✍️ The European Union has implemented a new digital system for the entry and exit of tourists to the Schengen space, replacing traditional passport stamps with biometric data.
👉 The EES system is mandatory for short-stay travelers to any of the 29 Schengen countries 👉 The system uses biometric data such as facial images and fingerprints 👉 The system stores data for three years, unless a new passport is obtained during that period 👉 The system is designed to modernize security controls at EU borders and detect automatically persons who have exceeded their permitted stay 👉 The system has been implemented to replace traditional passport stamps 👉 The system is available for 29 countries, including 25 EU member states and four non-EU Schengen countries
