✍️ A recent audit in Massachusetts reveals that the Department of Children and Families (DCF) has been failing to properly oversee the use of psychotropic drugs on children in its care, leading to concerns about the well-being of these children.
👉 22% of children in DCF's protective custody were prescribed at least one psychotropic medication 👉 DCF did not always obtain or renew court approval before administering antipsychotic medications 👉 DCF did not properly maintain healthcare records 👉 DCF did not document follow-up doctor appointments 👉 DCF did not document consent for psychotropic medications 👉 20% of children received dosages that exceeded the FDA recommendations
