WHAT WALKER BUEHLER, GERMÁN MÁRQUEZ HAVE SHOWN SO FAR

✍️ The San Diego Padres have two veteran starters, Walker Buehler and Germán Márquez, who are struggling to adjust to their new mechanics and delivery after elbow surgeries.
👉 Walker Buehler has a 7-pitch mix with a fastball that tops out at 93-94 mph, but struggles with command and execution. 👉 Germán Márquez relies heavily on his knuckle curve and four-seamer, and needs to be almost perfect with these pitches to be successful. 👉 Both pitchers have lost velocity after elbow surgery and are now relying on command and finesse to be effective. 👉 Time will tell if the adjustments they have made can carry them through to an effective second career as a finesse pitcher. 👉 The Padres have other options on the horizon if either or both of these pitchers are unable to adjust to their new realities.
