Daniella ✨

I've been researching Nostr's retention for several weeks reading papers, querying relays, running distribution analysis. The work isn't finished, but I saw the conversations from over the weekend this morning and decided to share what I have now rather than wait. The early data raises questions about whether default follow lists may be concentrating new user attention in ways that affect retention: https://daniella.io/nostr-retention-structural-diagnosis

The numbers are preliminary and the sample is limited, that's why I planned on running an anonymous survey to complement the relay data with direct user experience. If you use #Nostr or know someone who tried it and left, your two minutes would help: https://daniella.io/polls (closes June 22).

Full methodology, data, and recommendations in the article shared in the spirit of what Derek Ross said: "Seek solutions. Push the conversation forward. Discuss things in the open." Tomorrow I'll also share the onboarding tutorial my audience asked me to put together with a number of Nostr resources that go with it. For now, GN.

TLDR: If you have been looking for deep-dives on how Fedi works, on Nostr clients, running your own BIP-110 node, setting up GrapheneOS, or agentic Ai for non-technical users, visit: https://daniella.io/build/

Value for value is a new economic model based on peer-to-peer zaps rather than corporate funding and interests. This model feels incredibly aligned with my values. I'm still trying to figure out how to make it sustainable, but I think I found something interesting :)

I built a set of pages on my website where you can zap specific long-form videos you want me to make, tailored to your needs. Each page has a zap goal and a form where you can tell me exactly what you want: the depth, the angle, your specific questions and challenges.

The first batch includes a complete GrapheneOS setup, a Bitcoin node walkthrough, a Fedi deep-dive, agentic AI for non-technical users, a hands-on Nostr tutorial, ancestral technologies, and more: https://daniella.io/build/

No companies, no sponsors, no ads, no third-parties taking large cuts. You fund what you want made, directly in Bitcoin, and I build it for you based on your needs.

If a video reaches its goal, I make it. If it does not, I will not. Everything is anonymous and the progress bar updates every Tuesday. I do not collect emails so if you want to know when a video will be published, check the build page, follow me on YouTube, Nostr, or my blog RSS.

I'm working on a video and in-person presentation about #Nostr for non-Bitcoiners. Been digging into the numbers ( let me know if you spot any errors) and it's pretty fascinating to see:

#YouTube Creator:

• 30% cut to YouTube
• 20–30% Income tax

Leaves about $25 for every $50 earned. If you save that $25, after 8 years at 10% inflation YoY, it would be worth about $12 in today’s purchasing power.

#v4v Model:

• No middlemen
• 20–30% Income tax
• No capital gains taxes if you don’t convert to fiat (most places)
• +45% CAGR if you hold it long term

If held for 8 years, $25 of sats would be worth ~$553 at a 45% CAGR. Considering 10% inflation YoY it could buy $258 of goods in today’s purchasing power in 8 years.

It’s clear v4v isn't sustainable short-term without savings or another form of income, but it operates on a completely different timeline. YouTube ads and other mainstream monetization models are firmly rooted in the fiat world while v4v is about manifesting the reality in which we wish to live; a higher timeline ⚡️✨

In a world increasingly defined by centralized control and eroding property rights (e.g. "You will own nothing and be happy"), owning your digital content is more important than ever. This is one reason why I have decided to offer the DRM-free .ePub of Beyond Money on my website.

Here's what you get:

• No DRM: You can upload the #eBook to any device you own
• Reflowable .ePub optimized for all readers and devices

Beyond Money is a journey into the hidden systemic forces that influence our thoughts, emotions, actions, and ultimately, our collective destiny. It dives deep into the crossroads of personal development, #spirituality, and #Bitcoin. Foreword by @Jeff Booth

Feedback from readers Matt and J.B.: “Daniella may have found the bottom of the rabbit hole with this one” “Reads like a rebellious manifesto, wrapped in an Alan Watts lecture”

Digital Rights Management (#DRM) is a is a technology designed to prevent unauthorized copying, sharing, distribution, or modification of digital media like software, music, videos, and ebooks, but can also lead to overreach. DRM is considered detrimental to ownership and property rights as it fundamentally alters the nature of what it means to “own” a digital product. Unlike a physical book, DRM can keep you from transferring your book between personal devices and can allow providers to remotely delete or disable your book. It may also require a persistent internet connection tied to a specific online account, which can lead to loss of access if the service shuts down or the user’s account is suspended.

Bitcoiners are building a present/future where individuals have control over their property and I am also here for it. While my goal is not to encourage pirating (the book is still protected by copyright) I hope this offer provides the freedom we expect when it comes to monetary value exchange and personal ownership of digital books.

You can also order it WITH DRM from Amazon which means it will be stuck in your Kindle account. Beyond Money is only on Amazon to reach a broader, non-Bitcoiner, general audience. Keep in mind that using this link does not support the author or the Bitcoin ecosystem: https://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Money-Regaining-Sovereignty-Rediscovering-ebook/dp/B0FQFM32JF/

I’m in the process of editing the author-recorded audiobook to ensure it captures the same energy and passion that went into writing the book (no AI or voice generation). It should be ready before the end of the Fall and will also be #DRM-Free ✨

My only source of income is the book and #Nostr zaps, so if you like my work feel free to support scaling Bitcoin education with a few sats, appreciate it ⚡️

Almost 10 years teaching on YouTube Never had sponsors, never will

Left a lot of money on the table But my opinion is not for sale

As a "content creator" I'm very exited about middleman-free #v4v and other new permissionless value exchange models emerging through the #Bitcoin and #Nostr ecosystems ✨
