✍️ Fishermen in Senegal's Saint-Louis are struggling due to the construction of a liquefied natural gas platform, which restricts their access to fishing grounds and reduces their catches.
👉 The GTA gas project has restricted fishing access to a 500m exclusion zone around the platform. 👉 Fishermen are struggling to make a living due to reduced catches and income. 👉 The project has led to the loss of jobs in the fishing industry, with many women now unemployed. 👉 The Senegalese government has promised to create artificial reefs to compensate for the loss of fishing grounds, but the project has been slow to materialize.
