✍️ The decline in international students attending US colleges is having a devastating impact on small college towns, with Oxford, Ohio being a prime example.
👉 International student enrollment at Miami University has plummeted from 2,895 in 2019 to 750 in 2024. 👉 The decline is attributed to various factors, including the Trump administration's response to protests on campuses against Israel's war on Gaza. 👉 International students contribute significantly to the local economy, with estimates suggesting that they contribute around $50bn to the US economy in 2023. 👉 Small college towns like Oxford, Ohio, are particularly affected by the decline in international students, with many relying heavily on their enrollment to support their local economies.
