✍️ Archaeologists have discovered evidence of large-scale feasting gatherings in the Bronze Age, where people traveled from far and wide to congregate and share meat.
👉 Pigs and cattle were driven hundreds of miles to the same sites for decades 👉 Feasting gatherings had individual characteristics and were probably ways of building and consolidating relationships within and between communities 👉 The largest feasting site, at Potterne, had up to 15m bone fragments 👉 Pork was the meat of choice at Potterne, with pigs brought in from a wide catchment area 👉 Beef was the preferred meat at Runnymede, with cattle arriving from Wales and Cornwall/Devon 👉 Mutton may have been the meat of choice at East Chisenbury, with the majority of animals coming from the immediate surroundings
