👉 The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.6 and was centered off the coast of Misawa, in northern Japan. 👉 At least 30 people were injured, with one person suffering serious injuries on the northern island of Hokkaido. 👉 Tsunami waves of up to 70 centimeters were triggered, with several waves reported to have hit the coast. 👉 The Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued an initial tsunami alert, but later lifted it. 👉 Residents of Hachinohe fled to the city's town hall, while those in Sapporo received alerts on their cell phones.
