Harvested a good chunk of Reishi today #mushrooms #grownostr

Harvested some Reishi mushroom. It took about 4 months to grow to this size. Just kept it inside the bag the entire time, no need for any fancy environment control.

Stage 2 of my sweet potato slips growing.
This is unnecessary but I’m trying to get them to grow a bit bigger hydroponically before I plant outside.

More progress on my port of the
to new hardware.
I have emerged victorious from the deep dark lands of buildroot carrying consistently functional OS images.
About to go film myself soldering the hardware.
All the pieces work.
Seedsigner dev on the luckfox is really nice as well
.
It speaks adb so its really easy to push files back and forth, instead of using scp or rsync.
Idk its pretty cool, wish I had some friends to try it out with me.

Black King Oyster harvest today. Some stats about this harvest:
I spawned 1lb of colonized grain to 10 lb bags of sawdust/soy hull gourmet substrate (thanks
for supplying!) on 02/19/2025. That means it took 37 days for these. Probably half of that time it was colonizing, half it was in the fruiting tent.
After pulling the mushrooms off of the block the total weight was: 4.716kg
I trimmed up these mushrooms to remove less desirable parts: Good looking mushrooms: 3.506kg Compost pieces: 1.21kg
So about 75% yield there. Which could definitely be improved by me harvesting at a better time, and maintaining better environmental conditions.
There is something in mushroom growing called "biological efficiency" (BE) which tells you how well you did. Each species of mushrooms has a range of acceptable values here.
Biological Efficiency = (Fresh Mushroom Weight / Dry Substrate Weight) × 100% Biological Efficiency
-> (3.506 kg / 5.443 kg) × 100% Biological Efficiency = 64.4%
I did the calculations based on a couple of difference dry substrate weights, which gave me a BE of 48.3% to 77.3%.
This is lower than the ideal (100-150%), but also my execution wasn't really ideal either. Its good to get this all written down so that next time around I have a goal to beat!

Loading some Lions Mane into the freeze dryer with
Going to make some infused hot chocolate

Not feeling very well today, but still have to check-in on the cultures and the farm.
Making some new agar plates as well, because I am running low.
Check out some cultures I have going. The first one is a "cube" variety. You can see that besides for one part, most of the rest is a vigorously growing isolation.
Then there are 2 petris of different Lions Mane strains. Lions Mane mycelium is definitely the weirdest of all, it grows very irregular, very wispy and stringy, but that is just how it looks.

Me painstakingly trying to optimize my WordPress website performance, and checking the results with: https://pagespeed.web.dev
I understand what I am doing but I am not great at it...
Then I look at other companies making significant bank in my industry, and they all have sorta shitty performance.
Takeaways...
Thanks again nostr for coming to my brain dump!

Mushroom harvest yesterday! Just a small harvest of a couple of blocks. This is a species I have never grown before. It is called Elm Oyster.
It was definitely a chonky boy and the wavy ends of the caps are distinctive of this species.
After about a year of work, and a wide variety of pieces coming together, 3D printing, embedded software (esphome, Shelly), cloud software (grafana), I have PID controller for the environmental control of the growing tent. It feels like a small achievement, how hard can PIDs be??? But it HAS come together, and I have high hopes that I can really start to ramp up production at this point.

Looking to start an email list for friends, family, supporters, etc.
Do many people here use #ghost ? I know
does, but I haven't heard of many others.
Do you pay for their SaaS? Being somewhat technical the temptation to self host is real.
I was starting to evaluate Listmonk, as a cheap open-source option, with about $2/mo hosting on PikaPods, but getting email to the destination reliably I have recently learned is a problem which is not free to solve.
What do you think? Go with the Ghost???

From the same culture, but one set of blue oyster is much bluer than the other.
Finally able to take some ok-ish “product photos” which is why come fruiting time I’m all about the mush photos.
Humidity in the tent is holding well. The mushrooms degrade at 50-60% humidity really fast, but they love it at like 85-90% humidity.

So my shoes which I use for everything (gym, running, walking) are totally worn down, so my wife bought me a new pair.
But I work indoors often (sometimes laboriously) and stand a lot so I need to wear shoes or else my feet hurt.
But my wife is #Korean so there is a no-shoe indoor policy, which I’ve gotten an exception for shoes which only reside indoors.
So now I got a dope new pair of indoor shoes, and I still run in my crappy shoes
LOL Happy wife happy life! Totally worth it
I should go back to Costco and buy another $30 pair

I think this chart is pretty cool. A couple things going on:
Left axis is both temperature and humidity in (degrees F and %) RIght axis is CO2 in (PPM)
The jagged temp/humidity is coming from the SCD41 sensor, which also has the CO2 sensor included. I am guessing the jaggedness is related to power supply ripples, or something power related...
The smooth temp/humidity is from the AM2301B sensor, which is generally a cheap sensor.
At about 9PM last night, I put this combination of sensors into my enclosed incubation chambers, and you can see as the CO2 rockets up 🚀 🆙 from the ambient CO2 of around 400PPM to about 1600PPM now.
This excessive CO2 might not be ideal for my incubation chamber, I might need to do something about it!
