✍️ Jane Mayer's article about the National Guard's deployment in Washington D.C. was criticized for its tone-deaf take, which diminished the very people who were shot.
👉 The American military's work ethic is rooted in the idea that no honest task is beneath you 👉 The military embodies a culture of shared responsibility and practical competence 👉 The Guard's deployment in D.C. was not decorative, but rather a key factor in the drop in violent crime 👉 Most militaries do not behave this way, with many outsourcing basic upkeep and maintenance 👉 The American work ethic is born of national character, not just strategy or technology
