Cake Wallet

The age of privacy in crypto started 12 years ago, with a little thing called Monero.

That humble beginning on a thread on the Bitcoin Talk forum was the start of a revolution, a world where real people could gain the real privacy they needed.

Thank you, Monero 🧡

Ever wanted to use accounts for your wallets but not sure where to start? Cake Wallet's latest release makes it easier than ever before.

But why use accounts at all?

While most of us are used to different types of accounts in the traditional world, in crypto we've gotten far too used to lumping all of our money into one place. That donation you received? The paycheck from your freelance job? The share of lunch you split with a friend?

Lightning is just a tap away ⚡️

Have you tried it yet, anon?

Self-custody is a non-negotiable at Cake Wallet. That’s why, in 2024, we did something painful: we hit pause on our Lightning integration.

We saw too many wallets "solving" Lightning by forcing users into custodial shortcuts. We tried the best-known decentralized alternatives at the time, but the user experience just wasn't there.

We chose to wait for the right tech rather than ship a bad experience.

That tech is Spark. ⚡️

By leveraging Spark and the new Breez SDK, we’ve closed the gap.

No better way to properly test Lightning in Cake Wallet than to have our CEO, Vik Sharma, buy a few beers at PubKey NYC 🫡

They say privacy is for criminals. We say it's for humans.

Every day, millions use privacy tools not to hide, but to live freely. Protect their families, and escape financial surveillance.

The FUD is loud, but the truth is louder.

"People want to be able to use cryptocurrency as easy as you're using Venmo or PayPal. So it's kind of on us, the tech industry, to make it more convenient and user-friendly" - Our CEO, Vik

Unless we take responsibility as builders, we'll never get there, and we won't stop until we close the gap 🛠️

Self-custody is the main feature of Bitcoin. But it's not enough on its own.

"You should be able to use it without revealing your transactions, without revealing your balance" - Our CEO Vik

Digital cash means easy spending without exposing your financial history to the world.

Open source isn't just about code, it's about power. Sethforprivacy explains why Cake Wallet being fully open source means YOU win, not us.

Anyone could clone us tomorrow, and that's the point.

Cupcake or Ledger? Ledger or Trezor? Cake Wallet supports them all. Real freedom means picking your own path.

🎉 1 MILLION+ DOWNLOADS! 🎉

Since 2018, that's 1,000,000 people using: 🧑‍💻 Freedom tech 🪙 Freedom money 💵 Digital cash 🔐 Privacy tools

And we couldn't have done it without each and every one of you. Thank you for your support, now let's push to 10M and beyond 🚀

Privacy isn't a feature. It's a right. Cake Wallet gives you everything you need: 🔐 Self-custody 🤐 Silent payments 🔄 PayJoin 📖 Open source 🧅 Native Tor

This is how Bitcoin should work.

Cupcake: Turn any spare device into a hardware wallet. No shipping. No personal info. No $100+ cost. Just download, disconnect from internet, and get hardware-level security in 5 minutes. Install it for free on iOS & Android.

Self-custody is evolving against $5 wrench attacks 🔧

These aren't memes anymore, they're weekly incidents. Veteran cypherpunks are adapting their security models.

This doesn't mean self-custody is failing. It's just getting smarter.

The real horror? Custodial exchanges knowing everything about your life. Happy Halloween. Stay non-custodial, stay safe 🎃🔐

Trade stocks with crypto. No banks, no brokers, no BS 📈

Cake Wallet v5.5 brings xStocks—giving you access to tokenized versions of Google, Amazon, Nvidia, and other blue-chip stocks. Buy them with USDT or other crypto, hold them self-custodially, trade them 24/7.

If the dealership could decide you don't actually own your car after you paid for it, would you still buy it?

That's custodial crypto. If the exchange can freeze your funds, deny withdrawals, or disappear overnight...you never really owned it.

Not your keys, not your coins.

"But is Cupcake actually secure?"🤔

We get this question a lot. So we wrote a deep(ish) dive into exactly how Cupcake (our offline signing app) works under the hood. From secure enclaves, to offline keys, animated QR transactions, and more!

Read all about the inner workings of Cupcake on our blog: http://blog.cakewallet.com/how-cupcake-actually-works-a-technical-deep-ish-dive/

Your Cake Wallet just got a serious upgrade 🎂✨ 🔐 Trezor & BitBox hardware wallet support 🪙 Base L2 integration 📈 Tokenized stocks trading 🎃 Return of Monero Orange theme!

v5.5.0 might be our biggest update yet. Here's what's new 🧵

Your salary isn't public. Your rent isn't public. Your grocery bill isn't public. So why should your crypto transactions be?

Cash at a farmer's market: totally normal. Digital payment with privacy: "what are you hiding?"

Same transaction, different standards. This is privacy in crypto in a nutshell.

Your bank balance isn't public. Your salary isn't public. Your rent payment isn't public. So why should your crypto be?

Our logo has never looked this delicious 🧁 Big love to Dark Prague for making this happen 💜

🔥 PSA: If you haven't updated to Cake Wallet v5.1.0 yet, you're missing out on NATIVE Tor integration for Android! No more juggling external Tor browsers or complicated setups.

Update now and experience true digital sovereignty!

Airgapped security shouldn't cost hundreds of dollars.

With Ledger dropping S support, it's a reminder why we're building Cupcake. It turns any secondary phone into an airgapped device for free.

Open source. iOS & Android. In beta, expect more soon 🧁

It's about time we bring privacy to the forefront of cryptocurrency.

Saturday June 21st | 09:30 ⚡️🍰

Everyone should have the right to choose what to share with the world.

Fight for your right to exist without constant surveillance. Privacy isn't about hiding, it's about choosing.

Privacy made easy. ✅ Monero ✅ LTC MWEB ✅ Silent Payments ✅ Payjoin V2 ✅ Open source ✅ Multi-currency ✅ Easy exchange ✅ Easy payments ✅ Self-custody

anyone notice my new preview images on app stores? 🙈

Privacy isn't paranoia, it's preparation.

The best privacy tools require no further explanation.

Democratize money. Democratize privacy. Democratize payments.

Privacy = power. Don't give yours away.

Bitcoiners: What are you waiting for?

All the crypto tech in the world means nothing without privacy.
