✍️ The US government is reducing the number of vaccines it recommends for all children, sparking concerns among public health experts and medical groups.
👉 The CDC now recommends vaccines against 11 diseases: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Acellular pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b, Pneumococcal conjugate, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Human papillomavirus, and Varicella 👉 The CDC will no longer recommend vaccines against six diseases: Respiratory syncytial virus, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Dengue, Meningococcal ACWY, and Meningococcal B 👉 The change is based on a 'comprehensive scientific assessment', but the CDC bypassed a key federal vaccine panel 👉 Medical groups and experts are concerned that the change will cause confusion and potentially harm public health 👉 The CDC will still recommend vaccines for high-risk groups or populations, but the exact criteria for these groups are unclear
