✍️ The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have warned of a concerning increase in infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria, known as 'nightmare bacteria', in the United States.
👉 The CDC has reported a 70% increase in infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria between 2019 and 2023. 👉 The majority of cases are linked to the NDM gene. 👉 Only two antibiotics remain effective against these bacteria. 👉 The CDC warns of the risk of community transmission and chronic infections. 👉 The use of antibiotics without proper diagnosis and treatment has contributed to the increase in resistance.
