👉 Mauricio Hoyos, a 48-year-old Mexican marine biologist, was attacked by a shark while working off Costa Rica's Pacific coast. 👉 The attack occurred on Cocos Island, a Costa Rican national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. 👉 Hoyos was rescued by the Costa Rican Fire Department and transported to a hospital in the capital. 👉 He was leading a scientific expedition as part of the One Ocean Worldwide Coalition, a collaborative initiative focused on shark conservation.
