✍️ New York is focusing on the spotted lanternfly, an invasive insect that is advancing in urban and agricultural areas, with experts warning that its presence could increase due to climate change, reproduction, and the expansion of the tree of heaven.
👉 The spotted lanternfly is an invasive insect that feeds on plant sap and can weaken vegetation. 👉 It can feed on dozens of plant species, making it a concern for the state's viticulture and fruit production. 👉 The insect's reproductive cycle, warmer winters, and the lack of natural predators are contributing to its spread. 👉 The tree of heaven is facilitating its spread by providing a habitat for the insect.
