✍️ An Essex couple has become the first in the country to trial a scheme that uses a data centre in their garden shed to heat their home, resulting in significant energy bill savings.
👉 The HeatHub is a small data centre containing over 500 computers that captures the heat generated by the computers and transfers it to the Bridges' hot water system. 👉 The scheme is part of the UK Power Networks' SHIELD project, which aims to provide innovative solutions for low-income households to transition to net zero. 👉 The Bridges have also had solar panels and a battery installed as part of the project, which have contributed to their energy bill savings. 👉 The HeatHub is designed to provide both 'clean' and 'affordable' energy, as the electricity used to generate the heat is paid for by someone else.
