✍️ A British High Court judge has ruled that a company linked to underwear tycoon Doug Barrowman must repay the government over 121 million pounds for breaching a contract to supply surgical gowns during the pandemic.
👉 PPE Medpro was established in 2020 and was awarded lucrative contracts by the former Conservative administration to supply PPE during the pandemic. 👉 The company was sued by the new Labour government over allegations that it breached a deal for the gowns, which were found to be faulty and not sterile. 👉 The judge ruled that PPE Medpro must repay the government the price of the gowns as damages, although not the cost of storing them. 👉 PPE Medpro was led by Doug Barrowman, the husband of Michelle Mone, who had made her fortune through her lingerie brand Ultimo. 👉 Michelle Mone was appointed to the House of Lords in 2015 and has taken a leave of absence from Parliament to 'clear her name' over the scandal.
