✍️ Roman philosopher Seneca outlined two arguments for vegetarianism in a letter to his friend Lucilius, one from Sextius and another from Pythagoras, which focused on the habit of cruelty and the transmigration of souls.
👉 Sextius argued that humans can get all the necessary nutrition from plants and that killing animals for pleasure makes people develop the habit of cruelty. 👉 Pythagoras believed in the transmigration of souls and argued that eating meat could be seen as killing a loved one. 👉 The habit of cruelty argument focuses on how eating meat affects human character, while the transmigration of souls argument focuses on the moral implications of eating meat.
