✍️ Sen. Chuck Grassley's release of an FBI memorandum raises concerns about the Bureau's ability to render computerized records invisible, potentially violating constitutional and corruption laws.

👉 The FBI's Sentinel case management system can hide material coded 'Prohibited Access' from search results. 👉 This raises concerns about the DOJ's ability to provide exculpatory or impeachment evidence to criminal defendants. 👉 The FBI's use of 'Prohibited Access' coding has been linked to the Trump/Russia-collusion investigation and the Ukraine corruption investigation. 👉 The FBI needs to answer questions about the 'Prohibited Access' functionality, including who added it, who approved it, and who can see the existence of files designated Prohibited Access.

IG REPORT REVEALS FBI COULD STILL BE SPYING ON CONGRESS AND LEAKING TO HELP DEMOCRATS

https://thefederalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Screen-Shot-2024-12-18-at-9.19.38-PM-1200x675.png

✍️ The Justice Department Inspector General report reveals that the Executive Branch secretly surveilled members of Congress and their staff for months without justification, raising concerns about the separation of powers and civil liberties.

👉 The FBI and DOJ issued subpoenas for non-content records of phone numbers and email addresses of 43 staffers and two members of Congress 👉 The justification for the subpoenas was often based on the 'close proximity in time' between the access and the publication of the news articles 👉 The DOJ obtained 40 non-disclosure orders, which prevented communications companies from informing the surveilled individuals that their records had been subpoenaed 👉 The IG concluded that the actions risk 'chilling Congress's ability to conduct oversight of the executive branch' and create 'the appearance of inappropriate interference' by the executive branch in legitimate oversight activity
