Tuta

It's Reformation Day in Germany (or at least in Hanover, where we're based) 🇩🇪

This day reminds us that it's worth challenging #BigTech and standing up for what's right!

Because #PrivacyMatters ✊

At Tuta we will continue to fight for your right to privacy. 🔐❤️

Want to DeGoogle? Find out how 👉 https://tuta.com/blog/degoogle-list

What started as a dream to offer secure email communications in 2014 is now a reality as Tuta protects over 10 million users globally. 🔐❤️

In fact, so much has changed since Tuta, formerly Tutanota, was started and we couldn't be more proud.

None of this would be possible without your support, so this is a thank you from us to you! ❤️

Take a look at our development steps 👉 https://tuta.com/blog/development-feature-list

Note: Tuta will be down for ~10 minutes

We need to restart the servers for updating them with a non-critical security patch. This will lead to a downtime of approx. ten minutes. You can check the availability of Tuta here: https://status.tuta.com

We apologize for the inconvenience and we try to keep the downtime as short as possible. Emails that arrive during the downtime will be queued and delivered later to your mailbox.

A judge in New Mexico has ordered Zuck's Meta to pay $25 BILLION after a trial found it had lied to the public about how user data was handled.

This is very positive news, and it's great to see that New Mexico is holding Big Tech accountable. 💪👏

German court proves that Google is SPYING on us 😡

🚨🇪🇺 The #ChatControl trilogue starts on Tuesday & the EU Council is trying to pressure Parliament into giving up its opposition. We must stop them once again! 💪🏼

And the proposed compromise isn't targeted policing, it is mass surveillance!

Google is ignoring the rule, making €288 million in the EU - every day! Even though, the EU said stop. 🛑 One year later, Google's adtech conflicts of interest remain & it makes an estimated €288 MILLION EVERY DAY → More than €2 BILLION A WEEK. 🇪🇺😠

Last year the European Commission fined Google €2.95 billion for breaching the EU antitrust rules by abusing its dominant position in online ads.

It also said that due to conflict of interest Google may have to sell parts of its adtech business.

In light of yesterday's vote, we wanted to remind you that: Chat Control 1.0 is different from Chat Control 2.0 in that providers (like us at Tuta) are not forced to backdoor their end-to-end encryption for surveillance.

#ChatControl 1.0 HAS PASSED - despite a majority voting against it (314:276) 🚨

After the EU parliament has rejected it TWICE in the past, it has been pushed as an urgent procedure for a new plenary vote. The EU has simply continued to put the vote on the agenda to get the outcome they've wanted since the start.

This is not democratic‼️

CHAT CONTROL IS BACK → Today the urgent procedure for Chat Control 1.0 was passed.

NEXT UP: The EU Parliament is voting on Thursday.

If Chat Control passes: your messages, pictures, videos will all be scanned because the law will require it - this removes privacy and welcomes mass surveillance in the EU.

Share this post, make some noise, and let's fight for our right to privacy. ✊🏻♥️🇪🇺
