✍️ Midge Ure reflects on the legacy of Live Aid, the 1985 concert that raised money for famine relief in Ethiopia, and its potential to happen today.
👉 Live Aid was held to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia in 1985 👉 The event featured performances by U2, Queen, David Bowie, and others 👉 Midge Ure believes that the event's success was due to its simplicity and lack of social media distractions 👉 The event's organizers faced logistical hurdles and had to break a trucking cartel in Ethiopia 👉 The event raised £150m for the Band Aid Charitable Trust 👉 The trust has never had an office and all trustees work for free, with expenses forbidden 👉 10% of proceeds from the musical 'Just for One Day' will support the trust
