👉 Isabel Allende's new children's book, Perla y la pirata, tells the story of a dog named Perla and her adventures with a young boy named Nico. 👉 The book is inspired by Allende's own childhood experience of losing her son Nico when he was young. 👉 The story is told from the perspective of the dog, Perla, who is angry that humans don't speak 'guau', the language of dogs. 👉 The book follows Perla and Nico's adventures as they encounter a pirate and his vespa, and a lost sock that helps them track down Nico's scent. 👉 Allende hopes that the book will teach children that they will never be abandoned and that it's okay to take risks.
