✍️ Two pro-Gaza candidates, Maheen Kamran and Azhar Ali, won local elections in England, flipping seats held by the Labour Party.
👉 Maheen Kamran won the Burnley Central East seat on the Lancashire County Council 👉 Azhar Ali won the position of county councillor for the Nelson East ward 👉 Both candidates ran as independents in the May 1 local elections 👉 Ali was a former Labour Party member who was suspended and lost party backing due to allegations of antisemitism 👉 Kamran has taken radical stances, including voting to end the 'free mixing' of Muslim men and women in public spaces
