll find that you can do that productively with other reasonable people... when you are looking through a lens of positive regard for everyone being discussed.
However, if you show up to a conversation to vent your anger, or to seek emotional revenge for your wounds, that conversation will rapidly break down into a yelling match where everyone can walk away claiming to be the victim. Not productive.
You gotta understand how programmable your mind is.
Humans are really incredibly variable and if you don’t consciously chose how to mold your own mind it will be done for you by the people you hang out with and the bots who swarm your social media.
10/29/2026, 2 engagements
It’s not what you are discussing, it’s the way in which you are discussing it. That's the problem.
Yesterday we were discussing rape, and consent, and coercion… tough topics. I asked the question, can a man be a rapist and not know it? Now that’s a difficult question, and I could discuss that in two different ways, with understanding, and without.
With understanding: We have a culture that teaches young men that they need to be the pursuer and that women will ‘play hard to get’ and they need to be persistent.
Without understanding: Men have very little respect for women’s boundaries and constantly push them.
Do ya see that difference? Now both are in broad terms generally accurate. But one has some understanding and talks about the people involved with “positive regard” and one with a very negative lens.
So go on and talk about the difficult topic, but bro, if it’s not your intention to vent your hatred, do so with some understanding, some positive regard.
Can a man not know that he is a rapist??
I keep seeing pictures of Russell Brand cuz of his rape trial, but, I don’t see a rapist when I look at him.
Disclaimer: I don’t know this guy, I wasn’t there, I am not declaring him innocent or guilty. I have no idea. I’m just pondering.
I have never been a big fan of his. He was interesting for about 5 mins when he left the Hollywood scene and when he got into Bitcoin. ...and then it quickly became clear how off the rails he is... it seems in anything that he does.
Now you don’t get that many women accusing you of assault and willing to go through a massively disruptive process in their life to prove it unless something went very wrong. But despite it being very clear that he is a very unbalanced person, I don’t get any sense of danger when I look at photos or videos of him, and I certainly do when looking at other famous rapists such as Weinstein or Diddy. Now my perception doesn’t necessarily mean anything to anyone, but it fuels a lot of curiosity for me.
I think it might be possible for a man to not know that he is a rapist. When you have a culture where women are shamed out of any connection to their own sexual desires and so very limited in their ability to communicate about it. When you have a culture that makes it very difficult to report an assault. When you have a culture that teaches young men that they need to be the pursuer and that women will ‘play hard to get’ and they need to be persistent. When you have a culture that values men for their ability to ‘dominate’. And when you mix that all with the loss of perspective and connection to reality that comes with massive fame… can a man rape women and not realize that’s what’s happening?
Can a man see himself as respecting women, see himself as respectful of “no’s” and yet be in a position that allows him to just bull doze his way through a sexual encounter not realizing the metaphorical or literal corner that he has backed someone into and walk away from the experience genuinely believing that everyone had a good time? Do you think that’s possible?
